We are working on a running shoe collab and the global brand said they would help organize a race for us. This would be HUGE and tons of fun. Will be looking to start this process shortly!
Ran it too. Absolutely brutal race. Planned to send it for a 2:50 despite the weather. Held a 6:35 avg, bonked at 20 and slogged to a 3:05. You should both sign up for another marathon this season (CIM?) and test yourself again. Your fitness is still ridiculous and could crush a marathon under the right conditions. I quickly decided to run Philly on the 20th to hopefully get that BQ around 2:50. We can still reap the benefits from the training block. Been following your runs on Strava and it is truly impressive. Good luck guys.
Knowing you guys and your work ethic, I know you will bounce back and crush it next time. It’s sucks to lose, but that only makes the taste of victory even better!
Appreciate you guys sharing your experience 🙏🏽 good to hear you laugh about the experience even though I know a disappointment. Was inspiring to see you guys run by at mile 8 - couldn’t tell you were hurtin. Good luck on the next race!
It's incredible you couldn't tell we were hurting lol. I know for me (Marcus), I have little memory of the race past mile 7... feels like I just blacked out until the tent at mile 13.9
Currently listening - just a thought as I was also following the half marathon book you guys used for a bit. A running coach can work wonders for you! Especially one that is well-seasoned and has run majority of the major marathons. Trainingpeaks is great - that's the platform most of them use, but you can find them on Instagram, etc. A book is great, but it's not personable to YOU. It's very vague and leaves too much room for speculation. Just my thoughts! I signed up to two half marathons because of you both. Going from a 3 hour half with no running experience to a potential sub 2 hour either in my next race in December or the following one in January. All in minted gear, of course, hahaha! Cheers guys. Love following the journey.
It was a very difficult run , around mile 10 I feared not even being able to finish. Started off strong and then went slower and slower. I was looking at the medical tents as well.
I feel lucky that I only was really dealing with the shin splint. I think as I get used to higher mileage weeks it will become less of a concern. I will say, overall, happy with the plan that I used
Never related to anything more. Your experience was pretty much identical to my first marathon last spring, problems with heart rate and tired legs and so on... and the feeling when you know you''ve failed is the worst feeling in the world and you feel like no one understands your pain mentally.
It just eats away at you. During the race its frustrating and then after is even more heavy. I am still thinking about it a lot during my days. The only thing that I can think to do is just bounce back and start training again. Did you race after that? How did it go
@@themarcusmilionepodcast6631 have not raced since but im planning on racing next summer/fall. Took some time for me to get over the marathon but im over it now. The best thing to do when you are in this situation is doing another marathon with the same goals but now with more experience and lessons learned . Good luck in the future man!
Marcus, you mentioned eating bland foods and feeling very tired - were you eating enough salt? That can make someone feel very tired for no apparent reason, maybe you need some electrolytes?
I was trying to add salt to everything in the 2 weeks leading up to the race because I knew it was going to be hot + I wanted added water retention. That (ontop) of nuun electrolyte tabs had me thinking I shouldn't be low... but again, I'm not really sure. It was such a weird feeling
I know I’m not the target for this but as I’m training for two half marathons - I think I’ll carry 3. 4 at most. During my longest run so far I used them at miles 3, 6 & 9. I think I would probably use another somewhere in the mix around mile 11 depending on how I feel.
I personally dont really use gels for anything under 13 miles. I would say 2 could work though. Maybe 1 gel at 45 min and then another every 30 min after? Im not an expert in fueling though
Marcus, I know you said you were cutting weight before the race....do you think that the dieting and cut in calories ultimately had an impact on race day?
I have spent some time thinking about this. Wanting to be lighter on race day may have ultimately had a negative impact. I can't really know for sure but I wont rule it out
The race might have been a bust but at least you can laugh about it now. This was a good watch. Anyways there no doubt you’ll both smash the next race, Im excited to see what it’ll be.
Side note: I keep commenting this on the IG and TikTok. We need a minted half marathon someday! I would def travel for it.

To fail is to succeed - ya’ll went for it with courage and that’s more than most can say.
Appreciate you bro. Thank you 💚

I think many people were in our same boat bro. Brutal heat/humidity. Glad to see you finished it out. Will probably plan something soon! GL on Philly
love seeing you guys laugh about it 😅 tough pill to swallow but you win some you lose some! you guys are so inspiring keep up the good work!
It hurts but that competitiveness is what got us here in the first place. Only this to do now is re-tool and refocus

Appreciate you bruv

@@themarcusmilionepodcast6631 ha! Definitely mistook the look on your face as focus. I’d share the clip but I was yelling in the back lol
props on the effort.
Thanks bruv

Much love bro. I hope you smash the sub 2 upcoming. I will take a look into proper coaching! -- thanks for the tip
That's showbiz baby we'll get um next time 😎
Ain't this the truth
Respect boys
Inspiring from NYC all the way to the UK 🙏🇺🇸🇬🇧
Feel the pain of this one for a bit
And then let go
And on to the next run
❤
Appreciate you George! Much love, thanks for the kind words

It happens. Back on the horse and onward we go!
What compression shorts do you guys typically wear?
I think you guys should try the NYC half marathon again that way you guys have a race to look forward to soon.
I believe that we will both be signing up for it
Pfitzingers plan is no joke. Had a similar issue of overuse injuries creeping up on me during my training
I feel lucky that I only was really dealing with the shin splint. I think as I get used to higher mileage weeks it will become less of a concern. I will say, overall, happy with the plan that I used
29:20 how do you guys access your phone when you run, the touch screen for me stops working when sweat gets on it
I pull it out of my compression shorts. Usually the screen doesn't have any moisture on it... but I have had that happen before

shawn really decided to become a bartender the NIGHT BEFORE 😂😂😂😂😂
How many gels should I bring with me for my half marathon this Sunday

This is the plan. Better everyday is the only thing that matters. Learning experience
You guys should try to do a collab with Casey Niestat, he is from nyc, loves to run and has a lot of followers who could buy your product.
I would love this. He is a huge creator though... and quite busy.... we can try
Love you but the breathing into the mic was killing me haha. Best of luck next year!!!
ps I think it's time for both of you to ditch the airpods and invest in some Powerbeat Pros 😅
race without your phone and be with yourself and the other runners
Unfortunately my watch only works when connected to the gps through my phone, so I need it to track pace/distance
