I would straight up listen to The Underrated Youth EP he released earlier last year. I think he totally hit the jackpot with that and to me it’s his most true to himself and authentic work he has done and where he finally settled his style and influence. This was a really good choice to know him as him. His musical skill is impressive and actually when he started labels didn't really like him for his musical style or for other things about his identity. You really need to watch his short (6min) film Lonely Together because he tells the story about how he started -that sort of Disney to music era. But yungblud is ironically the exact opposite of label made. His story is very interesting and so is how he grew his fanbase and why it is so strong. He did a short tour documentary for his biggest UK show yet- We're Only Just Getting Started (under 10 min) which is the best way to understand his live aspect which was key to how he grew because he just played show after show and gained his following organically. He's a genre mixer so songs like Loner are his rockier stuff, Polygraph Eyes has more of a rap lyrical style, Parents is sort of a hip hop 21 pilots style mix, Hope For The Underrated Youth is a mix (these will probably be the songs people recommend). But his skill is in emotion. If you want to hear him make the most of that rasp and emotional performance I highly recommend the Vevo Live Hope For The Underrated Youth with orchestra performance. A fan favourite that was unreleased for a long time is Casual Sabotage- he did a vevo lift live performance, that song is a lot about the ethos of Yungblud. King Charles & I Love You Will You Marry Me(both live at the viper room- the songs as played now) and Tin Pan Boy show his most political side and are some of his first tracks that got attention in his early days. I think you will really like him and respect him after investigating more. But knowing him is as important as his music because he is interested in making a culture not just music.

You have to see Yungblud in concert. I've been to 30 or 40 concerts in my life. The 2 Yungblud shows I've attended quite possibly the best two concerts I've ever been to. The man has crazy energy..he never stops.
I really think you should check out some interviews with him, it made me like him so much. Yes! I’ve been waiting forever for you specifically to react to this. YungBlud seems pretty authentic to me, I’ve watched a ton of his interviews and I don’t think it’s a persona. He has a really bubbly personality, you wouldn’t think he does the music he does by watching some interviews. A lot of his songs are meaningful and dark with a lot of rap and rock influence.

I'd recommend some of his older songs like king charles, I love you, willl you marry me, polygraph eyes, california and most of all, I recommend you to listen to his song loner. Yeah, I really don't think his label could tell him to do hip hop and he would do it if he wasn't passionate about it. He was offered a deal with a really good label but denied it because they told him he couldn't sing about politics. He doesn't let any label boss him around. Don't be mistaken! I'd say the best songs to get a feel for him are Parents, Hope For The Underrated Youth, and Polygraph Eyes. I Love You, Will You Marry Me? and King Charles are also two songs that are really important to him (in terms of politics so you might not enjoy them if politics isn't your thing haha). But overall, a lot of his music is very political and has a lot of political undertones. Something we would never hear from him if he had agreed to let a label boss him around.

I'd say the best songs to get a feel for him are Parents, Hope For The Underrated Youth, and Polygraph Eyes. I Love You, Will You Marry Me? and King Charles are also two songs that are really important to him (in terms of politics so you might not enjoy them if politics isn't your thing haha). But overall, a lot of his music is very political and has a lot of political undertones. Something we would never hear from him if he had agreed to let a label boss him around.
