    Thanks Luke for your time and your information on the spoons.. some people just can't seem to be happy with you and your time that you have used to help people out with lure and location selections , to many trolls that want experiments!

    Great job, Luke👊🏻😎
    Johnson Silver Minnow is one of my all time favorite lures.
    I love throwing spoons anyway...just can’t beat some of the old tried and true classics in my opinion.
    I picked up a bunch of Little Cleo spoons about a month ago and they’re great. A lot of guys use them for Pike and Steelhead but I’ve had great luck using them here in NW FL for Specks, Reds, Spanish, and Jack Crevalle.
    I really appreciate your business model.
    You simply can’t believe most reviews because they’re sponsored to say good things about a specific product.

    Nice video, Luke. Keep both spoons in my bag. Definitely seeing a trend n the Salt Strong video library, i.e., putting yourself in a good spot (feeding fish, bait activity, structure,, birds) matters more than the particular lure at the end of your leader. Must be something to that. 😁 Keep ‘me coming, and enjoy Bokeelia!

    Love the way you test different baits and tactics. As far as spoons, a test I would like to see is adding a red "tail" to the hook, or a small red plastic tab or bead to the front. Or both. I've had success with them rigged that way, but I've never experimented with/without the red teasers in the same environment.

    Very timely video. Always kept a spoon or two in the tackle box but never really used them but just bought a collection of spoons online. Unfortunately not any weedless spoons available in Indonesia, but I'm getting pretty good at improvising. Thanks Luke.

    Where you fish if the most important factor but lure selection is also Huge. I can't tell you how many times having the right bait was the key to success. Just last weekend my co-angler kicked my you know what, and the only difference was color of the jig-head. We were obviously fishing the same area and we both have similar casting and fishing skill. Yes sometimes it can come down to something that small.

    Ball bearing swivels would be ideal since they have less resistance. Plus a oil based scent applied to the swivels will help

    Fished the Silver Minnow for years. I prefer the Aqua Dream spoons because the hooks are way sharper.
    The hooks on the Silver Minnows are butter knives straight out of the package. Always had to spend at least an hour with a hook file to get the points sharp enough...

    Awesome video Sir, which knot did you tie for both spoons? I’ve always used Johnson silver minnows, but I’m gonna have to try an aqua dream sometime. Cheers from S. Tampa!

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  5 років тому

      I was using a non-slip loop knot for the silver minnow spoon to enable it freedom of motion. And I was using an Orvis knot on the aqua dream spoon because it came with a split ring at the front so I didn't need a loop knot.

    I believe you already answered the question. “Matching your bait/lure to the conditions.” It’s difficult to find a single bait/lure that works in all conditions. You might be able to catch fish, but not as successfully as using the one that best suits the conditions.

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  5 років тому

      Yes... it seems as if the right type of lure for a given situation is most important than the exact one used.

    Nice video. Only comment is it might not be a fair comparison if your samples contain different color lures.

    • @Saltstrong
      @Saltstrong  5 років тому +1

      We agree... the core goal was to test what we've heard to be the best color for each of the spoons to see how they compare in the more measurable factors like casting distance, line twist, skipping performance, etc... the fish catching comparison was simply to prove that they both can catch fish.

  • @partner348
    @partner348 3 роки тому +1

    AD MAKES... a gold spoon. Your test was not an AD vs SM, but a gold vs white spoon. The advantage of AD is their choice of colors. W/o both spoons being gold, i don't see the value in the comparison. You made a point of everything -- rod, reel, line, leader, -- BUT the most critical thing, being the same.

    I really liked this video but you made a fatal flaw in your experiment: you had two variables and kept telling us that only had one. What was the other variable? The spoon color. Although everything “was the same” you used one white (Aquadream) and one silver (Johnson). That could have easily thrown the whole thing off. I’d love to see this all over again with two of the same color.
