Simple? Maybe for a professional or something! Saying it’s simple seems to take away from all that goes into this process. Coming from someone who is a novice, this was not simple. The only simple thing in this video is the way the creator explained everything. Her directions were clear, simply stated and super helpful.

So appreciative of your tutorials! I volunteered to tie dye 15 shirts for my daughter’s 2nd grade musical. I had no idea how hard it was going to be for a beginner to try to make red, white and blue tie dye designs. The colors bled and I would’ve loved to be able to get advice prior from someone like you for all the unexpected things. It amazes me how good you are at this!! @@RiahsTieDyethe shirts turned out pretty good. Didn’t look as good as yours but better than expected. The only problem was the colors bled and turned the white areas pink.

I’m pretty new to tie dyeing but I can’t keep the white part white. It bleeds into the white when it’s sitting for the 24 hours. I’m using Rit dye.
Yeah I’m not too familiar with rit dye …I used it once and didn’t like it but I thickened my dye so it wouldn’t bleed ☺️❤️

When you wrap the spiral into a circle, do you use just plain old masking tape? Can any other tape be used? Like maybe the big width clear packing tape?
I’ve really only tried masking tape so I’d say give them a try! I wouldn’t use duct tape but packing tape may work ☺️❤️

I love it. I love the simplicity. Did you use thickened dye? I can't seem to keep red and blue from bleeding into each other. Hope you had a great 4th!

My white turned pink 😭
Oh no! At what stage do you think that happened?! So what I do is rinse the shirt in cold water first and then gradually move it to warm/hot. Squeeze out as much excess dye as you can. Then you’ll want to fill your sink with hot water…hot but you’ll be putting your hands in it so not too hot. And put some dawn dish soap in there and suds it up. Soak the shirt in there for about 20 minutes. Drain rinse the shirt and if the water was pink, repeat until the water appears clear.

Why do you use tape on some of your work and rubber bands on others
Most of the time I use tape on the ones where I paint characters and rubber bands on the ones that are more simple ☺️
