I was using a Matt Allen head this year at Table Rock and was not doing much, I switched to your design and started crushing them… I swear by these Guppy Heads!!!
Thanks Matt. I do use those jig heads and they are very good quality. Best bait keeper in the business witch you need for most swimbaits. Mister twister grubs work great with those heads. Looking forward to trying the Dimiki rig.

Matt, I looked you up on UA-cam soon after you launched your channel based on your Dirty Jigs Guppy Head. I had to know who was the man behind this killer swimbait head!! It's legendary!!!
Great job on the guppy head been using them a couple years with the small swim baits never thought of trying it in a jig head worm that’s a great idea thanks. The tactical bassin guys recommended that guppy head a lot probably helps sell quite a few to bad you don’t get any percentage off them but I’m sure dirty jigs takes care of you as your sponsor I love their jigs and swim bait heads they do a great job. Thanks for another great video
All my jigs head are Dirty jigs and for the smaller one it’s Matt Stefan guppy head , even before i saw your first video , learned it with Tactical bassin and use it since .
Found out how valuable the guppy head was last winter when we stayed in Hixson Tn at the Talkin Tackle Lodge on Lake Chickamauga , our boat was in the same garage as the guide boat so we scoped out what they had rigged up and we were surprised they had a bunch of 2.8 keitechs pre rigged with the guppy heads , we asked them about it and they said thats how their clients were catching most of their fish, we bought a bunch and never looked back , you have to be proud that the best swim bait head out there has your name on it lol
Matt, Help me understand the performance physics of having weight the length of the hook shank, away from the head. While this may make the bait swim and pendulum better, doesn’t this weight positioning cause the jig to suspend at an angle instead of horizontal when vertical jigging on a loop knot? My thought is to use the guppy head for casting but to use a more forward-heavy 90 degree jig for a pure vertical jigging approach. Thoughts?
I had bought some awhile ago and caught some decent ones on it. You guys should make one with a weed guard I get hesitant throwing them around cover with that open hook.
i had never heard of the smeltinator until several years after my head came out. The story i was told by the owner of Dirty Jigs Is that the owner of smeltinator called him for advice and he told him to use the cone keeper. Youd have to ask the those two what the true story is. I took the idea of a finesse swimbait head to Dirty Jigs and they utilized a head design already used on one of their other swimbait jigheads. Its an exact copy of that other dirty jig head just smaller with the cone keeper.
@@MattStefanFishing That reply makes me sad. The Smeltinator was out in 2007. I have messages with you buying our heads off us long before your guppy came out. Which your guppy head came out 10 or 11 years after our jig. I still have the sales in our shopify from you buying smeltinators along with the marabou jigs, b-jigs and the excalibur one knocker traps. in 2016/2017. The rest of your story is also false, which I know you know. I actually take it as a compliment its been knocked off so many times like this. Matt! Thank you for your guppy head. I prefer to throw mine witha Dobyns 742 DX casting on 12# flouro for insurance. I have small jaws get unpinned more than I'd like. I know it's not the hook! Do a video on your experiences with all the different possibilities. Spinning with straight flouro. Spinning with braid - flouro. Casting with straight flouro. I'm casting with straight flouro on what you would be considered a 7'4" Med light/med light +fast tip casting with 7:1:1 reel. I definitely noticed a difference when I started using your 3/0 for 3.3 Keitechs instead of the 1/0 for 3.3s. Still would love your advice and experience with fine tuning the ultimate guppy head rod, reel, line combo.....and your trial and errors with other rod, reel line setups. Think that would make for a fantastic video.
It's a pretty good head. I like it with a 4" worm. I read a comment that a patron of your channel is sweating their tail off. Maybe he should come up here, huh.
@@MattStefanFishing That's terrific to hear, as the Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp 3/0 3/16 oz is what I have settled on through long personal trials and errors. One enhancement I can recommend: clip on a DECOY trailer blade (willow leaf silver size 2) model 405130.
