Hey everyone thanks for watching if you enjoyed ps2 era 3d platformers like the first Jak and Daxter, Haven Call of the King, and a bit of Maximo (not nearly as difficult as) you will enjoy this one. I floated between 6 and 7 but it had pleasant graphics and music that made me go with 7.

Like a couple of other people in the comments, I also would score Effie 8/10. I'm really enjoying playing through it: will only take three or four play sessions with my kids. For people who think the game is too short, it's taking us at least 8-10 hours and we're not really exploring every single corner/collectible, just taking our time and enjoying the surroundings. For me, that's the perfect length for an $18 "labor of love" game by a small indie studio. I'm running out of gas on the 40-to-80 hour games that I never have time to finish. We've been working through (and loving!) Dragon Quest XI for months, and it's hard to tackle any other big games during family game nights until we finish that ... hopefully before the end of 2019. So games like Effie, the similarly name Elli (which we enjoyed this spring), or non-narrative, quick games with replay value like Smash, Crash Team Racing/Team Sonic Racing, Kirby Star Allies make up our best variety between DQ XI sessions.
Fun game easy buy for parents to not worry an still give their son or daughter a fun game. This is the kind of game when you play as a kid that can help you develop a love of gaming so while not for me I am happy a studio could get this released in the age of triple a shit and sequel mania.
I love these types of games, much more than the super blockbuster hits of today that have discs filled with 2 hours of FMV movie footage. I think the gaming industry needs to learn that the content needs to be realtime at least 90% of the time. The last Ps4 game I bought had so much dialogue, movies and story telling I just switched it off.
I heard about this a little while ago and immediately thought, "Oh cool; kinda like Maximo!" and then lost track of it. Had no idea it just suddenly came out this week on PS4, but it's good to hear it's solid. I kinda wanna pick this up, so this review is pretty dang helpful. Thanks for squeezing such awesome reviews into such short runtimes :)
No problem I was hoping after I beat the game I could go back but nope hitting continue at the main menu took me right back to the end of the final boss.
Oh and the final area you will know its the big pyramid thing at the far end of the open world area you get a prompt that tells you hey this is the end be sure to finish but even after that most games once beaten let you go back just not until you beat the boss.
Looks fun, but I can see your mentioned issues holding it back. My favorite ps2 platformers were the Maximo games and would love to see a remake or a reimigining on ps4 or switch.
It is I found almost no difficulty outside of a few moments during bosses that I actually died a few times but that was about it final boss was really easy.

Just finished this game....probably the shortest game I’ve ever played.not worth the price at all.
