I don't usually comment and while you always make quality videos, this one is my favorite in quite a while. It really shines through that you enjoyed the challenge of creating this deck and you really came up with something unique that really works and you play it very well. Also the glasses and bandana thing is not really my jam and I really enjoy this more "sincere" style. You know of course whats best for yourself and the channel, the videos are always quality. Keep up the great work and hopefully you reach your goal of 100k subscribers by the end of the year.
I know I'm projecting, but it was almost like the "Good Games" you got from these opponents felt genuine. Like they appreciated you were playing something "different," and playing it well. 💪🏽
Me: I’m going to bed now, I need to wake up early tomorrow CGB: *uploads new video* Me: I’ll just watch the first game then go to bed CGB: I have you now...
Top shelf content, hands down. Best part for me is how CGB literally thinks out loud and addresses each possibility, several turns ahead. When I talk like this with friends about anything I often get some head scratches and obvious non-verbal cues indicating they are just not interested in speculative discussions. CGB's videos make me feel that although we are few and far between, there are people who genuinely enjoy mental crunchwork like this. The geeky wisecracks are a definite plus as well (definitely meant as a compliment!). Never stop, my dude. 🙏
Your addition of the apparitions is brilliant. This is what my U/W control was missing. I didn't know thats how it worked; its so good man; they just get a useless token back; so powerful. Nice touch and thanks.

wizards_magic : We're closely monitoring developments in Standard. In order to avoid disrupting this weekend's tournaments, we intend to provide an update on the format early next week.
THIS was it for me in 1995/6 with a 100+ white blue art control. Loved that deck MOST of all and esp for multi-player. Your HOME with these colors too. Can tell you've been playing awhile. Awesome to hear about the pup!
People think CGB is trying to win, so they keep on saying how he missed lethal, but in reality, all he wants are cards and value. So from now on, everybody should point how he could have drawn more cards or gained more value.
I've seen so many misplays on the skyclave today it's been great. I've had it shocked before it's coming into play effect hits so they don't get the token. I've had it bounced so the leaving play effect occurs before the coming into play effect works, they get no token and I get to use it again and again. Loving it so far!
You can see that first games lasted for 7, 10 minutes. And I also bet many of the losses were quick scoops after a few minutes. Some of the wins are probably similarly quick scoops from the opoonents.
I really enjoy the depth in a long intro with strategy. I am the reversed uncool-kid, who views just intro and outro, when I don't have the time to watch it all... Having thoughts on strategy is the absolute best for me, and I get so much more from it than watching game play... So, mad props to you for elaborating so much in this video :) (Even if I am more of an aggro player than a control player - I do play Sultai Control post rotation, so it's not like I don't enjoy control content as well :P )
That first game was the most CGB game ever. A lot of people would view that as a brutal slog. But CGB was like a pig in you-know-what that entire time. (And, kidding aside, that was a beautifully played game. I need to get better at playing patiently.)
I can’t remember the last time I enjoyed MTG content this much. Maybe my control bias is skewing my perspective, but I think the fact that this video was a labor of love really shines through. Big thanks CGB!
I feel like I understand UW Control a little bit now. It seems like it must feel so good to grind a value machine like adventures down to helplessness...
Man, what a class o magic. I watched every move! My biggest frustration with controlling decks are the agro decks that make my hands usually to slow to stand the early game. Nonetheless, amazing job on this one! Tks CGB!!!! As always, great content!!
So much dedication to the deck... Huge respect for that. I absolutely hate playing against these type decks, and not good enough, yet, to pilot them. So many super relevant decisions to make, ugh. Learning so very much from your videos, please keep it up! I was very late joining your twitch streams, didn't even know what twitch was 2 months ago. Luckily caught your epic pre-release stream, was freaking awesome. For anyone that hasn't joined his twitch, it's awesome. Showdown with AliasV and all the your party decks was incredible!
great video, and it was really fun to watch. And it is so good to see you playing happily and proffesional again, without much salt. i will subscribe again
well you have my gratitude and respect. building a working azorius control deck in this meta what a mad lad. ill craft this and play this until we either get a sky noodle deck or until Kaldheim drops.
YESS, I've been hoping you would upload another UW video!! I've been tinkering around with the deck from your previous UW vid. Basically the main issue I had was if I didn't draw 1 of 4 shatters in the first 11 cards, I lost. I tried using 3x shatter in the main 1 in the sideboard to give a total of 6 hits with fae of wishes, little more stable but risks losing a turn. I also mained swift response which helped a little. Putting the apparitions and legion angel in is game-changing, much more value in the cards and it should help stabilize many more early games. Essence scatter combo with borrower also seems much stronger than using my swift response. I also found the main win-con to be gadwick rather than trawler, it really is about having a critical mass of answers in your hand before you can be confident your creatures are going to stick. Your solution with sea gate makes that win-con even more achievable. Awesome vid.
I love how much you love UW Control, I feel the same way. Playing with it or even playing against it, control it such a great part of magic. When it's not in the meta, the game loses some of the luster for me
Now this is a deck! These matchups looked very interesting, you have the potential to draw even more and better cards then them, but are more restricted on mana.
I can see why you put so much love into this deck. I just played it for 4 hours and enjoyed every bit of it! Worth noting, I do not enjoy control decks.
CGB - Big fan of the content. With my first child, and associated expenses, my discretional card buying income has gone to zero. I appreciate what you do; I can still enjoy the game I've loved since the 90s, without needing to reuse diapers. ;) Seriously, with all the content, my kid will be a pro by the time he can talk. Thanks, and I hope you reach the 100k mark soon.
I love this deck! I used to think I was an aggro player and then a friend of mine reminded me of all the old decks I had made and use to play. Turns out I've been a control player this entire time, with a sprinkle of combo for fun.

Skyclave Apparition is a huge addition to this deck because it's been difficult up to now to have something worthwhile, or indeed, anything, to bring back with first ECD. Now you have repeated removal.
Glad I wasnt the only mad lad putting a full set of Essence Scatters in this sort of deck. You have to have it early with the crazy ass creature meta going on right now. I feel like Whirlwind denial has a place in the deck vs. adventures and other matchups.
Two questions (and sorry if I missed you answering them in the deck talk!) 1) Why no Yorion? Two of the three new Zendikar cards have powerful ETB effects, you'd think it would be even better than it was. The meta just too hostile to it? 2) Any particular reason for the Tranquil Coves over a set of blue-white Triomes? Is it just a budget-conscious decision for viewers who might want to craft the deck? Unrelated: _God_ I love that Ikoria/lava-land music.
Hello! 1. Thanks a lot for daily entertainment and guidance in the misty jungle that’s this meta. 2. I was wondering if you have considered playing a uw control with Dance of the manse as a sort of graveyard Yorion for ecd and such. I feel like it could be fun, but this far it’s just semi successful for me.
What is your thought on running 2 and 2 instead of 1 and 3 in sideboard. Little less powerful when you hit it, but you hit it much more often. Also 3 angels usually does the trick, it's rare the 4th one is the one that matters that much. There are pros and cons to both.
What's the reason for Tranquil Cove over Raugrin Triome? Has the lifegain really been that relevant? I like the cycling ability personally, plus with the Triome having basic land types you might be able to get away with playing a copy or two of Castle Ardenvale/Vantress.

The sheer happiness on CGB's face while playing this deck compared to yesterday's Gruul deck is hilarious.

Please don't let it be cross play. People already play as if they're semi afk. Add in a tiny screen, and more distractions=bad idea.
I already play it on mobile via Steam Link, u can handle it ez if ur phone isnt too small.
