    I'm white (half-ish at least) and only got 2 steps, it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with social class and poverty (I'm British) my town is majority white but it's also extremely poor with most families barely managing to eat, I don't understand why everything has to be about race.

      Ali Khan Ahmadi wow, it’s a good thing you’re sure that they got parents to teach them things. Just because they were able to succeed in spite of the challenges, doesn’t mean that privilege does not exist. Privilege is basically whatever you get that advances you and opens you to opportunities that is not a right or among the rights in the laws of your country.

You think that one day all of society's inequalities will be defeated and there will be no more privilege or hatred? I admire your optimism, but I'm not entirely convinced that the way the world has been since the dawn of time is going to change simply because you complain enough. It just looks to me like you're wasting your time on a task that will never yield any results, and your individual contribution is so, so, so minute that it's very likely you won't even change a single person's opinion. The only issue I have with privilege is how a lot of people feel that if you have more privilege than others, you should be ashamed of that. That I should feel ashamed that my parents did everything they could to give me the best life possible and no, i'm not going to be ashamed of that. I'm going to be proud of the privilege they gave me and continue to make my life better so that my own kids can have the best life they can and continue on that way. The only time you should feel ashamed for having more privilege is if you're using it to belittle others. That's the only time.

    The problem I have with videos like those are the fact that only people who agree with the message likes and shares it. It is SO simple and vague. It doesn't change people's perspective. It just confirms it...

    There was one thing they forgot to mention, out of all the kids in there, there might have been some who didn't take a step to get pity and others who took a step to win when none of those statements applied to them. In life there are also cheaters who can get ahead of the privilege and non privilege and that's how their kids became privilege.

    Understanding that you had opportunities and advantages is important, and recognising that others didn't have them is part of growing up. This isn't a race or gender thing, this is an economic and familial thing.

      Yes there is nothing wrong with having privilege....well...unless it's based on centuries of slavery and exploitation of "the third world" throughout modern history and even present day to a large degree lol
      Do you even realize it's impossible to ever reach a point where everyone in the world can live like people in the USA?
      As in it's literally impossible because there is not enough resources in the world for that.

    • @JamesTaylor117
      @JamesTaylor117 6 років тому +5

      ShaktiX All races have practiced slavery in history, even the third worlders
      Also I think its good people arent able to live like US citizens. US citizens are being exploited and unknowingly having their freedom taken away, just as the rest of the '"free" world is. Once Tesla's actual research is disclosed, as well as the Hollywood paedophilia, government satantism, ET existance, free energy etc we wont have a need for resources. We'll be able to live in a utopia were everything is fair and peaceful.

    the analogy is not even correct... people are not racing for the same 100 dollar bill... it's not about finishing first...
    It really doesn't matter where you finish, what matters is that you are actually working hard to get there.

    • @daveh4461
      @daveh4461 6 років тому +2

      No this analogy had nothing to do with the $100 bill, it had to do with the race concept. Where the race was actually just an analogy for life.
      This video showed that some people have an advantage in the race, due to the circumstances they grew up with (socioeconomic status, the type of education they received, whether their parents divorced etc). All of these factors will have an effect on how your life will turn out.

    The whole issue with putting privilege as if it alters a race is that for where your privilege takes you is not limited to a finish line. You could be in an upper-class family and take women studies in college getting an income of about 40k a year. And even then the privilege isn't something to be ashamed or looked down upon. My father grew up in poverty but worked hard to get into college and graduate and eventually got into the upper middle class.

    • @filipericsson7700
      @filipericsson7700 6 років тому

      Yea, I would definitely say that privilege is something dependant on you class and not race. If you say that all people of colour cant make it because of the system, your underestimating the power of will.

    Notice none of these privileges had anything to do with race, but more of the family situations, and the opportunities that were given to us because of them.
    If the family unit fails, so does our nation.
