Slant Six The appearance of confederate soldiers was much more uniform than most historical interpretation groups portray.

The men who fought during the Civil War were fighting for a cause they believed in, on the Southern side States Rights and on the Northern side freedom for the Slave. It was a personal war because it was a war of Americans for there was a signal army and nation but during the war there was two armies and two nations after the war once again there was one army and one nation.

Nice, except for the heavy infantry manual. (No proof of actual use during the war)

There are accounts of the 23rd Virginia, 10th Virginia and 37th Virginia using the Heavy Infantry manual during the first 2 years.

The soldiers at Camp Lee in 1861 in Richmond were instructed by Virginia Military Institute Keydets. Perhaps you have not heard of Colonel Gilham, a VMI faculty who in 1860 wrote a manual of arms, Gilhams Manual, and exclusively used the heavy infantry tactics. So, guess what they were taught to use with their smoothbore muskets.
