  • Curious about the state of your vagus nerve?
Dive into the fascinating world of heart rate variability! In this captivating video, we delve deep into the intricate relationship between vagus nerve neuromodulation and heart rate variability, uncovering how it amplifies the vagus nerve's responsiveness to the world around us. Discover the secrets of the brain's design and how a simple neuromodulation device at your ear can profoundly affect your heart rate.
Sorry for the mistake, said echocardiogram instead of electrocardiogram!
    What we cover:
*How the cardiac vagus nerve is important to health
*How increased heart rate variability is linked to better health
*What is heart rate variability and how is it measured
    *Vagus nerve neuromodulation study design
*Vagus nerve neuromodulation increases heart rate variability and cardiac vagus activity
*Data points to identifying those that can benefit the most from vagus neuromodulation
*We describe vagus nerve brainstem anatomy to explain how vagus nerve neuromodulation can affect the heart rate

I have watched a few commentators over the past few years and of them all I feel certain that you are the most genuine. Thank you for all your time and immense effort. I would sooner de-petal dandelions than attempt to persuade technology to make a video - and anyone, with as few technical skills as I, who has made dandelion wine and dandelion jelly will immediately appreciate my point. Thank you for your patently obvious honesty. It is, I do feel, quite unique.

I appreciate that so much! Absolutely I want to deliver information as is and be partial to it. Obviously I don't hide that I am now in love studying the science of the vagus nerve but I see it as a lucky bonus (or a gift from the heavens) that I can study something so fascinating and get paid for that work. I am also quite excited and hopeful about the device, but I am interested in the science as is. It is easy to get excited about something but quality data is most important to really get to the bottom of things. And dandelion wine and jelly sounds amazing! Inspiring!

@@Merogenomics Both jelly and the wine are good for you - as are other dandelion preparations - so there is that, and personally I find it relaxing to wander around the garden de-petaling the flowers I grow - twice as many spring up so I salve my conscience and enjoy the company of the bees as I go. Collecting the heads and then doing it is, for me, a fate worse than death! I'm not sure if I can legally send you a jar but if I could, I would.
Your enthusiasm shows and I do feel you are on the right track with the vagus system. I've realsied that a good deal of the 'old knowledge' I grew up with addresses the vagus nerve and it is only due to your explanations that I have a term to attach to it! Thank you.

@@hrabmv I think I understand your point, but in fairness I can also easily grasp that innovation in this direction [the vagus nerve] is probably better to be supported for those who prefer a mechanical means of stimulating and presumably soothing that particular system because it is not outrageous to suppose that doing so would bring a lesser or greater degree of benefit and, more to the point, is unlikely to do harm if used correctly. It is a somewhat different proposition to the previously offered intervention on many levels. For myself, I prefer the old ways primarily because those attain that standing by being relatively safe and effective, as determined by centuries of use by our ancestors - but they are rarely instant. The machine is expensive, as you say, and most could not afford it but I suppose a clinic of some sort might invest as in those terms, it is, I would think, ''cheap'' by comparison with most equipment.

A prayer answered! I have RSD/CRPS, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and it's theorized that it's a result of over stimulated sympathetic system. There are millions of people in US with chronic pain and "tons" with severe intractable pain, like me, that is now UNTREATED in the US, due to the completely manufactured data on pain meds...by the CDC. There is much evidence proving this. It's an illicit fentanyl epidemic, NOT opiates! None of the other procedures and meds pushed on us, work. Many suicides and strokes/heart attacks due to this untreated pain. So this device could actually be lifesaving! This is huge! Miracle that Dr R studies this little known about biological mechanism!

At the moment no clue. Longer term studies are always in short supply and I have not see any yet in my studies. My approach to this is more like the vagus nerve constantly fluctuates in its sensitivity to the environment due to how we influence it on a daily basis. To answer your question we would have to know how overarching is the vagus nerve in generating the symptoms? My current way of thinking suspects that perhaps it could have a big role in affecting numerous systems simultaneously. So improving its function my help with symptoms but that might not remove the source of what could be destabilizing the nerve sensitivity.

@@Merogenomics The vagus nerve is a mixed nerve composed of 20% “efferent” fibers (sending signals from the brain to the body) and 80% “afferent” (sensory) fibers (carrying information from the body to the brain). The body is doing a lot more talking than the brain is.
Edited to add: the enteric nervous system is downstream autonomic and definitely relates to the gut.
Alan Watts has this beautiful lecture about the nervous system, bringing awareness to the heart that is beating, the automatic impulses in the autonomic nervous system- then he asks where does that energy come from? Science rejects religion. Religion rejects science. Does anyone benefit from such cut off mentalities?

Also some heart patents that take heart rhythm drugs like digoxin and atenanol end up having increased anxiety as a side effect. It begs the question do certain heart drugs reduce or make absent the heart rate variability thus changing their mood. Just thinking out loud throwing some hypothetical questions out there. The gateway process itself gets well off the mainstream science and into the realm of conspiracy except for the fact it was kept secret by the CIA. There is a document released to the public titled "Gateway Analysis" from the Department of the Army which outlines the process. The Silva Method has also made it's way into programs kept secret from the public for the same reasons, yet split-brain experiments seem to prove there is something to these methods for various uses. Do they cure anything? Doubtful, maybe relief from tinnitus or anxiety but I suspect they can stimulate the vagus nerve.
