Hi I love your channel I had a question though I have a 8-week-old male Rottweiler, He's having a little food aggression, I put him on a higher grade food and he loves it and he growled and nipped at me a couple times, I make him sit now I take the food away I hand feed him and then I tell him eat and I pet him while he's eating to test him, and he was doing fine to this morning he got it me again- what to do
Imagine if you were eating in a restaurant and really enjoying your meal, then the waiter snatches your plate before you got to finish, or puts his finger in your dessert while you were eating, or started rubbing your head. You'd get annoyed right? Same thing with the puppy. My suggestion would be to hand fee for a few weeks to improve how he relates to you and valuable resources. He needs to learn that food comes from you (you don't bite the hand that feeds you). The whole petting thing while they eat can just reinforcing their anxiety too. Hand feeding is the way to go, then when you start feeding with a bowl, just be in the area but let them finish in their own time so they trust that even if you are there you wont snatch their food away. You'll notice that the more he trusts you, the slower he'll eat around you. You'll eventually build up to where you can tell him to sit, take the bowl, give it back to him with a little more food inside.
I love this , post more vids !
Thank you!! Going to drop some new vids!!
