A reason for adding additional gears was so that smaller engines that use less fuel could be used to provide similar torque and power. Right now we're back at square 1 with electric. They could end up doing exactly the same - smaller engines that use less electricity and provide equivalent or better top end torque, where electrics lack - the opposite of ICE. Additionally, manufacturers are actually already looking at manual gearboxes for the purpose of keeping driving entertaining - while companies like Porsche are developing petrol replacements (whether that takes off is another story).
I'm purely talking about the looks of the car and nothing else here. Personally, I'll never look to own an electric or similar vehicle unless it becomes the only available option.
I completely agree. But what can also be said is that the big manufacturers like BMW, VW and Mercedes, etc got too complacent. And now look at BMW trying to catch up and are ruining their brand with their designs

As a petrol head the n74 is the first EV that sets up my „I damn want it“ synapses. Especially the head and tail lights are 15 out of 10 and add so much character, 90s heritage and spirit to the car. Amazing!

That N Vision is as absolute marvel of a vehicle. It's absolutely the DeLorean of the modern era... more so that whatever the hell the actual new DeLorean is doing. I'm so happy they're making it into a production vehicle. No way I'd be able to afford it but I'd love to see it on the road one day.

It is a great car. But to be honest, the Ioniq5 is not a Hot Hatch. It is Designed to look like a hatchback, but in reality it is much more massive. If you park it next to a Golf and an X3, you will see that is much closer to the SUV than to the hatchback.

Hyundai already was. Everyone in Germany driving either a Golf GTI (normally the people working for VW) and all others driving the I30 N which is cheaper and a better car itself, despite the fact that its cheaper. Since Mr. Biermann is working/ worked for Hyundai, they turned 180° and became easily one of the best car manufacturers.

I have no clue why people call it a hatch. Its full blown SUV size without the ground clearance. Its 35cm longer, 10cm wider, and 11cm taller than a Vollswagen Golf.

I used to work for two dealers Honda and Mazda in SOCAL and there was a Hyundai dealer in between, the Hyundai dealer was far less popular but if models like this came on the lot I would be sure it would be the most popular in the county! Myself, I can’t wait to get my hands on the N Vision 74!
More of a cross over with a silhouette that is very much hot hatch. But the size is comparable to small SUVs like the X3 or Q3 or Evoque. I think it was meant to compete directly with the ID4, which is also a hot hatch-looking small SUV/crossover.
I've been saying for month that they should put the EV6 GT powertrain in the Ioniq 5, cool to see them actually do it. EVs arent my bag but I'd like to take one of these forca spin.
