Interesting historical review! Since there's no chance for KaM2, I would also mention a couple of games inspired by KaM - "Knights Province" and "Lords of Solgrund".
This game is one of the best strategies I have ever played, one I will always remember and love. It's just full of love, polish, style. It literally lets you travel to these old, medieval times, see how these people gather, create, armor up, eat. If this game could have something like socializing, fractions and dyplomacy, human growth etc like Cultures or Alien Nations did, it could be even more immersive. Still, one of the best games I have ever played till this day. For me, it's as epic as Heroes III and I will keep going back to it.
I agree. In my case, besides the evergreen Heroes III (though I had a particular fondness for the atmosphere of the first installment), I was also engrossed in Anno 1602 and Zeus: Master of Olympus.
How I wish someone will remake this whole game as it is and just improve the graphics and some gameplay mechanics. It was just perfect and love the music too!
I grew up playing this game as a kid back in early 2000's. A lot of nostalgia for this game to say the least and I just like the concept of the game where you need first a working economy to support your military and such. A competitive multiplayer touch with a ranked system would be amazing imho.
Amazing Video, thank you very much for covering one of my favorite childhood games. I got this in one of the gold games collections. Man, i was bad at it. But that didnt matter to me as a kid.
Anyone who accidentaly made a beautiful large square in front of a farm instead of a farmfield, please raise your hand :) Really liked the road building aspect, which was important but time consuming and expensive aswell. Played this game ánd a totally different RTS Red Alert 1 a lot at the time with a friend. Really enjoyed the remaster of RA recently and it would be great if a remaster would be made for KaM
I'm Italian and i think that's the game mever been translated in Italian. We had a english version with english text, and that's is the way i played in early 2000'
Yes, both prototypes pertain to the sequel of Knights and Merchants. Initially, the team considered creating a 2D game, but due to the rising popularity of 3D games, they changed their concept and wanted to follow the trend.
we have the game that just arrived on gog, the game Knights and Merchants Digital Deluxe Edition and there is Knights and Merchants, Knights and Merchants Digital Deluxe Content for dlc and we have the game with Knights and Merchants Digital Deluxe Edition that arrived today this year

Thank you for the comment. Indeed, a valid point. I've pinned this comment so that people can at least see these titles this way.
When I was 17, I used to play. Now i am 38, still playing KaM

one of the best games ever made
Loved this game when it came out on my p1 166 mmx with a voodoo 2! Great times, still play it now. Fantastic video! Thanks
One of the best games I ever played.
I like this game... played a lot in the early 2000s. There is something sweet, cute and wholesome about this game. :)
Wait a minute. You tell me that after 20 years of playing this game, that the food has different values??
Yup ;)
Never occurred to you that soldiers fed with wine get hungry sooner?
@@michakolasa4044 nope haha. Just fed them when needed with whatever was available
The 2D variant reminds me a lot of Stronghold 1, also an amazing game and very interesting look and feel and immersive gameplay.
great material!

There is a remaster! Google "Kam remake". It is beautiful! You also can play it with steam version, like I do)
hi I'm in love with this game from 1999... is there anyone same ?
Yes) Since 2002 😅
If you think the animations are smooth, then you never tried the KaM Remake
You could have discussed the remake beta as well, but still very good job!

Are the two games shown at 9:47 and 11:18 early development footage of Knights and Merchants 2 or two separate games?

Man i loved this game
Thank you, very interesting!
Damn, i'd liked to see 2d sequel, very stylish.
Nice review.
Existe o jogo para Android???
dont forget to X for materials XDD do a lara evolution!!
3D was basically always a mistake for early RTS titles. It just looks worse without having the payoff that 3d movement gives.
Podia ter para Android
