    This is the best tutorial for a thermal stitch I've seen anywhere, and combined with the other bits also the best pot holder tutorial (and I've seen a lot of them!!) - crystal clear, slow enough, but not too slow, well filmed, clear explanations. 10/10!

      I agree, great close up of the whole process, I'm not keen on the dish cloth type pot holder/s this is right up my alley

    This is so cool! I've seen a lot of pot holder tutorials and even 1 using the thermal stitch but this is the first that I've seen that goes over the hand. I really like this design. Makes it a lot safer for my grandkids to handle hot stuff without risking serious burns if they accidentally touch the element in the toaster oven. I'm going to be making some a little smaller for their little hands using this same design. The tutorial was very clear and I really like the closeups. Had I not already known the thermal stitch this would be a great lesson for it alone. I could do without the music though. I realize some may like it but this old lady can do without any distractions😂. Thanks!!

    I'm so glad I found this. I read your pattern on your blog and liked it but really needed the visual. I've been wanting to make the thermal stitch but kind of procrastinated because it seemed like a lot of steps. You've made a clear video that I can understand. Thank you!

    Besides cotton, you could also use wool (it self extinguishes/won't burn/perfect for kitchen use) Idk if there's a worsted wt wool yarn but you can bulk it up when you use a double strand vs single strand to crochet the pattern. I love this pattern! Thanks for sharing it with us✌️💞🙏

    I love the pattern its easy and relaxing but I am wondering if the amount of rows for the thermal stitch is correct because when I started mine and went to do the 43 rows it came out way to long and didnt match up. I counted your rows for the thermal and you have only 22 rows .... Dont need any negative comments just making her aware

    • @lisasmith2502
      @lisasmith2502 21 день тому +1

      Thank you for asking this,I have done the same thing but I took it out before I did 43 rows. It was definitely too long for me too
      I'm so excited to find this pattern

    Hi there, Can you tell me how many yards it takes to make this pot holder? or skeins? I can't wait to start this project. Thanks

    Does the row where you single crochet into the back bump be considered the first row of the 16 single crochet?

    This is a great video. I was going to ask how many yards of yarn so I can buy the right amount but I saw in the comments someone already asked. I'm still not sure how much yarn to use but when I crochet it up, I will comment the amount of yarn I used.

    Looks simple enough I would be using cotton yarn of course I'm not much of a sewing but could I add e extra cotton lining inside by using adhere iron tape...to stick the fabric on the mitts.🤔

      I would think that would work- I’m not sure because I haven’t tried it but let me know how it goes! Good luck!

    Hi, so I'm new to crocheting I've done a lot of knitting but usually just pieces of clothing so my question is: Is it really safe to use for handeling for example oven trays and stuff that's really hot like around 200⁰ C? I'm scared that I will still burn my self. Thank you.
    Your tutorial is beautifully made and very inspiring.

    • @MarchingNorth
      @MarchingNorth  2 роки тому

      I’ve been using the one I made with no problems, but definitely be careful and you could line it with a piece of wool felt just to be safe if you want. I hope that helps!

      My family has been using crocheted pot holders (the folded double layer kind) for as long as I’ve been alive and not once has anyone been burned. They don’t even get hot taking stuff out of the oven.

    I would like to make this but with all the thermal stitch, do you know how I would start it? ❤

    • @bienvenidos9360
      @bienvenidos9360 Рік тому +2

      Start with the foundation chain then single crochet into the chain for the 1st row. The 2nd and following rows start the thermal stitch. You can end the final row with regular single crochets or the slip stitch along the last row, for example.
      There are many tutorials for the thermal stitch, for example this one. ua-cam.com/video/_NeKe_vhToE/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
      Happy crocheting !!

    How much yarn does this use? Will one regular ball of peaches and cream do it 95 yards?

    • @MarchingNorth
      @MarchingNorth  3 роки тому +2

      I used a large cone of cotton yarn when I made this so I’m not sure exactly how much it would take, but I think a regular ball of peaches and cream would probably work (I would buy two just in case 😉)

    In this case it's not that important, but for upcoming videos you should consider applying metric measures.
