Yeah but if overwatch loses more and more players like what happened with concord blizzard may have no choice but shut down the game and cut there losses
@@kevingame3198 Wouldn't mind it, personally. I just hate seeing what they did to the game I used to love. Nothing of value to me will be lost, at this point, even with my Legacy account (been playing since beta) would be gone.
@@Xport9 marvel rivals is doing overwatch could not despite being lasting almost a decade old and Bobby kotick damaged all of blizzard but with Microsoft bought blizzard and Activision in 2024 but the damage has been done it’s too late now soon blizzard is gonna lose and lose more money like concord level but world of Warcraft is keeping the company afloat but we don’t know how much longer eventually Activision blizzard is gonna meet the same fate like Ubisoft because ubisoft is on the verge of bankruptcy and getting ready to go private or get bought out by tencent or netease
On release ow2 legit removed player levels, all players ow1 stats, loot boxes and consequently free skins through progression and a whole tank. And they added Kiriko. Sick fucking tradeoff
OW2 is legitimately the only sequel to have less content than its predecessor. Its not even a sequel to be honest it barely even moved the story forward.
@@leonsqueezy8691they are adding them back tho, arent they? They have to remake the maps since they changed the engine. Tbf tho they are very slow at that, so its fair people are angry
overwatch got really obsessed with trying to force people to play it correctly while marvel rivals is actually trying to cater how people naturally want to play
What nobody seems to mention is that during the move to Overwatch 2 they basically stole everyone's in-game currency. I had THOUSANDS of dollars of premium currency on my Overwatch 1 account, but when the accounts got transferred to Overwatch 2 my thousands of dollars were WIPED. They effectively STOLE from their playerbase to force them to buy more premium currency in the future. They claimed the move to Overwatch 2 was to give people PVE and instead they took away everyone's premium currency, loot boxes and the 6v6 format. When the reason itself didn't justify the removal of content already, but then they just chose not to deliver on the reason anyway it was genuinely so ridiculous. The day they stole my premium currency I hated them. I played their game, but I still hated the devs. The moment Marvel Rivals came out I moved and now I'm happy playing a game I love and hope Overwatch continues to decline so they cannot exploit anyone ever again.
@@sfierro518 lawsuit cant be possible because what he said didnt happen at all. premium currency didnt even exist in ow1 it was only lootboxes- which nobody lost
Arriving too late to a party where most the people are gone and there's just the mess left is the most accurate description of current day Overwatch that I've ever heard.
Maybe the market is over-saturated... but Marvel rivals simply stated... doesn't matter if there is no space, if we make a good game, someone else will have to give up the seat.
Over-saturated with what? Paladins is light years behind OW. TF2 does’t have new heroes or maps each season. OW was the first multiplayer shooter to ever get Game of the year. They have (had*) no competition. Even if it’s bad you really have nowhere else to go. But it was time to show them. Since Jeff left everything went down (because he already knew they wanted to kill his game). As someone who played since the Beta I feel sad to see such great game go downhill because of greed and I am really glad they got what they deserved. Marvel started nothing. It has so much things in common with OW, even the map designs (which is totally normal). The game is a month old. For now they do what we want them to do when Blizzard did exactly the opposite. I don’t want to speak too soon but lets give Marvel some time and lets see their decisions in the upcoming months and years.
The market for hero shooters is not over saturated at all. OW was enjoying a comfortable "monopoly" as it was basically the best hero shooter in the genre, company decisions aside. People were literally begging companies to make a hero shooter to beat OW so they wouldn't have to play OW and well, Marvel Rivals was created and it's no surprise that it's doing so well now
@@SnickersPWNAGE It’s always the “let’s see in a month/months” argument 🤡 When the first Rivals trailer came out, everyone said it was a cheap copy of Overwatch. When the actual game came out, people said watch when the game dies in a month. Well would you look at that, a month later and it now has more than half a million people playing it at release of Season 1, as well as reaching 10 million players in just 3 days after release and 20 million in 11 days. The devs have already shown to make good decisions. The game won’t die even if it’s been a damn year
i honestly believe that even if Marvel Rivals were to shut down today, OW2 would still be in decline. 20$ skins, fomo bs, detached win-rate & pick-rate based balancing, role queue that has plauged queue times, awful map designs (gameplay wise) with chokepoints up the ass, 5v-fucking-5, canceled pve, casual scene is dead, no more cinematics that got a lot of us into the game, a basically dead lore, and much more. i remember being hooked because of "dragons" and "alive", getting hyped over Doomfist's origin story, to getting emotional over "honor and glory". now we have a game that feels it's being balanced by salarymen going through the motions. i still enjoy online multiplayer games like MR, DBD, fortnite, etc; but i genuinely loved overwatch.
overwatch was already in decline, but there was no real competiton, im impressed how fast and how hard marvel rivals is destroying overwatch, marvel rivals indeed hurt overwatch
@verguco6051 it also puts 100% of the tank's responsibilities on one player. meanwhile, the other two roles have 2 player's each to share their respective roles responsibilities.
It's crazy people still consider hero shooters a "saturated genre" because it isn't, the only thing close to a competition OW could have is Paladins (a game with a brutally reduced budget because it parent company has all of their hopes placed in SMITE 2) and TF2 (an 18 Year old game that is almost abandoned) People tend to think OW is competing against Apex Legends, Rainbow 6 and Valorant, but the only thing those 3 share with OW are the FPS camera and that each has a class system. Apex Legends is a Battle Royale (wanna hear about a saturated genre?) and its competition are Fortnite and its three different flavors of BR (Modern, 2018 and Reload), Warzone, PUBG, Free Fire, The Finals, Fall Guys, Naraka Bladepoint, H1Z1, CRSD, Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodhunt, Ring of Elysium, Farlight 84, etc... Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege are Tactical shooters, their rival is CS2. Personally I couldn't be happier for the existence of Marvel Rivals, not only now the OW team has to lock in, i am also a marvel fan and i have always dreamed with a game like this.
The battle royale genre is oversaturated. The hero shooter genre was pretty much dominated by Overwatch. It never had any serious competition aside from the age old TF2. Maybe Smite, but I'm not too certain about that. Marvel Rivals is the first real threat to Overwatch in years (aside from Blizzard themselves). Actually, Blizzard has done more to damage the game before Rivals even entered the picture.
100% they've always been 90% casual players and 10% competitive players, cancelling a mode that excited 90% of your players in an effort to keep forcing content that you think the last 10% will enjoy is a tired strategy and did not work
One part I disagree with is getting rid of “forgettable characters”. For you or even many a character may be “forgettable” but for someone it’s their favorite and reason for logging in. For that reason they can never delete a character. But, they definitely need to go back to the original formula. Loot boxes, 6v6 and cutdown on all the nerfs and attempts at perfect balance. Rivals’ motto of “if everyone is overpowered, nobody is”… makes the game chaotic but FUN!
Eh. I mean, 6v6 is now in the game, and balancing characters isn’t bad. Saw someone in this comment section complaining about how Hazard isn’t good now due to his nerfs. I don’t think they played during the week or so during Season 13 where he was literally only in the game at that time for testing.
New 4v4, 2 new heroes, escort mode removed for a new sh*tty gamemode and a new kiriko skin pack for 80 bucks, def worth waiting the next 3 years with no content. Amazing!
OW2 also bothered me because I had SO MUCH currency saved up for skins like 200k, probably enough to buy everything but I just hadn't gone through and done it yet. I didn't realize I'd lose out on that and missed the launch by a week. So frustrating having to buy skins I could have got for free just a few days before.
what do you gain by stacking up an insane amount of currency and denying yourself the fun of playing with those skins....? you literally did this to yourself buddy. There was no reason or incentive for you to do what you did
@gypsylips1950 I had all the skins I liked and bought new ones as they came out. I just was less active the week OW2 launched so I missed out on the window to buy everything, but that shouldn't have even happened. Its dumb they made that currency not matter for content that it previously could buy.
@@SHUTENSEPC the problem is queues times… they need min 1 max 3 to work if they want to move to 6v6 or people won’t play… but they also have to balance that which is near impossible to do. Tanks not being raid bosses I find particularly difficult to imagine going over well
@@cococock2418 Literally nobody asked for 5v5. They just did it and every pro player or streamer said that it's a bad move and it's going to ruin the game. Guess what, game is dying. MR does what people wanted for years.
Not possible. Queue times was their main reason for 5v5, and now that they’ve lost a significant portion of their player base then queue times will be much worse in a 6v6 format than they used to be in OW1. The game will die.
@@joshmartinez7004 They said that queue times was the reason, but a dev said it an interview that queue times were in fact not the reason and just a side effect. That being said, queue times aren't even better, tank still sucks to play. They would have less problems making tanks fun to play in 6v6 and thus reducing queue times, than trying to make 5v5 work. Let's they we'd have long queue times. I'd rather wait 10min for a fun and engaging game than wait 3min for a hard stomp, ending the game in a few minutes. That's literally what my last games I did play OW have been, only stomps, no fair games, and in case you ask, I did even win most of those games and it wasn't remotely fun.
People playing overwatch right now are the same people was playing it years ago. They just got used to. Because of that overwatch online is not so bad, but obviously no more fresh players gonna join overwatch with negative reviews and everybody on UA-cam calling it dead game. You can't just add 500 anime skins on Kiriko to make people want to play and buy microtransactions, Blizzard
@@gamerbeast3616dude you are in every comment section of Marvel Rivals defending OW with your life, no matter how wrong you are. What are you, a dev? Aaron Keller, is that your alt?
I find it funny how Blizzard, a company notorious for making brilliantly designed characters and worlds, struggles to make a PvP hero shooter, so planned to make a PvE of it, and then somehow couldn't even do that. Overwatch deserves better. It's my all time favorite game and I wish I could go back to when it was an actually good game.
The reason lootboxes felt good in Overwatch was because the random loot wasn't exactly the point of them. The point of lootboxes in other games is to give you random skins and sometimes a tiny bit of currency, Overwatch did the opposite: The majority of skins I used, I got from currency dropped out of lootboxes. It was more of a "Buy or earn currency, get a chance at something cool along the way". Lootboxes being so abundant also made them feel less random, you rarely ever had "just one", which made progression feel more like a huge pile of loot than a gamblinc scheme. It averaged out each lootbox's value pretty quickly, and never took that long at all to target the one cosmetic you wanted, even if it was a legendary skin. I'm so sad that Overwatch was put under the same gambling regulations as other games, because they're the only ones who did it right. Now we have the battle pass, which *technically* abides by these regulations, but is much more aggressive to customers in practice.
3:54 "A lot of heroes play the same as before" *only applies to the gunplay-focused DPS heroes.* The rest of the roster plays NOTHING like how they used to, which is the real reason why Overwatch has declined in popularity so hard. The OW1 devs were so bad at balancing that they basically optimized the fun out of their own game. The vast majority of tank, support, and "supportive dps" players were subjected to some variation of _"my favorite character(s) stopped being fun to play after they got murdered in the patch notes;"_ and subsequently lost interest in playing Overwatch LONG before OW2 came out.
I can't lie, when I see a video like this and see absolutely no real new discussion to this whole discussion, it really makes me question your validity as a content creator, you seem to just be thriving off of negativity for views, which is clearly shown by your channel history (with all of your main biggest videos being on dead games), there's absolutely bare minimum research put into this, no real editing to make this entertaining (You're literally just sitting in front of a camera and sometimes gameplay happens) and it just feels like you're doing this to cash out, I don't like the state overwatch is in and haven't played it for years, but when you bring absolutely nothing to the table it really makes me question why you've made this video to begin with. Do better, Man.
They really gimped themselves with the massive gap between Overwatch and Overwatch 1.5... If they actually stuck to their promise of adding single player and actually added an adequate amount of content then maybe people would still be playing.
One of the main reasons why I stopped playing OverWatch 2 was not only the incredibly frustrating balance and gameplay but also the garbage Blizzard does to do it. But since Rivals came out I've uninstalled OW2 and BattleNet altogether and Rivals is the only game I've seen where Competitive is fun.
I agree with your point the same issue I had when I was playing OW and stopped playing but then gave it one more chance when they announced OW2 but yeah they just made it worse after 6v6 is gone plus they always only keep tracer and widow as the only broken DPS characters which was shit never felt playing as dps was fun and had a hard time killing tanks or healers, game became stale for me and I stopped playing it within 3 months and now rivals feel more fun and I'm able to kill heroes without trying too hard and plus i love playing the marvel characters than the woke nonsense blizzard started pushing into their game but not focusing on balance or gameplay, the only issue i have with Rivals was a slight optimisation issue besides that game feels super smooth and I can keep being mesmerized by the female characters in the game and makes me feel addicted to keep playing the game
not forcing roles is great. because if no one in the team cares about winning, this allows for all possible team combination. but the moment a role is missing and at least ONE person wants to win, that person will likely switch to fill the missing role
8:43 Imagine one day Blizzard decided to announce Overwatch without explaining anything and dropped tons of animations to complete the lore. Additionally, they decided to release an animated movie series.
We have to add up, to all the situations said in the video, the fact that their "matchmaking" system is a complete piece of garbage. 85-90% of my games are lost because the system forces a context where the other players do absolutely nothing to play and win a game. The useless company refuses to create a better representation system based on a "skill metrics" and continue to only use the number of victories and defeats, no matter how good or bad the performance of a player is. I can have a game with 0 kills and 25 deaths by s*****e and if the other manage to win that game, I counts positively for me. This is a complete non-sense, specially for a game heavily-oriented to the competitive side. That without saying the incredible amount of incompetent "players" who doesn't even care for playing. Just to screw up your games. This is a kind of cancer. The only reason I can't play Marvel Rivals is because I don't have a new console or a decent PC. Otherwise, I leave OW and Blizzard forever. With all the pain in my chest.
Making a worthless "sequel" was probably the most stupid move Blizzard could have made. Literally changing nothing for the better, the only thing they achieved was making promises they could later break. I 100% agree with your idea of just dropping the "2" from Overwatch. Of course they can make a come back. All they have to do is listen to the players. Bring back the stuff from the "good ole days", back to 6v6, limit role que, and maybe ACTUALLY start working on that PvE campaign mode (and make it at least 2-player co-op, if not 6) that'd be cool.
I'm kinna hate when ppl keep said smt like "the developer does not understand player " or "Dev is lazy" stuff, Us dev all want to do cool stuff and on top of everything, we always are the one who develop most crazy idea in the background , yet, not gonna pass through the company, audit and quality assurance, producer, etc. eyes. It is the management, operator, the finance that prevent you player to get what you want.
Actually. Every comp game has one person at least screaming in text chat complaining about something. Playing competitive when the game just came out and everyone had literally not a single care in the world, not a single complaint, just people having fun in a more serious game mode.
You not lying about 2 being when the heartbreak became too much. I was already very very tired of OW and barely played, then they teased 2 for a million years just to fall so incredibly short. We all felt that kick in the balls
No what the fuck? Jeff was part of the problem. Bobby Kotick wanted to hire more people so that they could have 2 teams, one to work on PVP and one to work on PVE. And Jeff turned it down, because he was too busy chasing the dream of finally releasing his incarnation of the unreleased "Titan". We might have gassed Jeff up when he was around, but hind sight is 20/20, and Jeff was a huge problem too.
@@ayla4682soldier i think was a sudden reveal. Basically pandering. I could be wrong. Most people dont like when something feels like pandering. With Marvel rivals tho, the character can be whatever you want since there are so many iterations of them.
All I can say as an Og Overwatch player who's been playing this game since the release of ow1 and has some e-sports background - Overwatch 2 is still a good game, but run by a bad company. Game itself is still enjoyable if you are actually good at the game, but when it comes to terrible monetization and lack of new content, thats where Overwatch 2 sucks for casual gamers. Now Overwatch is more suited for ranked grinders, who doesn't give a f about new content and pve, because they just want to improve at the game, get better rank or maybe even start esports career, and the only problem for these people are wayyy too long queue times (which still is a problem, but at least only 1). For me ow2 is still fun after those like 8 years of playing, but I can see where casual gamers frustration comes from. I just hope one day Blizzard will go through massive changes in their company and that they will make that game great again for casual gamers. And one more thing, please don't glaze MR so much and stop offending OW fans just because you are mad at the game. If you don't like OW, just don't play it, but don't offend and don't try to convince remaining OW fans that OW is trash. We live in a world where everything is possible and even though OW has like 0.02% to do a comback and MR is very popular rn, it still doesn't change the fact, that one day out of nowhere OW can do a massive update and somehow fix all it's problems plus launch OW Netflix series on a scale of Arcane and MR on the other hand can somehow turn MR into what OW is rn. I hope the best for MR even though I don'r enjoy it, but you never know what will happen in the future and no matter how insane and impossible it sounds 0,02% chance is still a chance and can happen.
The BP in Rivals cost 5 bucks, it can be complete any time even if the season ends. It has free content. And we got a ton of activities to unlock stuff!!. IT'S FUN.
Overwatch is a game i played since launch and was my favorite game , and the golden days were IMO 2016-2019 or when GOATS composition came to be. It went down hill from there, i played and loved every second of it and after it in ow2 i just ended up leaving most games with no desire to play , and end up uninstalling . I also do not wanna try marvel rivals because im so attached to old ow that it cant give me that itch , but maybe iv gotten too old for games overall.
@ yeah but i dont have the drive to Game anymore maybe its the titles i choose , i come back from work OPEN Escape from tarkov get fked , and leave since i can’t put in the hrs in those kinda games , not to mention ALL the steam games i got and never touched and when i do its Like , 1h in NAH im Done and uniinstall
you have more love for overwatch than the devs themself, but don't let that prevent you from trying other games, you're jsut gonna make yourself feel worst, you can give marverl rivals a try, you don't have to keep palying if you don't end liking it,but on the chance you do enjoy the game, why gatekeep yourself from enjoying it further due to the love for a game that it'sno longer there
I find it funny how you said the best way for OW to come back is literally to do a 100% turn around to what it was. If blizzard goes and announce “Overwatch” again. They would catch SO MUCH back lash
We're speaking too soon on MR. Sure its had a great launch, its several popular intellectual properties (from outside of gaming media) placed into a game. I think the numbers are currently skewed by casuals, and some non-gamers that will shock the doomers when they depart. Having some casual gamer friends and some super casual gamer friends they were immediately drawn to MR, but i know they don't/won't play enough to sustain the playerbase, and im sure others have friends like this. Marvel fans in general have alot to get excited about, but if you aren't a lore fanatic, or semi-hardcore gamer this type of game isn't going to hold your attention. Its the same thing that happened in OW, it was basically hardcore comp players, and super casuals who enjoyed the lore of a single hero. What MR does have in its favor is the plentiful cast of characters to add it, but eventually (just like overwatch) the new heroes are going to need new unique abilities, and those new abilities are going to diminish the fun for people who enjoyed the gameplay without those new abilities
I’m still playing overwatch today because of the characters, I love them and their abilities so much and have grown quite attached to a few of them. I don’t think I can leave for marvel rivals yet(although I do also sometimes play the game with friends) for that reason.
Thank you for ow2 , Blizzard. - 10 in-game currency - force 50% winrate - ban streamer - dev are plat player - dps are side characters - Junkenstrein and Lunar Event the mode nobody asked for - New hero = OP - Bring back exclusive skin Just go download Marvel Rivals for quality of life.
I started Overwatch when it first released, and I genuinely enjoyed it. My favorite hero was Symmetra, and I only enjoyed her more during her 2.0 rework. But when her 3.0 rework came out and I tried her out, I stopped playing OW altogether. They made stupid decisions based on what the pros want, and took her identity to become a watered down Zarya.
Overwatch 1 hole a very special place in my heart. From the format, to the rank grind, to the incredible cinematics. OW2 is a dead game and Marvel Rivals is the final nail in it's coffin. It will continue to exist, but it'll never be great again.
As someone who has played OW1 since it dropped Blizzard has done us dirty time and time again. So nice to have Marvel Rivals actually do a hero shooter correctly
It's always the good games that get dragged down because their devs don't care enough about the game and just result to monetization, apex is a pure example of this.
It took Overwatch some 3+ years until it got Role Queue. My experience of mostly playing Quick Play dramatically improved after that because I can queue for all roles and get a balanced team to work with every time. In Rivals there's too many people picking Duelist that if I wanna play Vanguard 1/2 the time I'm forced to switch to Strategist. I really don't like that. If the nature of the game was role queue for all roles for everyone I'd prefer it. In a game with 30+ characters you should learn 2-3 from each class type.
Overwatch failed due to simply the fact that 90% of its player base was casual players and stayed for the PvE mode but Blizzard removed that PvE mode and catered to the 10% competitive players
Pulling a 180 on their situation requires so much from them that it will never make financial sense to even attempt it. Overwatch will die simply because fulfilling all their promises and making it up to the players is too risky and doesn’t guarantee long-term success. So yeah, OW's days are numbered
Saying that Marvel Rivals respects their player base is really hard to take seriously when they use engagement-based matchmaking, bot lobbies to increase engagement after losing, and insane skin prices. It may be a game that offers a lot of content and that has a pretty good content and update frequency right now, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
I think Ow2 is still the more fun game if you only take the gameplay compared to rivals but i still stopped playing OW2 just to add another 1 to the "fuck you" value to blizzard
People play games because they are fun. Overwatch is dying because it's not fun. People wouldn't care about the shop if the game was still fun to play. They fucked up with 5v5, they fucked up with any balancing, they went back on literally everything they wanted to achieve.
I really miss Overwatch. But they have continuously shown the player base and myself that the Money comes first, not the Players. Overwatch League, Heroes (formerly) locked behind the Battlepass, insanely priced skins, and overall just not fulfilling promises (PvE) they made. And not just failing to fulfill them, but *lying* to the community that they were working on said promise but haven't for the last year before they announced that it was just canceled. Greed and False Promise has almost destroyed this game, unless they can pull an absolutely mythical comeback.
You can finish the OW2 Battle Pass with 30+ days left if you do the dailies and weeklies. In Marvel Rivals those purple coins are more limited and are mostly tied to dailies. For Season 0 maybe the last 10 days I had unlocked everything. Good thing the Rivals BP doesn't expire or so I've heard. I think OW2 and Multiversus have improved their BP and reward systems since launch. Grinding out Fighter Road XP in MVS is a lot better than the more limited Fighter Currency especially if you have an event skin. OW2 still has the problem of not earning enough credits each season to buy the next BP.
My only criticism with them recently is them trying to knock out cosmetic mods. Like bruh, why not? It's client-side, only I see my trollface Loki, my All-Might Hulk, Amogus Rocket Racoon, my 19 inches of Venom, Power Ranger looking guy Starlord, or even Shaggy Dr. Strange.
I came into the OW scene very late, around season 13 for OW2. I missed all the hype back when it released and I wish I was there for it. Now to see that the game is basically dead at this point sucks because i was getting into it. Me and a friend tried to queue up for a couple of games recently. We could not get a game after 10-15 minutes of waiting (and we did all role btw). I basically watched a game die in real time, and it's a shame. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever.
really well executed video. I have to say if Blizzard want OW as a game to exist at this point. They need to rebrand it to Overwatch or a catchy name like Overwatch Beyonnd etc etc etc. They have years of research of what people find fun and what not. They just need to let go of their high horse status and just do a complete make over with reworked heroes change maps aswell {Basically modernise OW} But in the 5v5 and role que is gonna be rough. Cause lets be honest 6v6 with no role que opens so many possiblities. And just to remember OW changed to 5v5 cause they just couldnt ballance certain heroes and in specific maps aswell
Marvel Rivals is good because it FEELS like you're actually the character you're playing. Swinging around as Spider-Man, flying about as Iron Man, deflecting big team-wiping attacks by Captain America, and that's amazing.
To comment on overwatch having all the creative mode maps and marvel rivals not, rivals dosnt need all the extra content because people arent desperately looking for an excuse to ditch the main game unlike overwatch.
If they really want to Fix OW2, I'd say they should actually finish PVE in Secret, Do a MASSIVE do over, revert to 6v6, and Listen to the players more.
1. Not gonna lie, Tanks aren't fun to play on Overwatch 2 (5v5 format). That's probably why there's a long queue in Quick Play, especially Ranked. Reason is you're the only tank and it puts pressure on you as a solo role. So that's what I feel. Others might disagree, but yeah, just an opinion. 2. Bland events 3. Community might be tired of playing Overwatch as stated in the video. Every other games is like this so there's no denying this. 4. Slow pump of characters.
I loved Overwatch but haven't logged in since they launched Overwatch 2, it was a huge misstep from activision blizzard. Completely addicted to Marvel Rivals now!
Overwatch died for me long before they released Overwatch 2. The main reason why I liked Overwatch in the first place was because it didn't try to force traditional FPS gunplay down my throat..... Now OW _absolutely_ shoves traditional FPS gunplay down EVERYONE'S throats. All of the fun alternatives to "just aim gun and shoot" have either been deleted from the game (via hero reworks), or gutted to the point where they're basically not allowed to get anywhere _near_ as much value as the "traditional fps" duelist heroes.
They have to add the PvE co-op missions with a roguelike twist like Junkenstein’s Lab. Release that for free on a regular schedule, and that’s how I’ll come back. Otherwise, nothing else will really bring it for me. I’m into the lore, I need story to hold me over. Marvel Rivals has the benefit of an actual story - Overwatch currently has none That, or a show with Arcane quality writing. But even that might only make me watch the show and not return to playing the game
Sorry, but I’m still going to play Overwatch regardless of how many cynical videos and remarks people make about it. I just do not want to learn another game. I already play Fortnite on top of Overwatch, and Marvel Rivals looks far too chaotic for me to want to get into. Not to mention that it seems like every time I go to see my partner, they are playing Marvel Rivals, and always making little snide remarks to me about how I should play it and how Overwatch sucks.
i was the same as you and was ridiculously surprised at how easy the game is to get into, in a few hours i had about 70% of the game understood, chose my main and have been having a blast since. i really suggest giving it a try, overwatch is just so bleh compared to how chaotically fun rivals is (even in comp).
It's too late for it to stoop as low as Concord did, nobody cared about it even on release and fell off within it's first week, probably not even that because there were what, a few 10s or 100s of players at BEST? Overwatch 2 despite all it's negative PR still goes over 30,000+ players every few days according to steamDB. It may eventually die, but not to the same extent as Concord, not even possible at this point.
Let's be fair...Blizzard is the sole reason Overwatch was in a state in which it lost most of its players. Pandering to the activists instead of the players. Forcing the game to be an E-sport title instead of allowing it to be a proper fun game. And naturally...the bait at the start where people bought into the game cause they were promised a single player campaign in addition to the multiplayer content.
I took a break from Overwatch about a month ago and decided to play paladins instead because I cant get marvel rivals right now and even tho paladins has its issue the depth of gameplay is insane compared to overwatch the different characters talents and cards that fundamentaly change the way every character is played and make every match feel different and interesting that going back to overwatch it feels hollow and every match feels the same so I haven't really felt the need to go back. I feel the only reason that paladins isn't doing the best right now is because it came out besides overwatch on and got classed as a clone even tho I thinks it has way more potential then overwatch ever had.
I took a break from OW2 and tried paladins as well. I enjoyed it at first, but the flankers being OP and Fernando never dying. Just got boring. If they nerf them, I would be back in heartbeat. For now, I'm onto MR and really enjoying it. I highly recommend it.

overwatch got really obsessed with trying to force people to play it correctly while marvel rivals is actually trying to cater how people naturally want to play

@@Riverfall_ they got non hero shooter players to join the hero shooter genre too
Over-saturated how 💀. The only other hero shooter with a notable playerbase is Paladins.
People were literally begging companies to make a hero shooter to beat OW so they wouldn't have to play OW and well, Marvel Rivals was created and it's no surprise that it's doing so well now
@@SnickersPWNAGE It’s always the “let’s see in a month/months” argument 🤡

Well would you look at that, a month later and it now has more than half a million people playing it at release of Season 1, as well as reaching 10 million players in just 3 days after release and 20 million in 11 days.
The devs have already shown to make good decisions. The game won’t die even if it’s been a damn year
Players won't come back, to Overwatch, Even if Rivals falls off players have seen how good they could have it,
i honestly believe that even if Marvel Rivals were to shut down today, OW2 would still be in decline.

It's crazy people still consider hero shooters a "saturated genre" because it isn't, the only thing close to a competition OW could have is Paladins (a game with a brutally reduced budget because it parent company has all of their hopes placed in SMITE 2) and TF2 (an 18 Year old game that is almost abandoned)
People tend to think OW is competing against Apex Legends, Rainbow 6 and Valorant, but the only thing those 3 share with OW are the FPS camera and that each has a class system.
@@pikool exactly my dude. If anything its a niche genre
Who said it wasn’t going to succeed? It’s Marvel
The pve dilemma is what alienated the overwatch audience and fans

Problem is the character nerfs are what ruined ow2. The latest sombra “fix” is what made me quick
This is why you give the fans what they ask for... not what you THINK the fans want
OW2 have 2 options:
1) Bring back 6v6 permanently and in comp.
2) Slowly lose players and die.
@@SHUTENSEPC the problem is queues times… they need min 1 max 3 to work if they want to move to 6v6 or people won’t play… but they also have to balance that which is near impossible to do. Tanks not being raid bosses I find particularly difficult to imagine going over well

Hero shooters are definitely not an oversaturated market
In my opinion the only way to bring overwatch hype back is if blizzard makes a good arcane level show

Marvel rivals: makes a good game

R34 OW artist have more soul than the devs
OW2 watching their game fall the moment Marvel rivals came: damn... here's another cosmetic event featuring kiriko and mercy
Totally agree, but you can’t just get rid of a bunch of heroes and call it a day😭 there are people who actually play them and spent money on them
Saying that Marvel Rivals respects their player base is really hard to take seriously when they use engagement-based matchmaking, bot lobbies to increase engagement after losing, and insane skin prices.
Id disagree with the more fun part. But that's me. Love the chaotic nature and unbalanced nature. Very enjoyable
In before all the extra salty Overwatch players. Oh wait..
The Overwatch 2 players are angry at the game. It's rare to find anyone (that isn't being paid by Blizzard) defending it.
When Jeff left, so did the sole of OW. Now we have Jeff The Shark to take up the mantle
6v6 is good but I think it would take much more than that maybe they can bring battle royal in overwatch
I miss lootboxes, never spent a dime and always ended up getting cool skins.
this is the only game where battle pass is problem to me. unlike other games Overwatch has EVERYTHING tied to the battle pass progression
If OW gets rid of mercy ... I'll start playing it again
Strange.
Overwatch ruined itself a while back
But I still go back just to play Sigma, god I love that man
I came into the OW scene very late, around season 13 for OW2.
Rewatch the cinematic animations. That’s what I want back. That feeling is unmatched
The ONLY thing keeping Overwatch alive unfortunately is R34. And that's pretty sad Ngl
I love how i can do literally whatever i want in marvel rivals
If they really want to Fix OW2, I'd say they should actually finish PVE in Secret, Do a MASSIVE do over, revert to 6v6, and Listen to the players more.
1. Not gonna lie, Tanks aren't fun to play on Overwatch 2 (5v5 format). That's probably why there's a long queue in Quick Play, especially Ranked. Reason is you're the only tank and it puts pressure on you as a solo role. So that's what I feel. Others might disagree, but yeah, just an opinion.
2. Bland events
Marvel Rivals has the benefit of an actual story - Overwatch currently has none
That, or a show with Arcane quality writing.
The sad truth is that the game is doing fine.
Even 2016 Blizzard was no longer a "for the gamers" company. Blizzard really sealed it's fate back in 2008 when they merged with Activision.
I'm waiting for overwatch 2 to meet the same fate as concord
Concord never achieved anything, while OW2's Rule 34 will live on forever.
It may eventually die, but not to the same extent as Concord, not even possible at this point.
i personally quit because the skins were very overpriced for me after being free for so long
Let's be fair...Blizzard is the sole reason Overwatch was in a state in which it lost most of its players. Pandering to the activists instead of the players. Forcing the game to be an E-sport title instead of allowing it to be a proper fun game. And naturally...the bait at the start where people bought into the game cause they were promised a single player campaign in addition to the multiplayer content.
I took a break from
Overwatch about a month ago and decided to play paladins instead because I cant get marvel rivals right now and even tho paladins has its issue the depth of gameplay is insane compared to overwatch the different characters talents and cards that fundamentaly change the way every character is played and make every match feel different and interesting that going back to overwatch it feels hollow and every match feels the same so I haven't really felt the need to go back.
I highly recommend it.
the ow community has single-handedly brought so many games down just bcz nothing is allowed to even resemble OW, even when OW is the game that copied so many concepts.
@@IBEYONDIBELIEF I think they did nerf him because he seems much easier to kill recently even after his ult
5:45 overwatch 2 was my introduction into the series and I wasn’t happy to see all the characters be locked
