  • We stopped and visited Tumacacori NHP recently on our roadtrip through Southern Arizona near the town of Tubac, Arizona. Originally built by early Spanish settlers in the Late 1600's, Tumacacori was a main hub in Spanish expansion in the Southwest territory through the 1800's until the Spanish left turning the area over to Mexico and eventually the United States. Tumacacori was declared a National Historic Park in 1908 by President Theodore Roosevelt.
    Enjoy,

a recommendation to all that travel below tucson, az about the illegals and cartels, WATCH OUT FOR THEM? i have a older home right near the border, in an old mining camp in RUBY,AZ . bought the land around the area, and built a home from a older hill top home, outside looks like junk , but inside is all brand new, . the problem is its in the middle of nowhere, , but quiet and peaceful. my water is pumped from the near lake and im ok,. but the traffic of cartels and illegals is crazy, im ex military turned miner, so i can handle myself , but for the average person out here, its A DEATH SENTENCE! PLEASE WHEN TRAVELING SOUTH OF TUCSON, AZ WATCH YOUR SELF AND ALWAYS COME PACKING A GUN , YOUR GOING TO NEDED IT.

Had no problem out that way - I grew up in Tucson and my grandfather and uncle both worked for the mines in San Manuel and Duval, I remember my Dad taking us out to Arivaca and Ruby one day and seeing lots of no trespassing signs with warnings and that was late 70’s early 80’s! Kinda rough area then. Never a bad idea to stay aware and be prepared no matter where you go these days.
