I know these are extremely rudimentary for you, but it definitely helps low level players like myself to understand your thought process. Thanks for this!
I second that, as many of us before liking your comment.
To make a comparison to drumline rudiments, everything all the way to the most complex and difficult pieces and solos stem from application of the basic rudiments. Hope that gives some resolve to those looking to improve, just drill the basics and apply them! glhf.

You can tell he nearly instantly sees the solution to these when they come up
@@j24680 funny thing is that I have just seen the board and he has already counted the material, seen the solution, seen what was appealing to me and I could have done wrong, and much more!

That’s when I shook my fist and yelled ”YES!”

Your explanations make it seem like you're just at our level logically thinking through the steps with us, but then I watch your bullet matches with Minh and I'm immediately reminded of the absolute beast behind. Great stuff!
I think there's value in consuming beginner content even as an intermediate or advanced player, because different teachers have different different advice and it all adds to your perspective, and strengthens your foundational knowledge
I'd watch the beginner and intermediate puzzle videos all day. Danya is the only GM who can do this kind of teaching where he can shift his perspective to a beginner/weak player. It is a real gift.
Just subbed, started chess in June and I’m only around 12-1300 so far. These masters and grandmasters on UA-cam are an absolute gift.
How did you start?
@@Megah one of my best friends have been playing chess ever since he was a kid. His dad was actually a state champion in HS. I’ve always seen him playing the game on his phone occasionally when we would chill out. I was always intrigued, but I figured I was too old to get into it and It would take too much to learn(I’m 23). In the summer, I was bored and didn’t have much to do so I started to learn the basics. Before I knew it I got hooked. Started at around 400 elo and peaked at like 1350 a week or so ago. As of now I hover in the 12s and 13s but hope I can get better. It’s a wonderful game
Jesus, you've only been playing a few months and you're already 12/1300?? You're a prodigy
@@JasonAhl I wouldn’t go that far man, I’ve put in a lot of hours already. I have a feeling making the jump from 400 to 1200 is easier than 1200 to 17-1800. Also, I have friends of higher ratings showing me the ropes(one is 1700) I wouldn’t say I’m close to a prodigy but hope in the next few years I could have a rating of 1700 or so!
On what platform?
It's been fun watching these videos, and really helpful. I just broke 1300 puzzle rating a couple days ago. It took a while, but these videos honestly helped get me out of that 1200s area that I was struggling with before. It always helps to relearn, or see things in a new perspective.
I'm in exactly the same boat as you my man! On a side note I love otters
Me too, I'm around 1300 trying to climb
My best friend is a beginner, so I sent him this video, and I know it will serve him well! It helped me, an intermediate/advanced player also, given how involved the first puzzle was in particular.
Right like I'm an "intermediate" player as well, and I stared at that first puzzle for a solid 30s seeing nothing. I found it on my own eventually, but still!
What ratings are you guys at?

@@natasdabsi1138 I asked the question to brag about my rating :(

I like these puzzle walkthroughs, but the main issue I have, is that even knowing it's a puzzle can narrow your mind set of what the move might be, as Danya said, you're usually looking for a move that wins material or mates, when a game involves a lot more intricacies. I'd like to see some general positions of varying difficulty where either specific move that maintain advantage or general attacking/defending ideas, as well as everything in between, like doubling rooks, setting up a battery moving flank pawns in opposite castled positions to create an attack, or using a minor piece to intercept attacks. Or even broader ideas, like which files and diagonals are important to place your pieces on, pawn structure, stuff like that.
This is exactly the issue with puzzles, you're in tactics mode by default, whereas the hard part in the actual game is realising that you have something. I, for one, am 700 points higher rated in puzzles than i am in PvP modes, and there's no way that i'm ever getting those 700 extra points since they would take me into titled player ratings
@@lred1383 yeah the puzzle rating system is pretty arbitrary
14:32
The fact that I predicted the moves you were gonna use in order to explain without telling the final solution makes me feel proud haha
I liked the harder puzzles personally. Especially with your explanation it was very informative and felt like I could follow the logic behind exploring complex lines.
It'd be interesting to see the hardest puzzles you can do, or at least more at the hard end.
it would be fun to watch him do puzzle survival like hikaru. im interesting in how many he can do
This series has been great, and I’m looking forward to an endgame series, hopefully you’ll include more difficult endgames. Would love a series on understanding pawn structures and middlegame strategic planning for intermediate and advanced players as well!
I feel like this has helped me understand desperado plays. Losing material on purpose to come out on top never felt intuitive, but I'll be looking for these more now.
Fantastic to also do some beginner's work!
11:48 - it seems as though Rxb6 is the only move, as with the hypothetical a5, Black would gain a tempo for Nd5, saving the knight and protecting the rook.
"Ok, next position [1 millisecond] ... well this is a mate in one"
I've secretly been a fan for a while now, Daniel. I love your content as I've found it very straightforward and insightful. Keep up the good work buddy!
Great video again Daniel! Im a beginner and and i whatch your video's everyday, learning so much about chess, it is awesome! Thanks Daniel!
"When you go to a pawnshop , no pawn intended" gotta love danya XD
Really Love these series. You do so much good work and help so many players. Keep up the great videos
Most of these were quick to solve, but I still find the tuition great - awesome stuff Danya
While the puzzles are beginner rated, the thought-processes and pearls of wisdom are so valuable. I'm trying to climb my way up to 1700 but I still find so much value from watching Danya go through his thought-process for these "easy" puzzles.
Really appreciate all of these videos. Very instructive and very helpful. Thanks!
This video truly helped me open my eyes a bit more to solving not only puzzles but certain positions within my games! Me being a ~700 rated player, I love these kinds of videos. Not to mention, I’ve been watching naroditsky for awhile and he never ceases to amaze me!! Thank you for the instructional video!! Keep up the great work 👍👍
I want more master level puzzles. This can't be the last video. It just can't be! DANYA!
Thank you for doing this Danya!
That was instructional for intermediate players like me as well. You can never do too many basics. Or as Bruce Lee put it "I don't fear the man who has practiced a thousand kicks, but the man who has practiced one kick a thousand times"
19:10 ha, yes. That puzzle is a bit more confusing if your mindset is "there's gotta be a mate here, right?".
The single bane of every puzzle... "I won a queen... but was there mate???" Almost as bad as watching Hikaru/Danya do the 3000+ ones where the compensation is not obvious at all.
11:52; if there was a pawn that moved to a5, Black would have had ...Nd5 blocking white's queen from reaching a8. That being said, that was just me being a nitpicker. Your chess education content is absolutely awesome and thank you for all that you do :)
Always helpful, thanks for everything man!
Thanks Dani! What a phenomenal lecture.
I'm 1200 and benefitted a lot from the advanced and master level video. I'd love it if you did more of those, they were great.
Give it time. He’s only one person and can only do so many videos in such a short amount of time. Let him cater to all levels
Woww, Desperado capture is amazing
Loved this little series. Thanks Danya.
Not new to chess but still enjoyed the video! Kinda like a refresh of the basics
Just gotta say, love the thumbnails in this series.
I hope you keep doing these in order, Part II, go through the cycle again. Such great content
I'd love to see a series "Deconstructing Chess" where each piece is introduced individually at all stages of a game, then in various combinations. it seems like it could serve both novices and advanced viewers well.
I adore your content and learn so much. Keep it up!!!!
Hi Danya, I absolutely love your content. You are the G.O.A .T Teacher. Just one question, In the first puzzle 4:14 after Nb5 Black Played Qb4. Even though White is threatening a fork but after Black's Queen Lands on B4 now there is a Double Attack on the e4 Bishop. As White went on to capture the rook, now Black can play Qxe4. I agree White is up an exchange but I felt the Knight on a8 may never comeback to it's original territory. Felt like the solution was bit unclear. Thanks a lot for your content, Always a Big Fan of you🙏🙏🙏
Well, unlike the master-level puzzles, I can at least get all of these correct. I didn't end up correctly solving a single one of those.
Among many others, That type1 and type2 unprotected piece information is diamond.
I like how it solves it in like 2 seconds and start expanding immediately
4:15 I saw this line and wasn't convinced because the Bishop on e4 hangs and after Nxe8. The knight on F3 is also pinned and undefended after the e4 bishop is captured. Why is this winning for white? Seems unpleasant.
Excellent video, can’t wait for the endgame videos
Great video Danya! Thanks!
Lol Danya I thought your terminology of type 1/2 undefended piece was a reference to Ghostbusters, somehow.
These are great videos. Endgame theory is going to be interesting. It always seems like the toughest chess topic to teach.
ahh yes, finally the level that i can relate to
The speed of explanation is perfect. Love your videos. I watched Gotham chess but he's way to fast for me. Thank you))
Thanks for doing these. IT's been really interesting. Please *do* make some endgame videos. I think that would be really instructive.
"This is very instructive"
The new position has barely popped out...
For next videos pls increase volume. I am using app for boosting audio on my phone. :) Useful video
Pawn shop was such a good unintentional pun
more of these please!
The first puzzle doesn't seem so clear cut to me. Aren't we losing our bishop on e4 at the end of the line? And then we'll lose an exchange after we move our knight away from f3? And won't our knight on a8 get trapped? So overall we're losing 8 points of material just to win a rook and pawn?
Agree. Would love if someone could explain how this is winning given the bishop on e4 could get captured by the knight on f6 next, which leaves the f3 knight perilous as well.
You're right that this isn't completely winning for a beginner. You're only up an exchange after black takes the bishop on e4 with the knight. I just don't think it's trivial to win the knight on a8, though.
Ya a beginner is going to have a hard time converting this I think, but basically black can take the knight 2 ways:
Most beginners probably take with the queen there, which is actually a huge mistake because of Qc3, which threatens mate on c7. Black has to defend the c7 square, and the Qa5+ is coming. Black is dead in the water after that, and is either going to get mated or have to give up massive material in order not to.
That leaves taking with the knight. After Nxf4, you’ll notice that the queen is the only defender of the knight, so white can try to deflect the Queen with a3. The only way to maintain defense of the knight is Qa4. Now white can set a trap by playing Nd4 and cutting off the Queen from the rook, which looks like it gives up the exchange on d1. If black plays Bxd1 however, white plays Qxe4. In that position, white is actually threatening to win the queen by playing Ne6+, so black is going to end up losing the Bishop in order to deal with that threat. So taking on d1 is no good, so your only other option really is to defend the knight, you can’t really move it because of the Qc3 idea, and it controls the c3 square. In that position, black is also in huge trouble. Black can’t waste time trying to win the knight back in the corner because white is going to be able to bring their pieces to the center of the board, open up the position and have a huge attack on black’s king.
Loving recent uploads - OG fan
Man I could watch this all dau
really good explaining
thanks for your help
No 'pawn' intended....😂
That got me...😂😂
So many players will be in between each level of video, don’t stop
I really can not comprehend how someone could dislike this video. (or any other instructional Danya video for that matter)
troglodytes from Hikaru's den, perhaps? How that charmless man has more followers than Naroditsky is totally beyond me..
Dude, every single video on UA-cam has dislikes. That is absolutely normal thing. I am seeing this kind of comments on almost every video. First of all, very often people are on their phones, and dislike is accidental, but sometimes there will just be dislikes unexplained.
Any possibility for pawn end game puzzles?
i love the fact that the first puzzle in the beginner video was much more complicated than the first puzzle in the grandmaster video 🤣
Awsome content
my typeof stuff love you daniel
For the first problem, what at the ends of the tactics there is Nxe4 for black
Could you please consider making some videos where you review games of players from different elos
6:50 why does the black queen take back and not the rook?
The first puzzle was pretty tough lol
This is gold
Excellent
Please make the tutorial for end game too
Last video 😪 please do more of these !
Any more speedruns coming? Not that I don't appreciate any content you're my favourite Sub on youtube my far, amazing teacher!
Wow, puzzles I actually can solve live while the video is playing. Is this still chess?
Thank you!
Danya, you sir are awesome!
It would be great if you did a GM-level puzzles video. Would really help to have something to reach for and see a GM mind at work. Amazing content, thank you!
That was his last video before this!
@@evanbelcher Those were Master level.
i can just say # YOU ARE THE BEST COACH #
Awesome video
Question. In a 60+ move game of 5|5, and your opponent ends the game with more time than they started with (say 5.30), at what accuracy would you begin to suspect a CHEATER-CHEATER PUMPKIN EATER?
Is it only me or are the tags really bad? How for example is 6:06 a fianchetto, doubled rook, or skewer? And back rank is imho missing.
I have a question, what is a good rating in puzzles for someone who have 4 months playing the game?
Looking forward to the endgame videos
Entertaining and educational
How do you count material so quickly? Is there some sort of trick?
it's better to set a more specific range.
The desperado moves are very helpful🕵🏻♂️
Can I get to know like where do u get all this puzzles please
like I'll too practice
anyone ? help
10:54 wtf danya 😂
I would appreciate more master puzzles. Since they are harder you only solved 4 in a video :(
This was really helpful as a 1300
I swear half of these beginner puzzles were harder than the intermediate.
Could Max build an algorithm in his computer to solve these in a month
why are the opponent moves so poor on low level puzzles?
When the 1st puzzle is not a backrank mate in 1 😭
is not the position in the first puzzle after we win the rook , our bishop is lost and the position is losing how is this right ?
I agree it actually looks really bad if you calculate further
Danya 💖
Danya if you see this where is Ryan higa..
hey
hey how's it going
