I wish the interview had been longer. Amy seemed to really start coming out of her shell there - and it really shows how very much she's NOT this ditzy, simple-minded emo chick some people portray her as. Again, an excellent interview!
who else was really interested in hearing Amy's personal experience in highschool? It looked as tho she was goin to open up to us. I really would like to learn more about her
This was such a great interview. Amy has a really good outlook on the media that I agree on. She deals with stuff really smoothly, and its amazing how she does it. This just shows how strong Amy is, and how strong Evanescence has become. Btw, the high school thing is soo true. lol.
I just would like to state that I believe arrogance is one who gets ahead of themselves and can't back it up. But I think she's just a confident person because she is gifted and performs really well. And she knows it. Anyway, it's so refreshing to see a female performer who isn't singing a album about love and relationships. There's nothing wrong with that, but enough is enough. Being an artist encompasses creativity not monotony.
I still get shivers down my spine whenever I hear Bring Me to Life. It's just one of those songs that will never lose it's emotional impact. Or maybe that's just me.
5:38 I ADORE that look...where she sais his manager called and told me ben is gonna leave go to his hotel room and tell him to stay...Did you go? No.. :P
I know there's a strong anti-religion/Christian sentiment in this crowd, but that's going a bit far... I also love how people can say whatever they want about Christianity, but if you made the same comment about any other religion, notably Islam, people would freak on your ass... Bit of respect dude... Devout Christian doesn't mean some old person that walks around quotintg the bible, it just means they've got a strong faith... No one that bitches about Christianity even understands it now
@BurningAlienSyndrome Gray and LeCompt were in the band cause they consider this as just a job so they don't matter yes and believe me you wouldn't mention either a bassist that joined the band some months ago lol. Also Ben and Amy were written the songs so...

"We just started touring like, 3 days ago on this Canadian tour and it's BIG and AWESOME...!!!" Good luck with your BIG and AWESOME career...you may get rich, but are you happy inside? Good luck...most people who make it BIG and AWESOME in the music world NEVER learn...(sigh) God Bless TOOL.
@Maltz007 Pop has it's own characteristics, music characteristics,it's not every popular music anymore and you can hear a lot of songs anywhere in a shopping mall especially the singles of a band whichever is it's genre.Anyway yes they are not a goth band I agree their music is just alt metal and maybe it has some goth elements but they are not goth.
I agree with your statement on the whole [and I liked that it was well articulated :)]. I'd just like to add that, previously, I've felt that while Evanescence put out music I enjoyed, the live performances and attitudes she fronted made her seem arrogant without being able to back it up. A few more recent live performances have shown that her voice has strengthened and she's doing better, and as with all I've said, that's all my opinion.
Thanks for the great response. And having an opinion is number one, regardless if another agrees or not. And yes I really like that quote that you pointed out. It's absolutely true. Additionally, I listen to bands like Metallica, Alice in Chains, AC/DC etc. where they write their own stuff. So I foremost assume one being an artist that this is a prerequisite to that profession. Consequently, I just realized my naivety on that aspect. Long live rock n roll!!!
This interviewer is clearly trying to break Amy down. He's asking questions about any weakness she might have and targeting those weaknesses like Barbara Walters pushing people to have an emotional breakdown on camera. I can see that Amy KNOWS exactly what he is trying to do to her. It's funny too how she parleys his psychological attacks so gracefully and he has no idea that she knows his intentions perfectly well. . . . . . . . . Reiden
That bio intro is ridiculous and that man is so condescending 😂 First, "gothy pop" 😂 Back when if you weren't male-driven macho aggression or growl vocals, you were "pop" to the male-dominated metal scene regardless. POP 😂 In reality, Ev is a gothic-tinged alternative metal and hard rock band that blends rock, classical music, alternative music, symphonic, industrial, and electronica. Ev is not a goth band and Amy never wanted to be boxed into goth. Second, Amy isn't and was never a "devout" Christian. Whoever wrote that decided to completely ignore her comments in interviews saying that the band was never a Christian band, she was completely against their label's initial promotion of the band in the Christian market, that it was Ben initially who wanted that as he was the devout religious person, which he had said himself in a pre-Fallen interview and he also thanked Jesus in the liner notes. Amy said she has never been formally religious but would still consider herself Christian or a person who believes in a God. Lastly, and this is not only misleading but so damn sexist lmao - Evanescence was not "born when the band's former guitarist Ben heard Lee playing piano at a youth camp ... But Ben didn't hold that against her, he still wanted to make music with her". Evanescence was born when classical piano-playing AMY met Ben at the youth camp where they were loners, he played acoustic guitar and she thought they could play music together. AMY formed Ev to blend her various musical tastes, all the aforementioned. She and Ben soon started making and playing music from her home studio initially. Ev was originally just the duo of Amy and Ben until years later when Amy made it a band. And those "creative differences" by which Ben left were primarily because, not only was and is he a toxic, abusive, drug-addicted volatile a-hole, his focus was on commercializing the band further, approaching music only from a commercial and pop standpoint, undermining Amy and her compositions, publicly undermining her too, and wanting to do the same thing over and over, which Amy did not want; she wanted instead to try other things, explore, and evolve over the years through her various musical interests. After he left, he then went on to work with pop stars.
Fans of Evanescence check out the female fronted metal Band "EPICA", as well as "Nightwish", 'Tristania" and well there's many others. Amy's great, but some of these female singers and bands in general will blow you away{especially "Epica" IMHO}.
The "mano cornuto" is not necessarily a symbol of the devil, it was popularized in rock and metal when bands like black sabbath were emerging and has evolved into a symbol for rock in general. What is hypocritical about performing songs like "My Immortal" to athiests when there are immense amounts of religious poeple listening also. Do not post comments like this on videos, it makes you look ignorant and uneducated.
Also, like you said, I like that she isn't the stereotypical "pretty girl" singing all the same songs written by someone else. And I do think she's on to something about the "if I wear tight clothes, people think I don't write my own songs." lol
i love this interview... she's so ..WOW.. natural and down to earth.
