    I find with a lot of grinders you get more consistent input/output without using the bellows. I opened up the declumper on the original df83 a bit more and found retention had improved as a result and I often don't use the bellows. If you hit the bellows at the end youd probably get a little coffee out I'd think? There's likely some retention still being exchanged but likely a tiny negligible amount. On mine if I hit the bellows I'll get another 0.3g out usually. Amount being exchanged between the doses might be even less than that so negligible.

      Thanks for sharing your experience. It's interesting to hear that you've found more consistent input/output without using the bellows and that you were able to improve retention by opening up the declumper on the original df83. The majority of grinders (if not all) have a degree of exchange, the question then becomes how much. We are not finding exchange to be a huge issue or even something of any concern on the DF83.

      hey! How do you like the v2? Would you recommend it? I want to make espresso and café creme with it. Would you recommend it for me, when I have to change grind size daily between café creme and espresso? :) Thx!!

    Just got my df83v2 still figuring out how to get as consistent batches as yours. Basically playing with rdt, bellows, and hot start but can't seem to nail it. Surprising how consistent you got it with just a hot start. Also would it be amazing if you could do a vid about alignment

      @FrankiesBeansMachines  Рік тому

      There are a lot of variables for consistency. You will find as you run more coffee through the grinder and the burrs get bedded in that your consistency will improve. Also your atmospheric conditions such as humidity play a role so you may not get the same results as myself. Either way I hope you are enjoying the DF83 and just be patient and give it some time for it to settle down. Thanks for the burr alignment suggestion. Will look to put a video together.

    Thanks for posting this.
    I was wondering if the grinder was perfectly cleaned/empty before the first grinding. I feel that some of the grinders still retain some residual grind. This then gets mixed in with the nexts runs, while leaving some grind in the machine for future runs. So while all in all it appears to be zero retention, the output contains old grinds to some extent.

      Grinder was not perfectly cleaned before the first grind however you raise a good point and I have opened the grinder to see how much coffee remains in the chamber and it is actually minimal. I've take a picture of it however I can't seem to be able to add it to my reply here. I would also say that the majority of grinders (if not all) have a degree of exchange, the question then becomes how much. We are not finding exchange to be a huge issue or even something of any concern on the DF83.

    If you can try dark roast, it stick far more than medium. Mine V1 stick 2 g in chute. Need to know if I should upgrade.

      Will give it a try however I suspect v2 with the antistatic will make a significant improvement compared to what you are experiencing.

    Is it worthwhile removing the declumper on the V2? Everything I saw about the V1 said it was pretty much mandatory

      @FrankiesBeansMachines  Рік тому +2

      Testing it at the moment. Initial findings are for filter removing the declumper almost completely removes the need to bellow.

    Can I ask what scale you are using

    The only thing is you should have measured the cup before each dose for what's left in the dosing cup. Probably not much. Thanks

      all the paper cups are the same and in all honesty the little ground coffee that may be found stuck to the side walls does not even register on the scales as it is so negligible.
