If you guys are new the Kaveman is the absolute best for explaing every single thing for beginners I started about 2 months ago and was constantly having problems now I have a crystal clear thriving family in my aquarium all thanks to The Kaveman Kev! Thank you!!!
I can't remember how long I've watching this man's videos but thanks to you I have nice clean water in my tanks and even had the courage to get bigger fish than when I started. Thank you
This thing has saved me, i test often and have had the ammonia alert in my larger tank. I always would compare results at first and it seemed to be a good indicator so i stopped testing ammonia as often. One night after the alert being yellow all day it was all of sudden blue.. did a small water change found the problem and if it wasnt for the alert I mite not have reacted as quick or found the issue.
You have no idea how much Kevs videos have helped me. I got into the hobby about 4 months ago. Started with a 29 gallon, then a 55 and now have a 120 breeder. (All 3 tanks now lol). I stock American cichlids (I know he loves his africans), but the first 2 months were brutal. I was constantly on the brink of losing all my fish because of ammonia and nitrites. I didn't fully understand the nitrogen cycle, but thankfully I ran into this guys UA-cam page. Thanks to him, I have 3 beautiful tanks and am more excited then ever to grow my hobby.
Another awesome video Kev. My son bought me a 75 gallon tank and stand for my birthday which is next Tuesday. Under your advice from a previous video Kev, I took all my mbuna from my 53 gallon and all my mbuna from my 55 gallon and put them in my new 75. I have 2 canister filters and 2 seachem tidal 110's on there plus a sicce wave maker. I treated the water with Safe and stability and all my fish are happy. Water parameters are excellent. Thanks for all you do for the hobby Kev. My son and I are extremely grateful. BTW, glad you don't live in Buffalo lol

Hey kev, hope you’re having a great day, I have spotted my precious goldfish to have sudden Popeye. He is 7 years old so I think maybe his immune system may be weaker. I spotted an early care of fin rot about a week ago and did daily salt baths on him. Two days ago I decided to do a methylene blue salt bath, everything was slightly underdosed I transported him with my hands gently and tried to be as careful as I could, I left him in the bath for around 8 minutes and took him out the same way (I’m suspicious that the Popeye may have been because I didn’t wash my hands well before handling him when I put him back in the tank. it was his first time being in Methylene B. And yesterday morning I noticed both of his eyes to be buldging out. I was wondering if you had any advice, thank you
Thank you Ruth, Hopefully, someday you will be ready to try them again. I've found they aren't really to difficult if you keep up with the maintenance they need 😊 Sorry Im only getting to your comment now, UA-cam doesn't always do a great job with notifications.
Hello Kev, a few days ago I bought two Corydoras and one died today. And some of my discus and my rainbow peacocks have some red stringy poo hanging out of them. What do I do?!
Hey brother, im so sorry to hear about what happened, i hope youve been doing good. i know next time you got it and will do great though! I was thinking that when you do get another one maybe itd make it easier to use a bigger quarantine tank? To offset the bio load even more?
That was my original plan for the next one, a bigger quarantine. But I want to prove that it can be done the exact way I tried, minus the neglect part because some have become doubtful of the Prime method actually working. But I am going to shorten the quarantine time down to only 1 week, just to make sure he’s eating well.
Use them on my tank. As a head's up - Petsmart should be selling all Fluval equipment for 1/2 off on Black Friday. My PetSmart had 10 FX-6's for 1/2 off last year.
Soo, how do I know if I’m over feeding my fish? My ammonia is at 1PPM. Im using prime and stability every day. Tank is 2/3 weeks old and was introduced fish right away. I think I’m experiencing ammonia burns on my fish. Please help!!!! ❤
So ive had An ammonia alert in my tank for a while and it always reads in the alert color. But when i do a water test it shows that i have zero ammonia. No idea why the alert always stays in alert. Also as an fyi i have several tanks with the alerts in them and it only happens in one of my tanks. Maybe one of the alerts i got was a lemon 🤷🏻♂️
Yes I’ve done everything I know to do to my freshwater fish tank and I can’t get my total alkalinity down and ph. I’ve removed/ added new water added the highly recommended ph down everything! Now I’ve added actual pet moss to my tank. Still nothing 😢
Sorry bro! I tried this when I was cycling fishless and I added ammonia to the tank api test came out with 6ppm but this alert did not change any colour. I tried new alert same did not change colour.
YES! I use them on my QT tanks and any new tank that will go through a cycle. Once your tank is established and mature then you dont really need to keep track of ammonia.
Hi Kev/ KaveMan Aquatics and everyone. Firstly thank you very much for sharing this wonderful information regarding Fish tank aquarium maintenance tips/ tricks especially useful for beginners like myself. I was just wondering in thus video clip you seem to show the package from Seachem which has blue and white colour around it but the link in the description you have provided vua Amazon is showing a different colour packaging which is I think brown/ yellowish colour despite having same either ammonia alert or the combo set from Seachem so I was just wondering if you or someone whom has experience using these products can help and let me know if there is any difference in the two such as blue packaging for example for Freshwater fish and other colour one being saltwater/ marine for example possibly? Or if it's just both the same. Thank you very much again. Tom from UK.
The yellow packaging is good for a year. It comes with multiple sensors. The blue packaging only has 1 of each 😊 The one I have linked is the best value.
@@KaveManAquatics Thank you so much again for your kind message/ quick reply regarding the Seachem products. I really look forward again for more informative and great videos like this. Thank you, Tom.
Kaveman I have one better, check out Seneye device ! I have that in my tanks and it monitors free ammonia, ph & temp ! You connect it to your wifi, and their is an app and the Seneye device takes ammonia, ph, & temp readings every thirty minutes, so you can stay on top of your levels ! You can see the readings in the app and even the device lights up when parameters are out of whack !! Definitely check it out Kaveman, you wont be dis-appointed !!
Seachem products here in Australia are so expensive. Many LFS’s slap ridiculous margins on the whole sale price Smaller bottles of prime go for close to $50 in some places. Purigen is crazy expensive with 1l coming in over $100. The products are good and often necessary but finding a good reasonably priced supplier can be a challenge. I have found it is often cheaper to by larger quantities and ship from the states.
Do they make one of these to monitor ph and both types of ammonia that are digitally connected? It seems that one connected to your smartphone would let keepers be able to monitor all their tanks simultaneously.
Hi, I use an Rv inlet filter to remove. Chlorine from water to add water to my tank, have you heard of this method before? Do you know if it’s good or bad? I tested it and it has no chlorine in it after the filter. Thank you

And yesterday morning I noticed both of his eyes to be buldging out. I was wondering if you had any advice, thank you
I'm so jealous you have all those beautiful discus. I was not successful with that fish and they are so freaking cute.
Thank you Ruth, Hopefully, someday you will be ready to try them again. I've found they aren't really to difficult if you keep up with the maintenance they need 😊
Sorry Im only getting to your comment now, UA-cam doesn't always do a great job with notifications.
always thought these indicators worked with a pointer like a thermometer or barometer. Didn;t realize the center changed color.
I didn’t realize how many people didn’t know about these until this video. I thought I was the only one just finding out lol 🤣
I used seachems ammguard ,instead of prime and it saved a lot of my fish!!!
Had these in my tank. They kept ripping them off the wall lol
lol savages! 🤣
Do or have you ever used Amguard or just stick to Prime for ammonia?
Good video thanks, question I heard the alert last a year, how do you know when its depleted??
Keep track of when you install it. It's good for 6 months.
Newbies should check out the Kavemans new books too!!! CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER and KEEPING African Cichlids. Paperback or Kindle.
Thank you for the shout out my bro! 😁💪
GAME CHANGER!!
You didn’t know either??? I thought I was the only one late to the game lol
@@KaveManAquatics man that's all good right there
Sorry bro! I tried this when I was cycling fishless and I added ammonia to the tank api test came out with 6ppm but this alert did not change any colour. I tried new alert same did not change colour.
I thought this product was to good to be true thats why I never bought one, I’m going to try one .
I thought so too until I tested it and saw the color change myself 😁
Kaveman do you really suggest getting one of these? Also as of rite now do you currently use the Seachem Ammonia Alert on your Aquariums?
YES! I use them on my QT tanks and any new tank that will go through a cycle. Once your tank is established and mature then you dont really need to keep track of ammonia.
@@KaveManAquatics So I need it for starting a new Cichlid Aquarium?
Can I use it to monitor during the cycle of the tank? .
Thank you,
Tom.
I have a dumb question so the alert should be in the water correct asking cause my tank is not completely filled with water
Yes it needs to be submerged.
seachem got the goods
Yes Sirr! 😁💪
My buddy's tank has this cotton like stuff all over his tank does anyone know what this is
Kaveman I have one better, check out Seneye device ! Definitely check it out Kaveman, you wont be dis-appointed !!
you say it’s an app ? how do you get the device
ok just found on Amazon but ratings are only 3.5 ?
@@jeffbarnes2014 Works well for me. I enjoy using it ! Keeps me from having to use the API Masterkit, which saves money over time
Seachem products here in Australia are so expensive.
Really wow, didn’t know that! Yea if you can buy in bulk and wait for shipping that would be your best bet.
AMMONIA... the invisible killer!
Yes sir!!!
If you want to test if this works out it above a open bottle of windex and watch the sticker change colors. I’ve use these for years
I did exactly that in the video. Did you miss it? Lol
@@KaveManAquatics didn’t see it 👍🏻
Do they make one of these to monitor ph and both types of ammonia that are digitally connected? It seems that one connected to your smartphone would let keepers be able to monitor all their tanks simultaneously.
That would be an awesome product, but no digital versions are made as of yet 😊
Seachem should do api kit
They do have test kits but they are individual test for each parameter. Check out Seachem.com 😊
Kaveman✌🏾😄😊
Hi, I use an Rv inlet filter to remove. Chlorine from water to add water to my tank, have you heard of this method before? Do you know if it’s good or bad? I tested it and it has no chlorine in it after the filter. Thank you
Havent heard of it, but if it really removes chlorine and other metals from the water that would be great.
And don't get me wrong I love seachem products I use them all
Ph alert as well
