    Saw this buggy at windrock today,. excellent work on the build by Jake and his crew,. It most certainly has the engine for making power, however I must say from a driver's standpoint, this guy has a long way to go to learn the buggy, (it was a crowd let down when he took the easy way out on 2nd hill but gotta give him a break here) there is no substitution for seat time! I used to Hill climb with Clayton Hollingsworth, Charlie boling Darrell Jones and many others and it takes a driver to make all this work. That buggy is nice to be sure, but it takes a driver's skill to put it on top. Time will tell.

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo

      It still needs some more shock tuning and he needs seat time in it for sure since this was his first time hitting the hill with it. He will get there, we were just glad to beat all of the gremlins, make it to the race and climb both hills. It has been a struggle the past few weeks to make it all happen

    You guys are Gods ! I literally looked up all those mods and parts over the last year and spent time planing and saving my money so I could do exactly what you guys have done! I love it! Thank-you for going into detail on it, this is now my recipe for awesomeness. I have so many questions like, does burning alcohol over gas produce more torque and is the block aftermarket aluminum, where is the power band and is that why you chose the gearing you did? What transmission and transfer case did you go with? I would literally push a broom for you guys in the shop just so I could learn. You rock so hard! Epic.

      Yessir, well 900, but these buggies loose up to 60% through the massive drivetrains. Our tires weigh as much as most street car’s complete axles and rotational mass is extremely power robbing. Also 2” diameter axle shafts, 1/4” wall driveshaft tubing, big heavy driveshafts all come in to play

    • @bustedknuckleoffroadllc5060
      @bustedknuckleoffroadllc5060 5 років тому +2

      There are a couple things working against us getting high RWHP numbers.
      1) these buggies do not have high range in the T-case. We have to dyno with the vehicle in low range which throws the dyno off
      2) we have to dyno in 1st gear. We cannot spin these tires over 80mph (dyno owner’s rule). First gear hit 64mph.
      3) crazy high rotational mass. 180# tires, a 720# axle, and U-joints the size of softball suck crazy amounts of hp out of the rig.
      A pro-charged 565ci big block is going to make 1400-1600hp and most people wouldnt argue with that. The RWHP numbers are proof that we aernt making up a %50-%60 loss between crank HP and RWHP, not proof that the engine doesnt have that type of power.

    So odd you lose so much power. I ran my semi on the dyno and it's a 525 horse n14 and I got 445 to the ground. That's with 44" tall tires on steel wheels and between all 8 of them, weighs more than the axles complete on that buggy. Not to mention the transmission and rearends have over 2500 pounds of gears spinning inside them. You wanna talk about parasitic loss. But yet still less than 20% loss.

      @@the_visionvry6244 In top fuel drag cars running the blower eats up almost 1000hp if I remember right. I assume that is what is eating the bulk on this one, think average loss to run just the blower is around 30%. Add on drive train loss and you get the numbers he is talking about. Blowers make incredible quick power but also take a lot to run. Most smaller engines will actually lose hp if you put a blower on them. That said, there is no substitute for big block blower throttle response.

      @bustedknuckleoffroadllc5060 5 років тому +6

      Christian Reed that is correct. Id love to bet you and take your money 💰.
      We dyno rock bouncers all the time and a rear steer bouncer will suck %60 hp. Tires weigh #180 each and the axles are close to #700. Its just so much rotational mass that the RWHP is low. These things are built to take a crazy thrashing and in return there is a crazy HP loss through the drivetrain.

    • @rebel9838
      @rebel9838 5 років тому +10

      I too am lost. I understood that you lose power through the drivetrain but that's usually around 15-20% for 2wd or 30-36% for AWD and they were dynoing it in 2wd setup and it made roughly 650hp at the wheel. So your getting a loss of 1,000hp through drivetrain, which is more than 60% hp loss. So around 63% loss on 1,600hp motor, so when he runs it in 4wd is it going to be 300hp to the wheels?

    Cool build. With all the attention paid to design, and the high quality parts used, I expected a higher quality appearance for the welds.

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo
      @BustedKnuckleVideo  4 роки тому +1

      The welds are about as good as a mig weld can be, The time it would take to tig these chassis just is not worth it.

    • @missmymountain
      @missmymountain 4 роки тому

      @@BustedKnuckleVideo I'm confident all will work great. I don't question the strength at all. And I'm with you; tig just isn't necessary for the whole chassis but the build could benefit from it in more areas. Getting comfortable with pulsed mig will elevate your welds to an appearance level that competes with the other areas of the build as well as better justifying the price point for a build like this one. Never settle for "just about as good".

    its amazing the amount of keyboard tuners knowledge when it comes to this video.. anyone with real knowledge of engines, pro charged engines at that would know that a 565ci Pro Charged engine on alcohol would make 1600 hp easily on a very detuned setup. In the drag racing world a 565 with a blow through makes an easy 2600hp. The 60%+ drive train lose is easy to figure with the weight of the parts it take to stand up to the abuse these cars are subject to.. so if your tuning knowledge is limited to changing your honda civics air filter, you may want to keep it to yourself...

    This was one of the best videos yet! Definitely want to see more bouncer builds! I saw the comment about adding more footage of the fab work and that would be a big plus. And maybe break up the footage to where we see the build progress instead of just showing it from start to finish at one time. Just ideas, but anyway like I said awesome video and build, keep up the good work👍🏻

    Big fan of BK vids. You guys got me into bouncers and now I am hooked! :) As far as this buggy I am a drag racing guy and I love this thing! The attn to detail and passion in the build...NICE JOB! Also when I saw the dyno #'s I was a bit confused, but I also thought since only the rear tires were on the dyno drum and they "appear" to be full lockers on these buggies you were only seeing 1/2 the hp....the rear? So I added rear (600+) plus front (600+) and thought 12-1300hp then with drive train loss sounded about right. But that is just how I saw it as I know little about bouncers! Keep up great vids/builds!!

    • @BustedKnuckleVideo
      @BustedKnuckleVideo  5 років тому

      They are spooled front and rear, the dyno run was with the front Driveshaft out, the heavy drivetrain and only being able to use 1st gear for the speed limit on the dyno caused the numbers
