Yes, there are two horses to unlock (if I remember correctly) as well as a car that looks like the original Hornet but has completely maxed out stats, so it drives really fast but has also got great grip.
I'd also like there to be a home version of Ace Driver - Victory Lap as well (either via physical disk or "virtual/download"). I like both the music and the aesthetics of it, which help add to the feel of the game.
I remember I loved the music from this game. One of the rare time's a game maker invested in a real rock-n-roll band to do the soundtracks for a game. If I remember right, the band that made the music for this game was named "Mr. Big".
Yes. Eric Martin more specifically, was a gamer and wanted to do the project for SEGA's Daytona remix. He nailed the feel of racing with rock-n-roll background.
There's a PC port known as Daytona Usa Deluxe. Comes with an extra track, multiplayer and force feedback support. There's a D3D patch that enable bilinear texture filtering, fog, daytime change. The original Takenobu Mitsuyoshi soundtrack isn't available in the PC version, but you can use the inmm.dll patcher to customize the game's soundtrack.
Great review as usual. Gave me a buzz and I thought for a moment "do I have that game?", so I glanced over my Saturn games and surely enough both Daytona USA titles were there. Gonna hit it after work tomorrow, methinks.
Much better version indeed! I often listen the 2 replay songs of Daytona CCE in my car, especially when im driving fast!!! Sega Saturn games had awesome music Loved your review!!!
You know what I'd like? A home version of Ace Driver - Victory Lap. That was one of the most impressive arcade machines of the day, and it was a pleasure to drive, although always expensive at 4 tokens at my local arcade. It stayed expensive forever, that's how impressive it is (or was).
thanks for the heads up! that explains why i don't remember any vocal tracks from my US version of CCE. now considering hunting down the JPN version. :P
Stock cars don't have lights since the bodies are only meant to represent their real world counterparts. In a brightly lit arena style track, there's no need for lighting, so they are eliminated for weight savings. Racing like Touring Car, WRC and LeMans need lighting due to changing racing conditions.
Japan's norm is NTSC as well, that's what I'm trying to tell you. About the game content, the US equivalent of JP Daytona USA Circuit Edition is Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition (NetLink Edition). ;)
HOLY SHIT! The japanese version has remixed tracks of the arcade instead of noise?! And I didn't knew of that daytime feature! BRB, eBay! By the way, the comment at the end killed me!
I liked everything better in this game except for the steering / gameplay. I dunno, seeing that most agree on this being the better one, I kind have to revisit it again, I guess. And F*CK - I loved that music in the title/select screens! I love big beats and this was surprisingly big back then!
There is an HD version of the original Daytona USA for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC and the HD version has online play and improved graphics and improved gameplay.
Won´t you do a review of Black Hole pinball?IIRC it has a mini playfield in the middle of the table,it was weird for me,I was 5 or 6 year old when I played it
maybe because Judas Priest song "Breaking The Law"? Or just because back then on every body would just fuck everything up in rock concerts, man it was awesome.
Mark, I recently bought a Neo Geo Pocket Color along with Gal's Fighter, SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium and Sonic Pocket Adventure. Do you know any games besides those that you'd recommend to me?
There's a nice Easter Egg in import games. If you get a highscore, put in SEX as your initials and many games will have a goofy way of censoring it. For example some Capcom games would change it to OH!
@@officiallipsey Someone commented that the Netlink one packs in Japan's CE non-CCE exclusive improvements+additions..? Segaretro Wiki no one else says this is so..
You´re not wrong with the Dreamcast collection for 360,did you ever try to play those games on a HDTV?They look blurry and dark,I´d rather play in my 14´´ CRT TV from 1991
What happens if your name is Alexander Samuel Sandowsky or Fred Ungard Xavier? Love the music on this game. Males me wonder if Playstation didn't steal this concept for Gran Turismo.
YES, the music is the best part of this version. Jun Senoue was responsible for a lot of the music in this game, who is also the guy behind the rockin' music in modern Sonic games. The singer, Eric Martin, you might know if you've ever heard of a little band called Mr. Big... There's remastered versions of the replay music on Senoue's "The Works" album. Check out 'Sons of Angels': /watch?v=d2SkHk1C1Lw
Eric Martin did a great job with the soundtrack in this game. he's probably the most underrated artist in the hard rock/metal genre.
+TheArcadeProductions He's extremely poplar in Japan which is way he might of been asked to do this
JayDee284 That makes sense. XD
TheArcadeProductions
Mr Big is Big in Japan
@@JayDee284 Mr Big is Big everywhere
The Sega Saturn: It's better than real life!
Shoulda used *that* tagline in the Nineties.
This is a great upload, it really is! Lots of good commentary with bits of excellent humor. Thanks once again CGR!
3:53 It's not Poison, It's Mr Big!!!
Eric Martin to be precise but he is the lead singer
Eric Martin and mr. Big are freaking idolized over in Japan
def gonna buy this game now. thanks lord karnage.

'Hairband style, energy' - Gold
The soundtrack alone elevates the 32 bits of the saturn console to 684684864684684 bits of amazing gaming experience
Miss these uploads

The same Mr. Big that brought us To Be With You and Shine?
Yes. Eric Martin more specifically, was a gamer and wanted to do the project for SEGA's Daytona remix. He nailed the feel of racing with rock-n-roll background.
The music is performed by Richard Jacques and Jun Senoue. Some of the songs are remixes by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi's original Daytona USA songs
When the levee breaks, Daytona i'm going to play ;)

Mark sir, your review voice it so dam awesome! You make any game sound great!
Love your show, we all do back in the UK.
This channel will be the reason I eventually get a Sega Saturn!
Great review as usual. Gave me a buzz and I thought for a moment "do I have that game?", so I glanced over my Saturn games and surely enough both Daytona USA titles were there.
Gonna hit it after work tomorrow, methinks.
they should have made an upgraded version of sega rally for the saturn
"Because true love breeds Vectrex fans!"
On a video for a Sega Saturn game recorded in 2012.
Mark, you are my favorite reviewer ever.
I love my Playstation back then but I was also into arcades so when I found out that Sega released this game in the Saturn I was so jealous as fuck.
+JohnIbizu palystation has ridge racer series.
Much better version indeed!

I got this game for my 14th birthday because of this review. Thanks Mark!
The Saturn must have some of the most epic drums on any system ever created.
0:44 That double-bass is killer!
Simon epsilon Xavier 😂😂😂😂
I bought a Sega Saturn earlier this week. It came with the Action Replay, so I might just have to check this one out.

I'm not even a fan of car racing games but I'm definitely going to pick this game up some time down the road.
Japan's norm is NTSC as well, that's what I'm trying to tell you.
About the game content, the US equivalent of JP Daytona USA Circuit Edition is Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition (NetLink Edition). ;)
I knew someone would say that. It's the default comment for every Daytona video out there :)
it's about time I see your sub count actually increase gradually :P it's well deserved
SPREEEAADD YOOOUURRR WIIIIINGS!
FLY LIKE THE SONS OF ANGELS!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Wow. Even today, D-USA-CE looks pretty good. I think it's the frame rate.
what's with the dark blue video at 1:20 ???
surprised on how good the graphics look for Saturn
What a kick ass game. We've come a long way since Outrun. Think I might go out and buy another Need For Speed game.
I totally need to download the audio from this game then play it on my 360 while playing the new Daytona game.
HOLY SHIT! The japanese version has remixed tracks of the arcade instead of noise?!
And I didn't knew of that daytime feature! BRB, eBay!
By the way, the comment at the end killed me!
Surely this game should be called DAY&NIGHTONA USA CIRCUIT EDITION because you can race during the night as well as the day :D
I never knew the DIS had a roller coaster or mountains!
I spent so many quarters on this in the arcade. I need to find a new version to play.
Esta bonito el JOGO parece TOP GEAR. tambien hay en Play Station?
This game was excellent

I need the Daytona USA soundtrack in my car... blasting by traffic, 'ROLLLINNGGG STAARRRTTT'
I own the NTSC version since 2009 and he shows and acknowledges that this game cd is taken from the Japanese version.
Won´t you do a review of Black Hole pinball?IIRC it has a mini playfield in the middle of the table,it was weird for me,I was 5 or 6 year old when I played it
Oh,can you imagine that?My friends and I wasted a LOT of money on that game,it would be awesome!
I was trying to get the daytime mode to change, but it doesn't work for the pal version.
Does the circuit edition have the unlockable cheat code horse?
Hair band music makes any game more enjoyable.
maybe because Judas Priest song "Breaking The Law"? Or just because back then on every body would just fuck everything up in rock concerts, man it was awesome.
The singer is Eric Martin from Mr. Big, as soon as he started singing at 3:53 I knew :P
Opening music sounds more like Beck than anything else I can think of. Led Zeppelin was a pretty good call too.
was that a cover of When The Levee Breaks at 0:20
Mark, I recently bought a Neo Geo Pocket Color along with Gal's Fighter, SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millenium and Sonic Pocket Adventure. Do you know any games besides those that you'd recommend to me?
Simon Epsilon Xavier. LMAO!
You can't do it on Daytona USA 2001 on the Dreamcast either, You get changed to MIT.
memories... I almost mastered this game, is really hard to get first positions
yes, it is Eric Martin from Mr. Big!
How do tou change the time of the day for each racing track?
What's the name of the last song? or what band is playing? sounds pretty awesome
That was Eric Martin of Mr. Big singing at 4:00.
I remember paying something like £50 for this back in '96, ridiculous sum for a game but I had to have it.
There's a nice Easter Egg in import games. If you get a highscore, put in SEX as your initials and many games will have a goofy way of censoring it. For example some Capcom games would change it to OH!
where the hell is that train going 4:53?? most random tunnel design ever ;) DAYTONA!!
Thanx Mark now i gotta buy this game 2.......again #SATURNFORLIFE !
A classic of classics
Holy fuck, that menu song DOES sounds just like "When the Levee Breaks"!
It's um...When The Levee Breaks LOL!!! You a Zeppelin fan too?
How can I choose the climate?
Daytona USA really needs a comeback,
Only thing they need to make Daytona USA the perfect game. They needed an El Camino.
Do you need the cartridge expansion to play this Japanese version?
Chris P. Bacon - you need an action replay cartridge to play any imports on the Saturn.
Even with an optical drive emulator?
Wait... isn't that the NETLINK JAPANESE version? The rare one? Or was it the USA NETLINK version the rare one? It has the link battle option...
There's 2 versions, the original offline, and netlink. He has the Japanese offline version.
Noah Lipsey
Yeah, but the box has the Netlink logo, as well as the disc. It also has a "Link Battle" mode on the title screen...
Than it might be XD. It's cheaper in Japan anyway.
@@officiallipsey Someone commented that the Netlink one packs in Japan's CE non-CCE exclusive improvements+additions..?
Segaretro Wiki no one else says this is so..
To this day when ever I say a Daytona Arcade machine ill throw in a couple dollars and jump into the advanced track for 10 sweet laps
YES SIR!! great review hahah
Wow, saw this at the swapmeet..shoulda picked it up :(
Well it's actually more like having Mr. Big in your front room...
Ditto! Such a shame it didn't hit the Dreamcast...
whats the beginning song ??
It is NTSC, pal.
1:03
Sonic the hedgehog in the mountain

Well... I'm not very sensitive online. Plus, I dont really post youtube videos, I switched to Ustream. Mostly because I can go live.
All hail Lord Karnage!!
Good one or not?

After seeing this video I went straight to ebay and got myself one!
