      I want to bring in some hope, I just got a mention and a link in an article (although a nofollow link, so not very useful). And I guess I was lucky, out of 4 pitches I got 1 link. I'm sure the success rate will go down significantly if I keep trying :)

    stopped using HARO after a couple bad experiences This happened twice with high DA sites. :
    1) Spent an hour on the phone with a reporter, 30 minutes the first time, + two 15 minute follow-up calls later that week -her taking notes the whole time. 3 weeks later she forwards a link to the article 👏 …all the info we spoke about, no mention of me much less a backlink.
    “My editor decided not to include any links in this article but please enjoy the article & share on your social media.”
    🖕
    2) The second time was almost worse - reporter used all my information but only cited higher profile industry sources.
    Her: We can’t quote to everybody” 🤷🏻‍♀️
    Me: “ totally understand the insane logistics, cost & energy required of a digital acknowledgment.”
    🖕
    * however, I love the idea of flipping the script. I’ll give that idea a go! Thanks

    • @benj3911
      @benj3911 2 роки тому +3

      You should tell them it's unethical to not cite the source. How can they interview and then not cite the source?

    • @CommercialForest

      @@benj3911 I didn’t realize it at the time but it’s actually a violation of Quora terms to accept a pitch & not acknowledge in the article.

      @@CommercialForest Yes, it's a violation of HARO policy to not provide a link to the source and not credit/mention them. If you report them, they will probably get banned from HARO and won't be able to do this to someone else.

    I feel like the first technique covered comes with to big of a risk of not actually resulting in a link. You are not phrasing propasal as an exchange but rather as a freebie. What's your thoughts about being more clear about the fact that you're doing it to get a link to your website?

    09:13 actually, I have to disaggree here... When I search for unlinked brand mentions myself, I find that the copywriters who wrote the article that mentions us just don't care about link insertions - so the fact that they didn't link to you in the first place wasn't because the didn't want to, they just didn't care (or didn't know it could help you SEO-wise..). I have actually been quite successful asking for links this way...

    Your take on link insertion IMO is wrong, a link insertion goes into a page with authority already, so you should charge more not less. I can never figure out why people charge less. It comes with built in links and authority 😕 If the content sucks I send it back. Love your content.

    Oh noo .. It is not the right way to use haro. I get 3 to 7 percent conversation rate depending on the niche. You can leverage the true power of haro if you use it right way.
    I have been using haro for link building for over 2 years. I really like the platform. I met lots of journalists who now send me questions directly.
    The number of quality questions reduced over years… but it was pretty enough for me and my clients. Now I think I’ll see only link swap requests :( People are going to spam it like crazy :( :( :(

      man I've found it to be a terrible waste of time for me. i went so hard in the first week, got WSJ to return an email, but then I went to bed and missed the call ha.
      any tips?

    • @paulraphaelgomes4908
      @paulraphaelgomes4908 2 роки тому +1

      @@BrandonGreenShow It takes time to see the result - 4 weeks on average.
      I have submitted around 15 queries for one of automotive sites. As I dont get enough queries, I didn’t continue. But I kept getting links randomly even after 3 rd month. So far I got 4 links and brand mention.
      Just stick with the process, you’ll see results.
      First check if haro has qs relating to your niche and how many qs drop per day/week. And also check who are asking these questions. If you find less than 3 qs/week or fake journalists, dont waste your time on haro.
      If you move forward - Do check haro queries in morning (EST). You’ll get maximum qs with proper deadline within this period.
      Add credentials with your answer. This is very important. Present yourself as an expert. The better you present yourself the higher will be the conversation rate.
      Spend at least one hour every day for one month. Target submitting 30 answers. Im sure you’ll get at least 3 links or brand mention within 10 weeks.

      Haro = Trade time for free links. Which is more valuable for you at your point in your career? Time savings or money savings?

    • @paulraphaelgomes4908
      @paulraphaelgomes4908 2 роки тому

      @@MattDiggity You can outsource the task once the process is developed.
      However, that wasn't my point, Matt. Your strategy is unique and might work well for link builders.
      My concern is - even if 100 people among the 4000+ views, apply this strategy on the same day, imagine what haro's gonna look like!
      It will turn into a link trading platform like facebook link exchange groups :(

    Hot Diggiy Dogs. I tried that reverse HARO thing a few months ago. I thought of it from my own genius... the only thing was they wanted a top 50 million ALEXA ranking site or something.. Is there a way around this? surely there must be, as I am just supplying content and a info for a 0.6DR NEW site... however they got past the gate keeper...

    • @dosdaysareover7781
      @dosdaysareover7781 2 роки тому +1

      Get some traffic, I guess… 50 million Alexa rank isn’t exactly a good score.
      Even an Alexa score below 150.000 is doable for a blog.
      But I believe Alexa already retired their own ranking system or they are about to, so the numbers don’t mean much anyway.

    • @BrandonGreenShow
      @BrandonGreenShow 2 роки тому +1

      @@dosdaysareover7781 yeah I found that outbthe other day when I went to recheck. I've never been able to score that high because I've only ever built local service sites..
      I wonder how they vet the sites now
