  • Krissy found almost 1.5 ounces of gold nuggets prospecting in that area the previous day. Mark also found some nice gold nuggets with his metal detector over the hill.

    • Gold Nuggets everywher...
Now we return to clear a bit of spinifex out of the gully that hasn’t been detected before to help find out where the gold is coming from.
We try to detect likely gold spots that have been covered up with spinifex. This undertaking is hard and tedious but luckily we didn't have to move much to make it worth our while.
We weren’t able to get the metal detectors onto every spot but since the gold nuggets have been there for millions of years, we are patient enough to return to this productive spot next season and spend some more time in the Pilbara area in Western Australia.

A weed whacker / whipper snippet might move the spinifex bushes easier but noisy and heavy and hard to carry both detector and weed whacker at the same time.
After fire goes through would be the optimal time.
That gold is all likely shedding from the one source, if your getting it both sides of the ridge in the gullies then it’s pretty obvious it’s on the ridge itself to be able to shed in both directions at the same time.
Gold tends not to occur so much in iron ore as it does in the quartz veins between iron ore deposits.
When lava flows bring greenstone granit iron ore to the surface in liquid form - it also brings gold and sulphides with it as well as the quartz.
The quartz & sulphides is the last to cool and solidify, the gold quartz and sulphides get squeezed out of the granit greenstone iron ore and remain liquid as the other 3 solidify first, THEN the lass as t 3 solidify with the gold in the quartz last.
So your looking for the odd quartz vein between the masses of iron ore because that’s where the source of the gold is originating.
It appears that while your happy finding nuggets and who wouldn’t be, perhaps your not reading the geology to interpret where the source / mother load is shedding from.
The idea of course is to use tools like detectors and pans and sluices etc even dry blowers to find that source - then peg your lease and start a hard rock mine & retire like Gina & Twiggy.
Ohh I should have probably mentioned, all native flora on crown land is native flora and protected under the Wildlife & Forests acts.
Your prospectors license entitled you to take up to 20 kilos a day of samples using hand tools, but it doesn’t cover you “clearing protected native flora” to get at your samples.
It’s not like anyone really cares with a bit of spinifex because it’s not threatened or endangered and it gets grazed by cattle and gets burnt when lightening strikes & its seeds germinate and it grows again, once it rains (eventually).
It’s not like any wildlife officers are going to waste their time trying to bust you for clearing spinifex, because the time & effort wouldn’t be justified, however where you gather the evidence for them to convict you and publish it for them to download and present in court, a prosecution might be slightly more attractive to them if they think it might set an example to prevent others doing likewise, with the media generated “sending a message” to other prospectors, not to “take protected native flora.
So am I saying don’t clear spinifex?
    Nope.
    So what am I saying?
Clear it, but don’t film that part, clear the spinifex off camera - then film detecting the cleared area, that way your not providing the evidence to convict yourself. 😉😂😂👍

@@OutbackGoldFever I am basing that advice on being a former CALM Forester & Wildlife Officer. Feel free to ask DPAW Compliance Officer for more “up to date” advice, it’s possible that legislation has been updated since my tenure or indeed that some obscure part of the mines act allowing clearing vegetation on a pegged lease takes precedence, but I doubt it for just prospecting and collecting samples under a miners right.
Really all I am saying is don’t publish that aspect of your videos. 😉

@@OutbackGoldFever Your very welcome. It’s the same advice I’ve given to other prospecting video channels who find lizards (skinks) and snakes & thorny devils etc.
It’s fine to film them because overseas viewers are totally fascinated by our native flora & fauna, & I heartily encourage you to do so.
The “line in the sand” not to cross, is “handling” protected wildlife.
Under the law handling any protected species is defined as “to take, / have in ones possession” and that’s what the wildlife act defines as an offence.
Removing vegetation exactly the same if it’s native and thus protected.
So it’s all really about just being “clever” in what you publish.
There are unfortunately a few new chum wildlife officers looking to make their first successful prosecutions, and if they can do it by downloading your videos as evidence to use in court against you, without leaving the comfort of their air conditioned office they will.
It “justifies” their job / salary to their superiors basically.
They also use the publicity as a way to “send a message” to the rest of the detecting community” for free, so sometimes they actually look for cases where the perpetrator kicks a home goal like this.
Only within the Last 12 months Fisheries Department now made it a $10k offence to sell recreationally collected sea shells off the beach (per shell), because licensed shell collectors complained to the Fisheries Minister about having to pay hefty Fisheries Dept License fees and not being able to compete against recreational collectors who pick the shells for free and sell them online at Gumtree & Facebook Market Place.
The darn goal posts are always shifting.
With DPAW for eg, If you have a monetised channel, and you film any scenery on land they control, Nat Parks, Flora & Fauna Reserves, State Forest & Vacant Crown Land, you have to apply ahead of time to film & pay a fee!
      (I kid you not).
It was put in place for film makers & TV Advertisers wanting to film movies and shoot TV Adverts in iconic scenic lands managed by DPAW, BUT now with the advent of “UA-cam” with monetised channels that sell advertising and pay their content providers, they fall under the same regulations, even tho that was never the intention when the legislation was enacted with those regulations, technically - it still applies to content providers like yourselves and others with similar channels!
DPAW own the scenic values and you can’t film it commercially without a permit & paying the fee.
Just shows how far our world has progressed towards “big brother” of Orwell’s 1984. 🙄
