Kenny Smith said it best. It’s none of that without Dr. J. 👑Dr. J is the heart of dunks and the true GOAT. The others just add it on
Big facts
DARRYL DAWKINS IS FREAKING HILARIOUS. "YEAH I DUNKED ON HIM I DUNK ON HIS MAMA NEXT WEEK TOO"
yeah darryl was alwaze funny den a muhfucka lol 😆
If Kobe was still alive he'd be watching this, RIP Kobe, and RIP to Mr. Craig Sager!
Kobe prolly already watched this it’s old
Saw the Dr. J dunk and the Starks dunk on TV live and the other two later. At the time...that Starks dunk floored me because it was so unexpected. He got to the rim using his left hand just a split second before he would have gotten destroyed in the air. Fair to say it was one of the most ballsy and athletic plays I've ever seen from a smaller guy on the basketball court.
I think Kevin johnson dunk was more impressive.
R.I.P Darryl Dawkins! You were really somethin'!
Dr. J's dunk was "poetry in motion"....and i'm a die-hard Laker fan! #Respect
I saw the game when it happened in my youth
I love the fact that each dunk has its own soundtrack. 70's era dunks have the Shaft soundtrack, Shaq era dunks have the hip hop... great stuff
44 minutes of greatness right here. Favorite video on UA-cam right now.
VC in 2000 olympics. Greatest of all time!
Lloyd Pagalan Olympics is NOT NBA
R.I.P. Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins!!!!!! The Godfather of breakin glass.
It's really Gus Johnson.
One dunk nobody seems to bring up. Dr J was in a playoff game against the kentucky colonels of the old ABA. Dr J was playing for the virginia squires. With seconds left in the game, ball was inbounded to Dr J who drove to the basket and did a windmill dunk over 7ft 2inch Artis Gilmore
kenny smith is right on the daryl dawkins dunk! the bench player got up and moved away when dawkins started to head towards the bench as if he thought dawkins was going to shatter him like the back board!
Magic said it in a nutshell! Instincts take over.......you gotsta have it in your DNA. Just watching certain players move and execute (whether or not they planned a specific execution) is amazing!
When I was a kid, I used to go see Dr. J play for the Virginia Squires in Norfolk, Virginia. There will never be another one of that man and talk about inspiring a kid...WOW! He was awesome!
I agree. Dr J is the reason I still play basketball at 63. I saw his videos of reverse windmill dunks when I was in eighth grade
I still say the best in game dunk was Vince Carter throwing it down on Alonzo Mourning. Loved the Doc posterizing Walton in the 77 finals!Every perimeter shooter since the "Collapsible rim" should send a few bucks to Dawkins' family! New rims easily 20 % softer.
If am gonna go with Vince I'll take the Dunk where he jumped over the 7ftr in the Olympics but hey for me it's the MJ on the base line over Ewing.
When Scottie Pippen dunked on Patrick Ewing..That's my #1 pick..
You guys forgot a bunch of Clyde the Glide Drexler dunks . Like the ones he had on Ewing , Manute Bol , and the trade mark "The Glide" Dunk he had against the Lakers , the dunk he had on Isaiah Zeek Thomas in the championship series against the Pistons etc .
All those you said, indeed. And the one on David Robinson, too... "In your face David Robinson!" LOL And the one on Sean Elliot, the one against the Jazz, and the one against Orlando when he won his championship with the Rockets. Yeah, ridiculous that Clyde "the Glide" isn't on here at all. Takes away some of the legitimacy of this list, to me.
Dr J rocking the baby against the Lakers was the most beautiful dunk ever. Period
I agree with Dawkins, the NBA today is all buddy buddy with one another. It has killed all the great rivalries that the 80's and 90's had. Watch some of the Larry Bird and Magic interviews. They would work together a bit during the off seasons, but especially during the seasons, it was flat out war and the other was the enemy. There was no all the superstars being friends on and off the court and definitely during the season. They were passionately competitive with the other teams and players. Todays players simply play the game like a job. I miss the 90's NBA I am just glad I got to at least grow up and see one of the best eras in the NBA. Until the players bring back that competitive hatred (not a disrespectful hate, but a hate from a competitive standpoint the players on the other teams were the enemy and the game was the war), we will never see those truly great rivalries again. Bird and Magic even said it.
The old heads contradict themselves. They also was cool with one another off the court but on the court it was straight business. I admit today my be a little more friendlier but the old head are exaggerating because they also was cool with each other off the court!
I'm with Carl Fernandes on this one. Vince's dunk in the Olympics was probably the best I've ever seen.
That and many of his others
Vince is the greatest dunker of all time , he has so many unique dunks.
How could they leave off Vince Carter going *completely* over Frédéric Weis? I guess this is only dunks in NBA games, but that has to be one of the greatest dunks ever!
hipmicro you answered your own question.
Agree!
This was made before that happened.
@@tduniven77 lol what? This was made 8 years after the 2000 Olympics when Vince did that
*It literally is titled “NBA Posterized.”*
That Pippen dunk over Ewing was nasty.
I love hearing Magic talk, he's so enthusiastic. He makes me feel good, almost like I know him...I feel like I'm talking to one of my uncles.
Overall, I think the list is accurate.
@MAN UTD cap
@M and that means what? 🤔
MJ'S dunk makes me realize how much I miss watching him play!!!
Vince Carter's dunk on the 7 footer was like the greatest dunk we have ever seen. It's like he used him as a step ladder or a prop looking like he was on a slam dunk contest though XD
I think that was against France so it doesn't count but you're right! That was probably the best dunk ever.
XD
Yes that was an Olympic game when he jump over the 7 footer head
Vince to me was the scariest dunker. There was just a little something extra bad-assed about his dunks.
@@aaronTNGDS9 that's the swag but yeah. There's something unexplainable when he's dunking like way too easy for him to do
Scottie on Ewing was the baddest .. and Carter on Mourning was just disrespectful , he gave him something to mourn about .. LOL
Kruger Ace something to mourn about...heheheeeee
Kruger Ace - That Starks dunk was a better one imo.
Like they said, it woke up Jordan.
"if a guy... took a charge on me, i would try to kill him."
LMFAOO
@MAN UTD cap
@@123mosdefandtalibkweli big cap lol
@M true but what exactly is the fucking point of bringing that up, no one forced you to watch this show dickhead
Shawn Kemp best dunkman ever to live. I watched a game once where Barkley grabbed like 40 rebounds and had almost 40 points. I think it was a triple double, but 40 rebounds?? He owned that game.
+Moe “Rugged” Truth its Vince Carter
Moe Truth thats why barkley was called the round mound of rebound
I’ve always been partial to AI’s dunk in a sea of big men on the rebound put back. Amazing vertical, fearlessness and perfect timing.
Kenny be always hating on A.I on God!!!
I was wishing that dunk was in this clip before I watched it
I'm Over Here Literally Cracking Up At Everyone's Story About The Different Dunks 😂😂 This Is PURE GOLD!
Bigmac, you sir have uploaded the best video ever. Watched it straight through and enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks!
Dr. J’s dunk on Michael Cooper is pretty special knowing what a committed defender Cooper was - he prided himself on the chase down blocks.
Was also hoping to see Kobe’s baseline jam on the T Wolves. That was one of the great game dunks in traffic.
I remember that jam, and it was in Kevin Garnet's face. A vicious reverse tomahawk dunk. The ground is still shaking.
For everyone complaining about the video quality at 360p, please remember it's still better than 240p/144p. 360 was the quality this video was in when I found it, so it would be pointless to try and render it at any higher of a quality.
No need to apologize to the techy dorks. I appreciate the upload boss.
Agreed... The upload is very much appreciated
Qll
TheBigmac700 It's great and made my day buddy
And let's not forget this video came out in 07...
R.I.P. Daryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins!
+Bruce Leeroy ''yeah i dunk on him,and i will dunk on his momma next week'' :D
+Safalada 😂😂
um he did not die
Bruce Leeroy then why was he with me for thanksgiving and Christmas?
+Sea Level Cain He's haunting you.
I remember watching live on my grandfathers console floor model tv when John Starks made that jam. I jumped off the couch and my jaw dropped to the floor. I was pulling for the Bulls but I still had to give props to Starks on that one.
Vince "Slaughter" Carter the best, the very best dunker of all time. Hands down, second to none...
I don't know man. T-Mac my guy IJS
@@wikkiedjones2466 🤔🤦🏾♂️🤣
Dominick Wilkins
Slaughter. LMFAO. How dumb
Agreed.
Vince Carter in the Olympics jumps over a 7 footer, nastiest most disrespectful dunk I've ever seen
one Jordan dunk on the entire list???? ONE??? unforgivable. inexcusable. inexplicable. i can think of at least 10 MJ dunks that deserved to be on this show. don't get me wrong, it was a great special and i definitely enjoyed watching it, but as Chris Carter would say... "com' on, man!"
You're right, I've seen a lot of facials that MJ did on fools. I think Jordan had the most posters than anybody else ever, 50 or more.
Mykoveli wrong. Shawn kemp, Vince, Dominique, all have more notable ones. Michael just gets more publicity on them
Mykoveli I agree. Related topic, you'd be suprized at how many posters Pippen put fools on. I realised this playing NBA 2K. IN the later bulls teams 95-98, Pippen has a higher dunk rating than Jordan. Look for a youtube vid called "Scottie Pippen, Power and Grace"
I thought I saw two Jordan dunks.
What breed of salamander was used to film this video?
They should've had a couple more kobe dunks. The dunk over Ben Wallace during preseason his 2nd year in the league would've been nice to have. The 360 alley oop over mutombo too. They didn't have the Shawn Kemp dunk where he dunks on a dude then the dude gave him dap.
Not big on preseason dunks but I agree, thats always been my fav Kemp dunk, it was on Alton Lister.
@@miguelchavez1598 no, the Kemp dunk he's talking about was on Chris Gatling
T-mac on Bradley was good buuuuttttt eddie Jones on Bradley was better!
Don’t forget about the one he almost ended Steve Nash’s life.
My favourite all time power dunker is D ROSE!!!! Those Tomahawk dunks he did were off the HOOK!!!
The "Final Four" dunks were most appropriate in that two of the four were Bulls versus Knicks in playoff critical games. But the John Starks slam down over three defenders, one of which was the great Michael Jordan himself has got to be number one. Starks and his Knicks were always the best man and never the groom during the 1990s playoffs, and Chicago ruled the roost. But for one rim rattling, crowd shocking, eye popping play, Starks gave as good as he got. NYC may have lost the playoff war, but for one spectacular moment of athletic brilliance, they won a memorable battle as epitomized by that slam.
I may be a bit bias, but being from NYC and watching that game live, it was all that people talked about for days!!! I dont know how they did it, but that poster was everywhere the NEXT DAY!!!
I was in HS and I went crazy when Starks dunked out of nowhere. I can't remember him dunking prior to that. What makes that dunk the best is the moment. The Playoffs, Jordan and the Bulls, under a minute left in 4th Quarter, Knicks up by 3. Bulls vs Knicks was always the highlight of playoffs. The NBA Championship games were anticlimactic after that.
Jordan was so good he got posterized and then came back and posterized his posterizer + team,BOTH TOP 5-10 dunks ALLTIME!!!!!
One of the best posterizing dunks Julius ever had was the one against Cedric Maxwell. I remember Max telling me he knew Doc was going to do something and it wasn't going to be good. Julius also had several against Walton and Bobby Gross that had the fans screaming
You never saw the best posterizing dunks Julius ever had because you ddin't see the ABA.
Another one of the greatest dunks ever was Bobby Jones dunk over Larry Bird
They forgot the Julius Erving baseline dunk over 7'4" Mark Eaton of the New Orleans (now Utah) Jazz in 1986. Yes, that's right!!! DR. J was thirty-six years old at the time!!!
The best combinations of power, creativity, and leaping ability were Carter & Wilkins - hands down.
The most impressive dunk I have seen is Dr. J slamming during a championship game against the Lakers Michael Cooper.
I'm sorry, but best NBA poster of all time is Pippen over Ewing, plus walking over him and getting in Spike's face, c'mon...
It sure is up there.... Best thing about it is him talking smack to spike lee :)
If it's not the best, it's without doubt the most disrespectful lol
i just feel sorry for Ewing he has been posterized way to many times
Ewing got it plenty...that said, poor Shawn Bradley got mashed on even more lol.
No doubt that was the rudest dunk, but you have to admit that Dr.J's dunk over M. Cooper was mean and freakish. Afterward, Cooper was never the same player again!:-)
My favorites: Erving walk-off, single-handed dunk moving perpendicular to the basket (game unknown); Drexler vs Louisville in 1983 NCAA semifinal game; Carter on alley oop vs Clippers in 2000 (I think); and DeAndre Jordan a couple of years back (game unknown). These were more or less all open-court, uncontested dunks, but for sheer elevation, power and grace, they are my favorites...
Drexler over Andre Turner Houston vs Kentucky in the semis. Rex Chapman dunked on Kenny Payne Kentucky vs Louisville.
de Andre vs a little guard from Detroit....uh...Brandon Jennings!!!!!!!! UGH
Dr J was the most overall entertaining and Jordan is the GOAT, but Dominique Wilkins was the greatest pure slam dunker of all time IMO. Anyone who watched the 1988 contest knows he won and they gave Jordan the win cause it was in Chicago. Go watch it for yourself.
I agree.
Turdman12 I agree. The Freakazoid should have three trophies. Home court helps regarding fans cheering for their star player.
+Turdman12 I Think Carter was a better dunker
All this shattered backboard reminds me of nba jam extreme super nintendo back in the day
Reggie talking about Pippen's dunk was too funny.
That's not nice Scottie
Reggie enjoyed Patrick getting dunked on almost as much as Scottie enjoyed doing it.
Air Canada Carter in the Olympics by far, the most nasty, rude, talented, dunk in my book....toronto still love you vince, thanks for the memories
Vince Carter's Olympic dunk is the greatest of all time and Blake Griffin isn't even on here..
this was like 2007 i think
Oh. Well that's acceptable
That what I said until I saw kobe had hair I was like this must be old lol
or my personal favorite in game dunk d.wade on varejo. this special is older.
Could Blake jump over a 7 footer? No, I don't think so.
Vince Carter is the best inGame dunker of NBA , no doubt about it together with TMAC cousin like cousin
the best ever was when vince carter jumped over the guy in the olympics
agreed!!
Facts
These are facts
I 100% agree with you PharisSports101. That's the 1 dunk in the history of dunks that could land Vince Carter in trouble with the law. That's the 1 incident that could cause the 7 foot olympic guy to commit suicide.
Nah Dr j rock the baby was better
What a way to end! I was waiting for that dunk by Doc on Coop the whole video 😂
Rest in style......craig sager
Although I hated seeing The Doc dunk on my boy Coop....I even said, Ddddaaaaaaammmn....!!! This was the greatest dunk.
VINCE CARTER IN THE OLYMICS.. BEST DUNK EVER!!
Agree
Agreed
Totally agree
Vince against morning I think was the best cause he got up, moved him over then left it up there. The first time I saw that, I couldn't wait for ESPN, who did what they should have and played it for the entire "morning"
TMAC is one of the greatest posterizers of all time
Hell yeah
I see why Ewing was so upset at Scottie after getting dunked on. Scottie took a swing or gave a Ewing a hard push with his hand as he was going down. One thing to get dunked on then dude walks all over you, another thing if you get pushed IN ADDITION to those.
If you look at Scottie's face at that moment, I believe he had malicious intent. But that's just me.
dikembe mutombo is the cookie monster
You can just tell how much Reggie "loves" the Knicks when he was commenting on the Pippen's dunk over Ewing.
I am surprised that they did not talk about the wade over Varejao dunk
mathboy2012 Yeah that one was so raw. They definitely messed up leaving that one out....shouldve replaced Bird's stale dunk with Wades. If this video is indeed from 2007 then that may explain why it wasn't on there though.
because were talking nba not olympics
mathboy2012 had not happened yet
We need a 2nd edition in 2021
Absolutely! Tom Chambers greatest dunk. Not to say the others weren't awesome. I've always been a Lakers fan, but I loved watching the Suns in the early 90s. Thanks for the memories Tom.
Wow no Ralph Sampson
Pedro There's a dunk by Chambers that should have been added to the list for all time he dunked on THE ENTIRE FRONT COURT OF BOSTON in the Boston Garden early '90s go check it out.
@@dwightlove3704 BEAST. Loved the suns in that era.
Vince Carter was the best dunker. Michael was a more all around player, Vince was purely a dunker.
agreed. no one could do it like vince.
Phenom wouldn't simplify Vince's game as just a dunker. He can shoot too.
you are trippin if you think VC was only a dunker. hahaha
Phenom
Dude how are old are you. If you think VC was only a dunker you've got to be 9 or something.
Was more than a dunker
Vince was on a level by himself. Vince caught the most bodies
Really didn’t watch Dominique or MJ lol
Doe B Dominique is second then MJ. 👍🏼
@@deesnoots nah lol they all tied tbh
Doe B if I were to choose 1 it’d be Vince. But yeah.. Theyre all pretty close. That VC over Alonzo was just over the top. Full contact poster! And he jumped over a 7footer- IN A GAME!
By far.
i wish T-mac (tracy mcgrady) still played
You really had to clarify who T-Mac was?
I wish Pop would have put him in at the end of game 6 against Miami...nba history would be so different.
it starts and ends with Doctor..
You better believe it let them people know if it wasn't for Doc like the commentary said it would be no it start with him and it's definitely ends with him with his incredible footage forever Dr J
I think that Dr. J was the best dunker of all time but MJ was the best all around player that is known for dunks
D-Wade dunk on Varejao?
Matt1013 had not happened yet
2007
Thank you, everyone! We can all agree that this is the best dunk special ever! We've been getting a lot of Vince Carter in the Olympics.. What's your favorite?
My favorite is the recent one by Kobe in 2013 when he drove and dunked on two Brooklyn Nets players at 34 years of age.
Agree. Vince Carter's dunk in the olympics over that 7 footer was the Greatest i have EVER seen. Vince actually hurdled a 7 footer!!!
Vince Carter alley oop against the Clippers. This is the most athletic dunk I've ever seen.
Kobe on dwight
Two dunks that stick out in my mind are the Vince Carter alley oop against the Clippers and the Vince dunk in the Olympics..dunking right over that seven footer.
I'm super suprised that the Vince Carter dunk isn't on here when he jumped over the 7 foot guy in the olympics
It is, although I don't know the exact point in the video. Look again.
TheBigmac700 You're dreaming. It's not. No non-NBA dunks.
It wasnt an NBA dunk
Gandydancer Yes, it is. I have watched this three times. It's somewhere near the end if I do believe.
TheBigmac700 Either you're trolling or hallucinating
Pippen on Ewing is by far the funkiest dunk ever, just nasty asf!
Kkkkkkkkk! Shaq with the "Kenny BS defense!"
The best ever dunker goes to the Godfather of dunking Julius Erving what he did on the court back in those days was unprecedented and he could did anything these guys do today he just wasn't as flamboyant but you know he could take it to the hoop for sure!
Dr.j the greatest dunk ever 🏀🔥🔥🔥
Ricky Davis performed the NBA's only in-game between-the-legs dunk! Shaq also overpowered Robinson, knocking him down! Vince Carter's alley-oop dunks and the best alley-oop dunks of all time! I had the dunk DVD(DJ Clue Desert Storm) from like 2004--probably the best dunks movie you'll ever see...Plus, unrelated to that DVD, Baron Davis got AK-47 in the playoffs one year!
Hold up here! Where's Baron Davis dunking over AK-47?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was 07 playoff this came out during all star that year
But that was a crazy poster lol
Who is ak47?
I forgot about the Reggie Miller dunk, but the Starks dunk on H Grant and Jordan (looks like he laid off a bit because of space and he thought Grant had him) AND the Kevin Johnson dunk on the Dream (I never knew K Johnson could dunk, being only 6 foot just like me) were 2 of the most unexpected dunks I had ever seen. Nothing against any of the other dunks, which all had so many positives, but the ones where you've seen a guy do 100 layups in those exact situations, then just DUNK it, just is so awesome!
And I don't think you can call anyone a better dunker than Vince Carter. The guy was just a human trampoline. There's people that have mastered jumping on a trampoline and don't jump even half as high as Vince. The dunks he did were just unreal and defy gravity. While I do think many other dunks by other players were unreal, Vince did it time and time again. There were literally times where I thought he spends more time in the air than on the ground. Not taking anything away from his work ethic or any part of his game, but his genetics are a 1 in a million (and most of those people will never see the NBA).
pippen killing Patrick with a monster dunk absolutely loved it
Pippen over Ewing is the nastiest dunk ever to me I remember seeing Scotties face light up before the attack!
07:59 Dr. J is the greatest dunker of all time, for once in my life I agree with something Charles Barkley said lol.
I remember when Dr.J dunked over Robert Parrish...that dunk was even on that "You Are So Beautiful" NBA commercial back in the 80's. That's when NBA action was faaantastic!
I guess I'm kind of biased towards, Doc.
That dunk he had over Grossman was awesome. He was a couple of feet outside the key and he just glided like he had wings.
@28:25 I'm loving Scotties attitude towards whoever tryin to get at him on the side lines. That was total dominance and attiude!
spike Lee
My favorite all-time big man vs small man is Detroit's Pistons star 6'1" Isaiah Thomas out jumping 7'1" Chicago center Will Perdue in the early 90's to win the tap and possession as well. When you look at the replay you actually see Isaiah's head or eyes level with the rim which means the bottom of his feet are (4.5 feet or 54 inches) off of the ground, straight jumping out of the gym so to say!
My youngest son, Jereme Richmond destroyed a backboard during practice when he was a freshman in high school. I have the rim with some glass still attached, in my garage.
Ernie Johnson was a great dunker!!!!
Ah the grape smuggler
Elevator Ernie
I had completely forgotten about Darryl Dawkins. I was having the time of my life watching this video. Thanks for uploading this.
I wish I was around when he was shattering backboards, I would've loved it then too 😂
@@sdmurphy20 it was a different impact on the game back then.
Vince carter is the greatest in game dunker end of conversation
Wasn't an NBA game but a dunk heard round the world. Vince's dunk over 7footer in the Olympics. A dunk that changed Wies' life. NBA pulled his contract after that dunk. A lot of great "in game" dunkers; Nique, MJ, Kobe, Dr.J. etc.. but Vince probably has the best body of work of "in game" dunks than anybody. Quoting Kenny Smith "Half man/Half amazing".
Carter and the Rainman Shawn Kemp.
That one should've gotten an honorable mention regardless lol
Dr. J’s cuff is #1, I was watching that live! Juuuuuulius Irrrrrrrrving! Before Jordan it was THE DR!
They really need subtitles for Dikembe Mutombo cuz I didnt get a word of what he said..
Truu
Lmao!!!!
Manny Renet damage jam dikebe mootumbo
Most of it was, "No, no, no, little man. Not today little man." hahah
NO NO NO! NOT TODAY! HAHAHAHAHA!
Julius Erving tho 😳
I didnt watch yet but scottie pippen on ewing gotta be on here.
u know it bro
as soon as i read this the dunk came up
yeah Pippen over Ewing was so incredible because it was so unexpected. Not around Ewing, he went OVER him.
in my opinion, that's not even Pip's best posterization dunk. remember MJ's comeback in '95, the 55-point game at MSG? Pip had a fast break dunk over Charles Smith in the 2nd quarter that is absolutely disgusting.
ktj1212 yeah I remember that game--have it on VHS tape somewhere!
Pippen on Ewing sick dunk too
