I hear the "we just got this in 2017" argument for Yoda's starfighter so frequently but that is such an entitled, selfish statement. There was a huge influx of LEGO sw fans during lockdowns in 2020 that did not have it. So many of the long time collectors have a self centered attitude that can't be bothered to look at it from anyone else's perspective but their own.

Yeah I agree. It actually came as a bit of surprise a lot of people hate them; I remember thinking they were cool when they came out when I was still a kid. Thinking back to my kid self, I didn't care too much about "accuracy" in the figure details, and loved the ability to customize them. Given that's lego's primary audience, it only makes sense pretty much every clone has helmet holes. Still, I think things like UCS figures would benefit from not having holes since those sets are one of the few adult-oriented set categories.
Idk if we can say a set from 2016 is one we “just got” but I do agree the yoda set was overpriced, but it is a nice looking build, can’t complain too much other than price.
Unpopular but I really don’t like the x wing. The body looks fine but the engines and wings look goofy AF. They’re supposed to be mounted partially into the wings but on the Lego version they’re slapped on top so look really weird and inaccurate
My favourite set is the pirate snub fighter. It's a really neat smugglers ship and I've always wanted lego to do more alien based sets so people can get a collection of them and this is perfect. Having a set that is an alien vehicle or build and it coming with a few aliens is great and I hope they do more with say wookies, nightsisters, twi'leks, zabraks, etc
With the Yoda Jedi Starfighter, yeah it hasn't been that long but the price of the new one is $20 cheaper than the older one, so I guess if you had interest in it probably would be glad Lego has a new one on the shelf.
A diorama set of the deck of the venator would be really nice. Could be Ahsoka's Order 66 escape from the bridge or just a generic one to display with any characters.

I’ve been out of the loop on Lego Star Wars for a while, but what has happened to the community? There is almost no positivity or creativity, everyone thinks like a hive mind listening to MandR guy and repeating everything he says. Lego should be used to be creative and fun and everyone seems miserable. I think part of the reason of this negativity is the price you’re forced to pay for these. The only sets with good value I’ve seen this year is the Indiana Jones ones, and if people want the prices to go down STOP BUYING THE OVERPRICED SETS. Maybe buy some alternate bricks as well to give lego some competition.

Another great vid that I enjoyed watching, and I more or less agree with your rankings. I didn’t buy many new releases this year as I ended up concentrating on buying retired UCS sets, but I bought that Venator on day 1. It’s going to look so great with my other UCS destroyers. I have the 2012 UCS X-wing, and I really like it despite not being perfect. My display space is very limited, so I decided to skip it as I just don’t have room for duplicates. If the UCS Tie Interceptor is indeed released this spring, I’ll probably get that since it will be a definitely upgrade from the 2000 version.
Even though I know price per piece is somewhat unpopular, I still utilize it, but I also count the minifigures at about $4-5 each. I'm only guessing when it comes to how accurate this is, but many more price points (especially stuff like Yavin) are more justified (not that LEGO isn't overpriced no matter what) this way.
I still utilize price per piece as well and I’d say 10 cents is just not realistic at all anymore due to inflation. I go by about 12-15 cents per piece

Great list but imo Yavin IV is the worst set of 2023. The building is lacklusting, interior has barely any details and the scale of it is so wrong. And also, the price is just too high for it. Even minifigs don't make up for it
Did I miss the other 4+ set? That being asked, there are only two sets I don’t own. One is the other 4+ set not mentioned and the buildable Chewbacca. I’m waiting for Chewbacca to go on sale.
E Wing and Shin over Tie and Fang Fighter is crazy, also the X wing is literally just a big x wing, it’s not super accurate ( everything about the windscreen is wrong, r2, etc), the stand is kinda janky, and the s foils are too flimsy
I don’t think anyone who complains about the helmet homes truly understands how inconvenient making 2 different helmet molds (one with holes for captains and specialists etc and one without them for regs) would be for Lego. Take the gunship or the 332nd battle pack for example. Why would they have a singular machine making only helmets with holes for Vaughn and Fox but tons of machines dedicated to the regs. It’s hard to explain but it’s not that hard of a concept to understand.
That’s the same as arguing that they shouldn’t have exclusive figures, molds, or printed pieces in a set just because they’d only be producing them for one set.
@fivelonelyclones yeah no, as someone who creates custom parts tooling is really expensive, it's no wonder they use the same exact mold for B1s, a clone helmet is a clone helmet. It's no different than the 2008 and 2013 phase 1 clones.
Bro literally it all would’ve been fine if they just added the holes where they’re supposed to be, but they didn’t because they’re too cheap to make a new visor mould. Meanwhile the current visor mould gets stretched out by the phase 2 helmets since it’s not designed for it. It also would’ve made it so the range finder isn’t comically high up on the helmet

Did you notice that Lego doesn’t have the balls to give us any other lightsaber colors than the four primary colors? That sequel set was based after the sequels. Meaning Rey’s saber should be yellow. But they gave her green. They did this with Baylon and Shin as well from Ahsoka. They gave them Red Sabers instead of Orange.

You are paying for both the build and the minfigures and it is disingenuous to claim that it is only about the builds. UCS sets are meant to be the pinnacle of accuracy, yet if one of its figures that out front and center, is so inaccurate that I have to buy a 3rd party version, it failed at its job.

Helmet holes aren’t the problem. Its the execution. Nobody complained on the clone wars phase i clone troopers with their holes

@@Lukedub Thing is, due to how the ship works having the vertical wings position, the backside is going to be much more noticeable. And there were sets which had similar wing configuration that actually looked decent on the backside like Pre Vizsla's mandalorian starfighter
@@Lukedubtf you even on about it? It’s not the back its literally half of the set is just nothing. Imagine buying x wing or something where half of the ship has the right colours while the other doesn’t. And the set is overpriced anyway so they should’ve included them
@@omarbaba9892 are you stupid? Unless you're displaying the set on a table where you can see both sides you're not going to be able to see the other side. that comparison is not the same. In the slightest. You'll only ever see the colored side. There's no stand for the set to be displayed in flying mode, so it's gonna be showing only ever the colored side. This argument is so incredible brain dead its insane. Like imagine if like, people started complaining that sets like hogwarts are terrible because there's no wall on the back. Or like how the Up house has no wall on the back. Iike, YOURE NOT GONNA SEE THAT, ITS BEING DISPLAYED FRONTWARD.
Gotta admit, you have some really based takes on this years sets. You don't see a lot of UA-camrs actually forming their own opinions on Lego sets that do not just echo the community's hivemind.

You aren't in my class, so why should you care about what I'm doing a presentation on?
