So, for everyone new who is coming to this video, I am glad you've arrived - this single video is what appears to bring people to the channel. FAQ: Q1 - What program is this? A - This program is Audacity, a free audio-recorder/editing software. It's fairly powerful on its own, but remember, audio is only ever as good as the input. Q2 - Can I use this on Discord to change my voice? A - No. For that, you'll need a program like VoiceMod, though generally speaking, voice-changers are against a lot of rules that many Discord servers have up - always check with the server rules first. Q3 - Apples? A - Always. Q4 - Can you do ___ as a tutorial? A - Unfortunately, it takes a lot of experimentation to figure out something, though there are a few ways to do it. Even though it's been almost a decade since I made this video, I should probably do the couple of requests people have put in, just so I can have those done (Chaos Marine, Daemonhost) and also one to get a Protoss Templar-esque or Terran Marine voice. Audacity has changed in some ways since I did this tutorial, so an update would be needed in some aspects, as well as showing people how to get it done. Anyways, thanks for watching, thanks for reading, and as always, remember to have fun and leave your sadness behind.
I only recently got into Warhammer 40k and want to make my own voice lines so THANK YOU SO MUCH! BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD, SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE, MILK FOR THE KHORNE FLAKES!
Yeah. Surprisingly enough. I still can't believe this video still gets views. I still remember I made it out of a want to do varied content, but people at the time wanted more of this, and I think they still want more of this, it seems.
Depending on the voice you go for, it can change quite a lot. If I were to redo this tutorial now, my voice is a lot different than it used to be, and the voice in the end would be a lot different.
Thanks for the timestamps! As the video was made years ago, it was done before 'chaptering' was a thing on UA-cam (Actually made this video before the huge fustercluck that was Google+ - I survived that mess too)
@@admiralsand Unfortunately, no, I don't know how to do Macros. This video is old enough I have to likely do a remake of it as some of the settings are different now (new Audacity)
@@BearBear035 it's explained in the video. A lot of it IS voicework and learning how to get their pacing down, which I will go over in another video at some point. For an easier to hear version, check out the 2024 Update version.
You have to be careful on lowering pitch. Once it hits a certain threshold, it will zero out on your vocal levels. (Note: updated version of the tutorial is in the works)
+Chris Trenary Well, the unfortunate part is you would have to layer your voice instead of just modifying it. A Daemon from 40K usually has multiple voices speaking at once. Then you can use my tutorial and others to make your Daemonhost voice.
Record your line, then deepen it with change pitch. Afterwards, set the recorded line to reverse, then add; reverb preset: Large Room or Church hall. The reverse again.
So, this is an old video from 2013. Still can't believe I have people commenting on it TO THIS DAY. In case you didn't notice (Because I've actually gotten this question a fair amount), in the upper left of the video is the program's name, Audacity. For a free software, there is a TON you can do with it.

May the Emperor protect you above all!

You are most welcome!
still works in 2024! thank you so much! this is perfect for recording new voices and it doesn't require a subscription on voice changers!
This video is so old yet so helpful

Despite this being a 9-year old video, this is by far one of the greatest tutorials someone could've ever asked for, thank you.
The fact that to this day it stands up makes me incredibly happy. Now that's something that stands the test of time.
Great tutorial. Can you do one on how to appease a boltgun's machine spirit?
Clean the barrel thoroughly, add a purity seal inside the magazine and make sure it doesn't see how stuck up and retarded the ultra smurfs can be
+Janoria Corven Well, the Ultrasmurfs ARE a bit pants-on-head retarded.

Thank to your tutorial i can finish my warhammer cosplay (with integrate voices in the helmet)
I have been looking for some actually quality tutorial on this, very cool.
Emperor's blessing! Just what I needed. Thanks! :)
The codex does support this action
The amount of views and comments on this video far outstrips any other I have made - it still amazes me.
It supposed to be tactical marine? Sounds little bit like the terminator for me.
Higher pitch little less reverb fuck around with it
Depending on the voice you go for, it can change quite a lot. If I were to redo this tutorial now, my voice is a lot different than it used to be, and the voice in the end would be a lot different.
It worked wonders thank you!
THANK YOU so fuckin' much!
I'm from Germany and i searched for sometrhing like that for over a month!

Thank you, Techmarine. It is good to see a Battle-Brother approve my humble offering.

I tip my fedora to you good sir!

Yo why does my voice vanish when i lower the pitch ?? it just becomes blank for some reason but i can actually do a preview of the sound

How the hell is this video still getting views/comments? I think I hit on something here.
@@MrFullCrumb01 well just know, if a game called War of oblivion kicks off, you payed a major contribution by making this tutorial.
Is there a way I can enable it on my mic so when I speak on discord I sound like it?

don't thank me, this guy recorded everything but couldn't edit it for shit back in 2013
I've learned a fair amount since 2013. At least you recognized that.
And truthfully, constructive criticism like this helps me learn more.
The app you use for it
This is fantastic, but what about a voice changer...?
What the name of the that you use to for the voice to be changed.
+Christopher Ocampo Audacity.
Should Be My Brother,... 😁
He who stands with me shall be my brother.
Question tho. . .how does one use it as a voice changer. . .instead of just a recording voice changer.
I know I'm replying over 2 years after the fact, but this is simply an Audacity TUtorial.
