A lot of cold steel fans came from the shovel! It’s an amazing product at a “cut throat” price 😉 This guy is like the Kalashnikov of knifes, sturdy knifes/tools for the mass!
I was camping with my brothers, and we hiking along a ridge. The ground gave out and i slid down. As i was going my right foot got caught between a down tree branch and a rock, I kept falling and ripped all the connective tissue in my ankle. Used the shove to pry my foot out and make a splint. It didn't help i ended up crawling several miles back to the car. As a side note becuz i was crawling i had ticks all over me and ended up getting treat for lyme disease LOL. I now have 2 plastic bolts in my right ankle. Took 6 months after surgery to walk again.
@R.J. Lewis he did say best 'beater' knives.. meaning inexpensive not top end.. but you can beat up on it and it will last.. I torture my cold steel knives.. I have them from 8-10yrs ago.
Sgt bear - I carry the 4” full serrated Talwar. I think it is far better than the Recon 1 although I love that folder, too. For EDC cutting purposes, obviously the plain edge would be better.
Lynn Thompson is such a cool dude! I love the work Cold Steel puts out and their dedication and commitment to their product shows. I helped a buddy lay sod on his acre plot and used my Pro Lite to cut it to size and at the end of the day it still had a working edge on it. That's just outstanding on $25 knife.
In every video that Lynn Thompson is in he is so passionate about the knives that he and his company produce. It is very contagious and it shows someone that truly loves what they do. He puts a lot of thought and heart into his designs and you can feel his excitement. I will always carry a Cold Steel, Kershaw, and Leatherman with me at all times. Good job bringing him on BladeHQ!
It definitely is a reality in the world today....be safe and watch your back never know and when ....dont ever take your avenues for granted things change real quick...happens all the time every day
I know alot of people talk crap about Cold steel knives. They're definitely a brand you either love or hate. But I'll tell you what. If you ever need a tough knife that gets the job done no matter what you put it through. Cold Steel is the way to go. I love that they're using S35VN now. And man oh man do they come crazy sharp out of the box. They fill a hole in the market that not very many companies do.
Long live the xl cold steel folders. Got a few, just started last year. Edc my large luzon/spartan for the moment. Thanks lynn and cold steel for making these awesome knives
Love Lynn Thompson! Just spent my morning cutting inch think vines with a broken skull. From first to last it went thru so easy. When work needs done it's Cold Steel.
Dude Jaime is on fire on this video!! The clips are hilarious!! The weightlifter made me blow water out my nose laughing!! And then Mean Gene Okerland was soooo classic!! Good job Jaime!
Just ordered my first ever cold steel knife the the 4 max 62rg knife for work and believe I will not be disappointed. As from what I have researched on UA-cam it is one of the strongest heavy used folders out there. I can tell by looking at the knife that it is going to work for me as it has all the many different thing I am looking for in a knife. I own many different type of knives and different makers for all the different type of uses I have from work & EDC to wood craft and self defense and this knife looks like it could do a pretty good job at any one & all of those tasks.
I had a cold steel full serrated tanto fixed blade I bought with my first tax check when I was 18 almost 25 yrsago .used it all over the house and yard and wore the entire serration down and recently made it a straight edge tanto on the grinder. I've got a very large collection of the machetes and pocket knives collected over the years. awesome stuff
My first Cold Steel was a Ti-Lite for my wife. The first one I carried was an AK47 I picked up in Kabul, love that thing. I think the 4MAX will fit in nicely right next to it.
I remember being in high school having a veteran for a substitute teacher saying he carried a cold steel while deployed. He was super cool I carry a recon 1 tanto
If you think an out-the-box edge on a Cold Steel product with the typical steel they use, you might just be amazed as to what some fine-grained carbon like shirogami/white #2 from Hitachi...nothing quite like it, and sharpening it by hand is a joy.
He's easily in the top 10 most egotistical guys I've ever met, but he backs it up with SUPERB knife designs and builds. More than that, he's an avid hunter, supporter of law enforcement and the military, and defender of the Second Amendment. Any video with Lynn Thompson will get me to watch.
I have used my Recon Tanto to chop 2” tree branches while at work. I didn’t even have a slipping of my hand nor did it roll in my hand. I carry it because I trust it and it looks good!
Look at this line up, and tell me Lynn doesn't give a damn. He spares costs in only the most necessary of places, and puts the money where it counts. He makes wonderful knives for the everyday working man, and puts tons of thought into safety and function, and makes the products affordable for damn near everyone. People can talk smack because of the larger than life image he projects, and the very agressive marketing tactics, but Cold Steel fills a role in the knife making world that would leave a gaping void if they weren't around anymore. I support Lynn Thompson, and I think I always will. Also, if you arent aware of this, he has done some amazingly selfless and charitable things, and doesn't ask for credit or recognition. It's genuine.
ive done bought 4 kudu`s. An amazing knife. Sharp as a razor and light as a feather.Bought many other Cold steel blades over the years and every one was an awesome blade.Cold steel has never made a bad blade
This video warms my heart. Been carrying Cold Steel for years. Lynn seems like such a cool guy. Would love to meet him some day. He unapologetically stands behind each product on a personal level. Pretty cool to see someone love design that much.
Lynn Thompson is someone I really respect and I trust Cold Steel. Price, quality and customer service are excellent. And innovation and catalog size are unprecedented
Collected and accumulated knives since I was a kid. Which was a looong time ago. Cold steel is one of my favorite mfgs. Great value and you have selections from more novel items to straight up work like hell models.
I love Cold Steel knives, and Lynn is such an awesome guy. I'd love to just sit around a fire and listen to him tell stories. He has such an innovative mind, and his love of blades is easy to see. I will be picking up a couple, if not several of these 2020 offerings.
I have bought over 30 Cold Steel Knives none have disappointed what you pay and what you get you can't beat them. My favourite manufacturer carry fully serrated VaqueroXL edc or 6" tilite.
I actually prefer a benchmade atomatic edc...iam from Trinodad lookin for a cool benchmade but got to wait till work starts back cause the vir put a halt on work on my side so gotta do some saving when working is back to het a benchmadeautomatic with a case if iam luckyand I will be cool so u all can give me the guidance I need to get one off those blades if u'll don't mind🤷🏾♂️
Those "LITE" knives have me really interested. I've always wanted a beefy cold steel but they're so thick in the pocket. Those LITE models are like the best of both worlds.
My 4max scout arrived today. When I opened the box and he come out of bubble wrapping, I just felt happy and had I biggest smile. Anyway l love this beast
I love CS Blades and Lynn's philosophy on edged tools. I just got my Double safe hunter and 4max scout from Blade HQ and I'm in love to say the least the 4Max is amazing! Thank you CS and Blade HQ!
I still like Cold Steel, however I had an issue actually brought up in this video about failed locks. Back in the very late 90s I bought a 4 inch Voyager Tanto. I was using it to poke a hole in a large cardboard barrel ( the kind we received wire spools in) and unfortunately the lock failed, cut the tip of my thumb off , juat up to the bone and halfway through my index finger. I just sharpened it the night before so I'm guessing that's why it did so much damage. Anyway, I have steered clear of any lock back folder ever since. I did contact Cold Steel , they asked me to send them the knife to check it, however I had a lot of reservations about sending the knife in as, once it's gone it's gone and so is my proof. I cleaned the knife and put it back in its box and wrapper and still have this knife today. I wouldn't ever use it, but I still have it as a reminder. Yes I'm well aware of Cold steel redesigning the lock to the new version of Axis, but once biting twice shy. I still have an original 7 inch Cold steel Recon Tanto that I swear by and was my go to bush knife for 20 years or so.
Cold steel makes the best “cheap” knives money can buy. I mean that in a nice way also. For $30-$40 I can get a cool folder that is quality steel and construction, great locks and down right cool looking. Lynn, if you or anyone from cold steel read this, I’d like to see a line of hunting knives (fixed or folding) that had day glow colors for the handles. Camouflage is cool, but if you drop it or put it down for a minute, they disappear in the underbrush. Bright colors are what I want in a hunting/outdoor knife so I don’t lose it. Keep the camouflage pocket clip as that will be the only part showing. The day glow will be hidden in your pocket until you pull it out.
I never bought a Cold Steel but I've always liked watching Lynn Thompson. He seems a genuinely nice guy. If they start making an FFG Tuff Lite, I'd consider it.
Lovely Cold Steel knives on that table! I did buy a 4Max Scout and SR1 Lite Tanto. I was looking at a Voyager Kris folder, but I bought the Voyager XL Tanto, Voyager Large and XL Drop Point folders instead.
So glad they've brought back the Mini Tuff lite. Will the full size Tuff Lite be making a comeback, too? Had one years back, and honestly was one of the best I've owned.
"This one is featherweight. Most of our knives come with a lanyard hole that allows them to be easily retrieved from the murky depths in their regular service as boat anchors. This one doesn't need a windlass to pluck it from your pocket. We still advise avoiding deep water, though."
I am a huge fan of the tri-ad lock and cold steel in general. I have purchased quite a few cold steel folders over the last month. Just recently picked up the 4-max and air lite. Now I have to get the 1911 and Kris voyager. It’s about time for some more fixed blades.
Yep, this is one of the things that Cold Steel did to me. A lot of people would say 5 ounces is a bit too heavy. For me that's standard weight and I can't even feel they're there when I carry them around.
I carried a large espada for several months and couldn't it was in my pocket. Weight and size considerations are radically overstated in the pocket knife world.
Love this guy so much! He’s such a great guy and such a great knife maker. Everyone should be looking up to him in the knife world. Really great knives. Can’t wait to save up and buy them.
My first serious knife was a Cold Steel SRK that was a factory 2nd. Yup I was extremely tigh on money then . I've now had it for about 30 years and it still does everything I want or need. Thanks Lyn for some great cutlery.
That air lite though!! Omg thats a beautiful knife, it really reminds me of the cold steel broken skull :D which is my favorite cold steel knife ever :)
Great video... this gentleman is a class act. I don’t have any of his knives, but will be picking one up. He speaks to the average man that may not have his knowledge, but can relate. Hope to see more videos with him in it.
Most of us are looking at a knife with the opening of another knife box in mind, Lynn is looking at his knives as to how he can inflict the most damage on a human.
I've got an SR1 (tanto point, and not the Lite version); it's one of my favourite knives, I carry it with me everywhere as it's just the right size and thickness where it's not too big but not too small either.
For me, cold steel delivers undeniable quality and safety, attractive and sturdy designs and they offer them at reasonable prices both high and low. I just ordered the 4 max scout and the sr1 lite, 130 bucks for both, you really cannot beat the quality to price ratio there. You get a whole lot for your money and i love how Mr. Thompson stands by his product 100% of the way. He even goes as far as to prove the quality by testing them and posting the videos, really amazing and it is entertaining!
For my use.. I love the cold steel options with the pocket catch.. I've gotten use to the Spartan and I love my Rajah II.. The Rajah II really is a great blade with many positions to grip it for various uses. While a smaller blade is more conducive for edc as a tool, if Im carrying a blade for self defense.. I want something like the Rajah II, Espada Large, or Talwar XL.. Kris blades are cool.. just not my style.. The 4-Max Scout I'd buy if they had a pocket catch.. I buy what I like..
I EDC an Ultimate Hunter. Cold steel makes huge knives and sometimes that’s not for everyone. But there’s something reassuring about carrying a huge folder. I love cold steel.
@@halfbaked3373 I can agree, if you use it to open cardboard boxes, but I beg to differ in any other case. I've never owned a bugout and I never will. If you want to know why, watch what Wranglerstar said about it. For me, it just won't cut it. :) ua-cam.com/video/TXm_GTDXfNk/v-deo.html
@@damyr the bugout punches well above its weight, literally and figuratively. Despite what wranglerstar says its actually a durable knife. He didnt do any hard use with it because "it didnt feel premium," he hated the plastic and apparently it pinched his finger every time he opened it. It's a knife that can do some real work. I bet kurt and zac would agree.
@@mattpardy2826 nah, for me, the bugout looks like a flimsy chinese toy knife. I can't even imagine to carry it or use it or even look at it. It's like an ultimate cringe (not) knife... and the fact it costs a 100 bucks... I mean... gah! I just want to puke. It's overrated AF!
I respect Lynn Thompson and I trust Cold Steel. I’ve used many for nearly 20 years and quality, durability, price and design are excellent. They are strong and just take abuse, and their innovation and catalog size are unprecedented
Can't touch this 😂😂😂. That's cold blooded.

Jacob De Leon I did not notice that the first time around I felt so awkward for him I blanked out.

I’m pretty sure it’s in big part just a safety mesure. But it was fun for sure.
Edit : seeing the rest of the vid it may not be XD

Story? If it's not to traumatic ofc.

I could listen to this guy talk forever! Love Blade Hq!

Dear Blade HQ, any video with Lynn Thompson gets an instant 👍 from me, he’s such a unique knife-guy. Thanks for the quality videos!

best bang for your buck, those kris blades are badass
I've carryed cold steel folders with me overseas. When it comes to a folder for self defense I don't buy any other brand. Great video thanks
Code 4 + Recon 1 is the way to go

Luzon, best self defense value that can be had
Wouldnt it be illegal?
Cold Steel's new motto " An ounce of Lynn Thompson's arm hair with every knife".
Lol my nigga I laughed waaay to hard at this hahahah

Absolutely. Lol.
Wow...what a interview that would be lol...awkward as heck lol hahaha.
Cringe
What a concept!!!!!!!!!! I will subscribe to the channel that carries it.
Lynn and Lugermonger
I have an old school serrated XL voyager, it’s a beast. I have several Cold Steel products, never been disappointed.
I have AK-47 myself - it's incredible! Greetings from Mother Russia!
Ive been waiting for this video oh so patiently
😵 well worth the wait !!!!!
👊
Me too
Love this guy so much! He’s such a great guy and such a great knife maker. Everyone should be looking up to him in the knife world. Really great knives. Can’t wait to save up and buy them.
I need to get a kris voyager!
My first serious knife was a Cold Steel SRK that was a factory 2nd. Yup I was extremely tigh on money then . I've now had it for about 30 years and it still does everything I want or need. Thanks Lyn for some great cutlery.
I EDC my rajah 2 and it's never failed me
The overall best large folder from coldsteel imo
TK Sproule Such a great looking knife. Definitely my next purchase. Bought the XL Espada and the XL Vaquero last week.
Always a pleasure to listen to Lynn Thompson. Awesome line this year
That air lite though!! Omg thats a beautiful knife, it really reminds me of the cold steel broken skull :D which is my favorite cold steel knife ever :)
Watch the Cold Steel video with Andrew Demko where he talks about how he came up with it...started as a modified broken skull that he carried
Jamie is a genius. If not for the editing, I would have fallen asleep listening to this.
Zac, much much better job interviewing in this one man.
Nice video! It's always prudent to have a knife handy.
"Life-long Phillipino martial artist" 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Don't you wise you could be one 😉 dude is friends with Dan Inosanto and many of the martial artist from that culture.
Lynn Thompson doesn't talk to people he talks at them
I EDC an Ultimate Hunter. Cold steel makes huge knives and sometimes that’s not for everyone. But there’s something reassuring about carrying a huge folder. I love cold steel.
"Its just over 3oz., featherweight"
Laughs in bugout
Yes, because bugout is for feather cutting and nothing more.
@@damyr does everything you need a folder to do tbf just don't baton with it :')
@@halfbaked3373 I can agree, if you use it to open cardboard boxes, but I beg to differ in any other case.
I've never owned a bugout and I never will. If you want to know why, watch what Wranglerstar said about it. For me, it just won't cut it. :)
ua-cam.com/video/TXm_GTDXfNk/v-deo.html
