Looking back at this four years later I m glade this was my first show. And now as a senior I hope that the show we have this year will be one to remember as well
Notice in the last part of the 4 parts of music, there is 2 sets of drummers, ie 2 sets of base drums, quads, & snares on the field. Arcadia HS is one of the few high schools with 3 WGI drum lines. The World line performs with the field show; but in this instance, the music directors decided to add the Open line for added impact. They can be seen standing in the back. They are used in part 4. Awesome show.
@himynameisatticus HAHA, trust me, I am totally grateful for being apart of this band. I think about it everyday when I practice. I'm a little more enthusiastic than most when it comes to supporting them, I have to admit. :P And haha, it is true that being a good marching band makes the experience better, but it really is what you make of it. If you enjoy what you do and who you do it with, then being amazing shouldn't matter. :]
@white0typhoon : the style of the Arcadia band uniforms are at least 50+ years old. They have never changed to the newer looking styles. BTW: Notice the white shoes, it makes it easier for people to spot people that are out of step/phase.
The camera greatly cuts down the band's performance. If possible, you must see it in person to really experience Arcadia greatness. Its one of the greatest treats youll ever have.
@himynameisatticus I really appreciate that, haha. It's kind of hard to watch these videos though, because it'll either take me another year or two when i can actually do something with the marching band :P But im learning my foundation right now, so not complaining. And LOL we watch all the DCI marching bands for aid :P
@guitarheroaddict2 Gosh... Ya see, that's why I sometimes wish I played in a bigger, more serious band... The lack of focus in mine gets ridiculous, and you can see the mistakes caused by it... I shouldn't have to tell people to stop laughing and joking around before finals... Be glad that you have such an opportunity heh.. I know I could play in this band if I learned the fundementals of it, but in Washington there's only like one really good band.. it's a bittersweet 30 minutes from my school
@guitarheroaddict2 A line... World line.... We just have a proud 95 member band of anyone who wants to join haha, i mean really, we're in the top 5 of Washington State, but we are no where near this good... You guys are the type of band that my drumline watches all the time for aid haha
@himynameisatticus LOL DARN, I spoke too soon when I said there were 5 :P I was like halfway through the video and then I deleted my comment going "Oh @_@" Haha I'm a timpani player for this year in A-line but I'm planning to try out for world line next year. :P and LOL Alright, I'll check your high school out :]
@guitarheroaddict2 noo at the end of the show there is definitely ten haha, either way.... In my opinion, Arcadia has the best drumline in the nation... I think Avon gets what they deserve, but you guys own percussion big time... I'm not sure what you play, but you should check out my band.. Cheney High School, but make sure you find a 2011 video, not anything before 2010 haha
lol, percussion can't be in tune XD, they play only one sound of note. I am talking in general with the different chords at critical points, such as a hold, or entrance chord, me standing on the side at one tournament, the whole flute and clarinet section had a very eerie chord, but because of sheer numbers they drowned out the out of tune people barely up to the box, but up close, you can hear those who stick out. i guess thats why band directors say if one is out of tune, then all of ya is XD
i gotta say they arent that good when it comes to the music quality :( their intonation with each other is terrible. Their marching is very good, but their formations sometimes arent that good. i have to say for a high school band this size, i expected more from them. No matter the size. people say oh its because they are so big that its hard to rehearse, yeah yeah, a small band keeping in time, marching, music, and everything is just as hard as a large band. anyways great job though arcadia :)
WOWWWWWWW!!!! That was probably the best performance from Arcadia at AFOB in the last 6 years!!
