The server doesn’t even need to be terraformed. There could be literally groups in 2b2t dedicated to protecting bases, fending off grievers, planting forests and building secret resource centers for new players.

It takes around 5-20 hours to get in anyways, unless you pay to be let in above everyone else. There is so many people who want to get into this server that the host has to restrict access.

It's not about the new players it's about SENDING a message
The players were promised loot if they worked on the ocean long enough. If they took their eyes off of the loot for just a second, they could see that spawn would be inescapable, with or without loot. Idiots.

As cool as it is that they managed to pull this off, theres a big part of me that thinks it was a bad idea. The spawn ocean makes it so nearly all new players drown and therefore makes it no fun for those who aren't veterans. I understand that new young players can be seen as annoying, but without them the server will eventually die out when the old people move on. I feel that this project is going to come back at really bite in the long run.

The thing is, the water cube actually made it easier for noobs to escape. They often spawn outside of the cube region because of minecraft's spawn algorithm

@@komiks42 water breathing has been around since 1.9. The pufferfish item is in the 1.12 version. The pufferfish mob was added in 1.13.
