Every time I watch this video I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes. Such a magnificent and gorgeous plane. I remember going to Pittsburgh International airport in the late 60's and seeing one parked there waiting for its next flight. Living not too many miles from the airport I always saw them flying over. Miss those days.
Thanks for this compliment. Super Connie evokes emotions. I am proud on my two flights with this Super Connie. It was most spectacular. Glad you saw them flying in the late 60's. Good old aviation times. Cheers Matt

What an airplane! It just flew over my house in Switzerland and what a sound! There are two specific sounds in the air i can always instantly recognize: the JU-52 and now the one of Super Conny, which is frequently visible on Swiss skies! :-)
marine4814 My mistake. I was convinced the super constellation went over to the C56, i beleive some of them did. This one though is Wright R-3350 powered.
@@adrienperie6119 They actually due have turbine recovery on those some design where the exhaust goes through a turbine and that feeds via a shaft directly back into the engine for more power.
Great video. No hideous music, just great sound (its own music!) and good views. Wish that gorgeous creation would hit the west coast of the USA. Very majestic. Sehr schön!! Vielen dank. !
My all time favorite airliner....this iconic plane is something else...absolutely beautiful...and those engines sound amazing...great upload.....Steve.
In 1962, I flew on one of these across the Pacific. Travis AFB, Cal., to Hawaii, to Midway Island, to Wake Island, to Guam, to the Philippines. 30+ hours, just those 4 engines droning on and on. Beautiful plane, but I couldn't wait to get off of it.
I was amazed at how preserved this old girl is. The flame out from the exhaust is a bit scary but that's they way the designs were at the time. Kudos to all you men who just keep her flying on and on,and let us know when you will make fly overs in my town of san diego,CA.
Very nice rare catch or would be here. Years ago they had plastic model plans, car, kits that you could assemble with glue, and they came with some livery decals and you bought any paint needed to complete the model. I made the constellation with a TWA livery and it was sharp. Model plane/car kits went down the tubes when kids in the 60's &70's started sniffing the glue to get high, unbelievable, but true
Mahassheanie: GREAT TO HEAR THE ' OL GAL IS VERY MUCH LOVED! KEEP ON FLYIN', GRAND MA, JUST KEEP ON A FLYIN' FOR MANY GENERATIONS, STILL TO COME, THAT WILL ENJOY YOUR "GREAT BEAUTY"!
Your just Matt :) abbreviation from Matthias. Thanks for watching! Yes, the staff does its utmost to keep this Super Connie in perfect condition. Cheers Matt
When I was a kid growing up in Milwaukee we lived just a few blocks away from the "old" terminal on Layton Ave. This was before the jets and seeing these beautiful Connie's was always a treat. Great video.
lovely stuff - super shots and great engine start ups I went to see an engine start up of the Avro Shackleton MR2 and was able to get similarly close to your shots of the Constellation - great experience - the plane is not yet airworthy but the engines are periodically fired up

Wonderfully started show. This is the best of all. Fantastic airplane. Beautiful L-1049 taking off. Now, what do you think about my Connie here 0n my UA-cam's channel?
All 4 engines rotating the same way! WTF???? Can you imagine the torque that creates that the pilot has to deal with? The rudder is probably designed to be permanently bent in the opposite direction to counteract that, creating incredible drag. The plane was released in 1951 ... the factory could not have produced engines that were available in right- or left-hand rotation???????
As I was saying, before my "overly sensitive keyboard, got away from me. Thank you very much for watching and comment! You are right, Super Connie deserves the best treatment. I can assure you that the staff is looking very well after this grand old lady. She is in excellent condition and remains able to fly for the next decade. Super Connie still wants to fulfill flight dreams of so many aviation enthusiasts :)
I used to ride in this beauty pretty regularly from New Orlean-St. Louis-Chicago and return in the late 50s. It was always a pleasure. The interiors were roomy and comfortable. The U-shaped cocktail area at the back invited pax to meet each others. Often, cabin crew would sit-in, too. The service was excellent. Those were the days, my friend.
In the air where it belongs and not stuck in some museum someplace. I wish more big stuff like that was flying regularly in the States (at least we now have two B29s flying now as of July, 2016)

Back in the day when you wore your Sunday best for air travel. The Connie is one of the most beautiful airframes ever conceived. Slim body, long legs and a unforgettable tail end.
The amount of blood, sweat and tears it takes to keep an aircraft like this in the air is beyond most peoples comprehension.
I am among the ones that would gladly provide blood and sweat, and the tears would be of joy.
