I've Polish and Scandinavian ancestors; didn't know about grave blankets, until today. Thank you for enlightening us, and what a great job you did on the video!!! Keep on, please!
This is my first time hearing of a grave blanket, Steph. Thank you so much for making such a beautiful video to keep this tradition alive. Everything is well explained step-by-step and the result is so lovely and heart-warming. It is an important tradition to pass on to further generations and to remember those who have gone before us. Thank you.
This was terrific and your video came out really well. In my family, we used to plant annuals, so we would plant something in something in the spring, pull it out in the fall and then usually we would purchase a grave blanket in time for Christmas and then take it up around Valentine's Day. The rules have changed though and while our cemetery allows a "spruce pillow" of 2'x3', what I see more commonly is people buying wreaths and putting them on the ground. My sister told me she just visited this last week with wreaths.
You did a phenomenal job. I am going to try to make a blanket for my mama and brother. I just pray mine turns out half as beautiful as yours. God bless!!
Its a beautiful blanket -- well done indeed. A word of caution though, Nandina berries are highly toxic to bird. I have a Nandina shrub and as soon as the berries appear, I cut them and trash them so the birds are safe. There are other berries in my garden they can enjoy, but a big No to the Nandina berries.
Gorgeous ~ Thanks for sharing Stephanie ❤
thanks! Getting ready next week to make them again for my grandparents and mother.
What a lovely reverence paid to your grandparents. Thank you for sharing.
thank you
It's a lovely idea with a long tradition. Keep making videos! This one was a great start.
Got my bow one finished. My son in law put it together and i hope to share it later today.
