Why couldn't Pakistan develop democracy?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 лис 2022
- The video argues that the elite, represented by the civil military bureaucracy developed during colonial times, is the principal hurdle to the development of democracy in Pakistan.
A summary of the work of Andrew Wilder, "The Pakistani Voter, Electoral Politics and Voting Behaviour in the Punjab" (Oxford University Press 1999).

A good initiative sir, last night I watched your session with Faisal warraich and wanted to recommend it to others. And this video has cleared my mind up to some extent on this topic. I suggest you to please continue this topic further please. Thank you
Absolutely correct and needed suggestion, this highly important topic should be repeated and further lesser known facts should be included till a good portion of public become atleast aware if not fully educated on the subject. Thanks for thoughtful comment.
Thank you sir for sharing the summary of the book in a very easy to understand interesting , and in relation to cause of political instability in pakistan. I hope that poltician will learn something from this though its unlikely to be. Thank you sir
Great video!
The question that comes to mind is, how then India managed to break free from the shackles of civil-military beauracray and the ingredients.
People of India are by nature are secular.
Much informative video 👍
May Allah Bless you sir, it's because of you and Faisal Warriach that I am able to understand this complicated and annoying situation of Pakistan and I now know how powerless we Awaam are.

Sir, you missed that in 'Tashkand Accord' Ayub declared the issue of Kashmir as a "bilaterali issue" between Pakistan and India. Although, we now claim that Kashmir is an international issue but fact is that Ayub declared it a "bilateral issue" between Pakistan and India in "Tashkant Accord".
Very informative sir❣️
Sir also make video on challenges of democracy from 2008 to 2022.

"پاکستان میں طاقت کا اصل سرچشمہ عوام ہیں"
Sir, you presented it very well. I appreciate.
Has the referred author did not mention role of cold War politics in developing countries regarding socio-political processes?????
If electing your leader means it's "democracy" (as Wilder would suggest) then why were Britishers ousted who introduced elections? Did we "elect" the British or the East India Company? That's the point! They gave us elections and electoral system. Why didn't we keep them here?
Elaborate please?
MashAllah such a good work in history of Pakistan for us . We are students of Pakistan studies ❤
Has the second part of this video come out yet??
This book should be recommended to CSS candidates so they can fashion a more informed article on the reasons why democracy hasn't prevailed yet in Pakistan.
And then the same bureaucrates later suck the blood of the poors.
Pakistan democracy fundamental problems are lacking Intraparty democracy in Pakistan political parties

Yes, a good lecturer with eye-opening facts. Is decision-making power enough to get people out of poverty as witnessedd in China?
The Nation feel proud to have Two Doctors in Feild of Education: Dr Taimur Rahman and Dr Pervez Hood boy! I read somewhere that a reader lives a thousand life before he dies...I have not understood the idea until now...
comprehensive analysis comrade but video thori si lambi thi ....🙂
Excellent video. I have request for you though: please make a video on 1) how India developed democracy 2) what is the state of democracy in Bangladesh (historically as compared to Pakistan).
Thanks
Yes please
Sir, kindly tell us about Civil-Military bureaucracy nexus.
Kindly also do a series on why this didn't happen in india? And what model did indians follow.
Sir Kindly start course for CSS to understand political science.
will there be a part 2?
Can we conclude that democracy is the idea to be implemented in a society where majority is educated and knows what best for it?
Population or you can say masses still needs to be educated regarding rights and duties to propel them to be able to understand the differences of the resulted outcomes.
Greetings from Islamabad NUML , Dr. Taimur, I highly appreciate your efforts to make learning easy and accessible for everyone .Sir, I searched for the book online but can't get it for free . Can you help in this regard? Will be grateful to you.
Very Interesting. Do you think after 28th may 1998. the civil military nexus had a strong narratives to dismiss and jeopardize elections for the protection of nuclear assets? what could be a counter narrative?
The lecture's title can also be "The summary of the Book, 'Political and Constitutional History of Pakistan by Hamid Khan' "
Wonderful crash course in history with rational analysis of our failures. The same elite vadera class was the driving force behind One Unit because Bengalis wanted large scale land reforms based on Indian model. Obviously, whenever there was a clash of interest, this elite class won using army, bureaucracy and lately judiciary; at the cost of poor Awam (who are getting poorer and powerless with each passing day).😢
You are forgetting another important player: the Maulvi. Yes, it is true that only the elite benefits but the subordination of the masses is largely non-coercive and without apparent force. Religion is central to the enterprise. By a fascist reworking of Islam, people are divided into cults and any prospect of a united front is forever averted. The irrationality dominant throughout Pakistan has robbed people of any sense of themselves, their surroundings and history. It is really sad
@@chandionadeem Absolutely, I agree 100%
