ABOUT NEW AMSTERDAM
In the wake of the ambulance crash that ended Season 1, medical director Dr. Max Goodwin grieves the death of his wife, Georgia, and learns the difficulties of being a single parent - all the while continuing his commitment to solve systemic health care issues at the hospital. Add in his new responsibilities as a father and with cancer still lingering in the rearview mirror, everyone around Max must wonder how long he can sustain this impossible load. But "How can I help?" is not just Max's catchphrase, it's his reason for living. As long as he's helping others, Max is able to find hope in the most hopeless of places. The cast includes Ryan Eggold, Janet Montgomery, Freema Agyeman and Jocko Sims, with Tyler Labine and Anupam Kher.

I think his perspective is essential at new Amsterdam. Max’s is inspiration and wonderful but could be exhausting at times for those under him as well as him. Dr Shin’s approach adds some much needed balance.
I do like his philosophy.
For the problems that are "beneath him", giving it to those less practiced not only gives the newer residents experience, but also makes it so that while everyone is giving 100%... He can give 120% when it really matters.
Right, they have a million doctors in the ER basically acting like nurses. Be a doctor TF???
I am a nurse and he is right. "Self-care saves lives". You have to take care of yourself first because if you don't then you are putting yourself and the person that your are taking care of at risk as well. It is important to make sure that your are ready to go when needed but you have to take care of yourself and needs first.
Preach, a phone call to ask for advice is all that's needed he doesn't actually need to be there
Yeah this is what Dr Blooms whole arc was in season 1 too. She wasn't taking care of herself, eventually developed an addiction, and was messing up at the hospital

I like Dr Shin's Character. This is a real and truthful character picture especially when you really listen to his comments and remarks. These Characteristics may be what attracts Helen. Leadership and honesty. Max and Helen are a good professional team; while Helen and Shin are a BALANCE. We are so much better when there is BALANCE in our lives.
this guy is build for arrogant and overly confident characters lol.. but in real life, he's one of the most humble and nicest person

He was the one who bought the rights of Good Doctor from Korea and pitched it to CBS (the channel that made 5-0). They turned him down. So he took it to ABC. It became a hit. Now he opened up more opportunities

Work ethics aside. I never laughed as hard as I did with this drama until Daniel Dae Kim's character showed up. I was in stitches his first day at New Amsterdam.
I really hope you people cast Colin Donnell as Dr. Connor Rhodes, as he was a doctor at Chicago Med ( Also a medical drama of NBC) but as his character decided to move he’s no more in Chicago med....they can show like he moved from Chicago to NY.As also in real life Colin moved from Chicago to NY.

saba that won’t happen bud. New Amsterdam is not created by Dick Wolf, and doesn’t take place in the same cinematic universe. At best, you could hope for the actor to get a different role on this show, but it’s wildly unlikely. Most actors leave to do something different, not to do the same thing on a different show.

I think you’re a great match for each other and hope this relationship goes forward as they can really respect each other’s strengths and help with each other’s weaknesses! Max is a great guy but like I mentioned in another video, he’s carrying way too much baggage and is not ready to give anyone the love they really need. Hopefully the show will get him on board to EMDR sessions so he can let go of the past before he can really embark on the future he deserves with the perfect match for him! Hoping someone from the show is reading this!

I think Max is end game, but I’m glad the show isn’t pushing them together prematurely. Many shows put two characters together too soon then run out of climactic storylines so they have to break them up to keep the show running for 5-10 years. I’m glad it’s a slow burn and I’m happy to see DDK filling in until that time comes!
@Miss Dor's daughter Not really, they are going to build something that will bring Max home. The writer's will never let them be an end game. Even if they end up engaged. Helen's endgame will always be Max Goodwin because they love each other.

I'm glad Max's fling wasn't much as I felt like those two didn't really have much of a connection, and I cannot really get upset with Sharpe over dating this doctor, but I'm not a fan of it. I really do hope that we won't have to wait too long for Hellen to realize her feelings for Max and end things with Shin so her and Max can finally form a romantic relationship that they've been building upon since episode 1.

I noticed that when he showed up, he asked if they had any trauma cases. If they HAD, he would have been right there...but they didn't. As a result, he decided to shower and change and eat so that when they DID have a case, he was ready.

Max and Shin are two sides of the same coin. Max believes aiding and helping people to the best of your ability, Shin believes that too, but he also believes that you need to care for yourself before you can care for others. I've been the Max in my group. Pushing my limits till I couldn't go anymore, but always asking "How can I help", but I've gone down that Shin way: helping and caring for myself before caring for others.
You can and should help, but only after you help yourself, remember that y'all
It is a psychological effect that we want to save everybody because we resist to look on ourselves because of our own trauma in the past. Then I came up with a mantra, " I am no Superman to save everybody ", and it helped me a lot.

It’s actually really smart writing. Too many shows put the characters in relationships too early in the series and then they have to break them up or kill one of them off because they can’t keep the story running for 5-10 years. So it’s good that they are taking their time with these two.

My thoughts also. Max and Helen will be the endgame in the final season/final episode. Something really dramatic will have to happen to let them realize they were meant to be.
But it will keep us watching and waiting!
