That was excellent. You nailed the orchestral quality of the work. Your performance is by far the best I have heard of the Sonata. Thank you for posting this.
Great performance of a work that requires the kind of emotional sensitivity it gets here. We Sibelius fans obviously know the big symphonic works best, but this lovely recording gives us a chance to relish a truly fine interpretation of his biggest piano work. Well, except perhaps for Kyllikki and the Tree Suite.
I agree. He really grasped the orchestral sound of this piece. So much of Sibelius' piano works are influenced by orchestral works (obviously). This piece in particular though, you can hear the different instruments and sections of the orchestra in various parts. It is very easy to lose that given the tempo and requires delicate touch.
That was excellent, as if inspired by the compose bringing it into life. More people should hear this. You belong to the best pianists.
Absolutely stunning and inspired performance of this underrated piece. Thanks for bringing it to life!
Thank you. Greetings from Opole, Poland.

So far, the best rendition of this underrated jewel.
