  • Judy Garland - A Cottage For Sale - 4K - Colour 60FPS
I've spent quite some time restoring this video, after it was recommended to me by a Judy fan.
It’s restored from a capture of the TV episode and downloaded from UA-cam so there are limits of what to expect. With the low bit rate the trade off with upscaling was going to be a loss of detail.
The process involved expanding the video into individual frames and resizing the frames to 8k so I have some wiggle room detail wise. I wanted to get every little detail that I could from the low bitrate video.
Then I created PS App Droplet to automatically edit and adjust each frame based on my edits to one frame. Then it automatically output the adjusted frames to my hard drive.
After this I imported the image sequence and recompiled the video using the same technique as animation.
From there I cropped the 8k video to 4k 16:9 which should pinch in the details and make it look a little better at that resolution.
In the end, I hope that I have something that stirs more vivid memories of the great actor and singer, Judy Garland.

The most powerful part of the performance is the ending note and the pain in her eyes. The audience claps and she looks down and gets herself together. Beautiful.

It's not surprising Ms Garland struggles in moments delivering a song like A Cottage for Sale 💔 But, despite it's desperately lamentful, enormously sentimental subject matter, she's never overwhelmed and sucks it up to pull through like the pro she truly always was 🥰

Mesmerizing! Her voice at this stage is deeper and more soulful for these type of ballads.

It’s beautiful. The original as well as your restoration. Thank you for doing it. Such a heartfelt rendition.

Excellent, as usual. Judy's ability to put across a lyric was unsurpassed and this video is due testimony to that. Thank you.

These are great. Can you do her performance if Just In Time from episode 9? She starts out at the piano with Mort. I think it’s the most the most joyful performance of the series. She covered the full range of emotions.

I was just on another site playing different versions of this wonderful song. I played one by Don Cornell which was rated as the second best version. I don't know who was rated at #1, but it just had to be this exquisite version by Judy. Sublimely sad, but so beautifully sung that brought tears to my eyes.

Funny, I've only heard this sung by Chuck Berry at the end of his doc. Hail Hail Rock N Roll. Judy unleashes the full poignance.

Thank you to the uploader who cut this number in half, OMG, idk who Judy pissed off so badly that they decided to make this song segue into "hey, look me over", but good lord it was a jarring 180° swerve when all of a sudden as the piano fades out suddenly trumpets and "hey, look me over lend me an ear!"

Incredible! And in colour! (Canadian/British spelling) Was Mort playing the piano? I wish this was in stereo....but what can you do with television in 1963/1964 Thanks for this ! bob in toronto

Hi Bob, so do I. There are probably more skilled audiophiles out here than I who could extract the vocals from the music and remix it. A similar technique for Audio was used for “Get Back” which is probably the best colorisation, and restoration work I’ve ever seen.
