@@trc7343 NER0cs's 2022 report on player's prime found that top-tier CS players peak lasts between 20-24, with the latter age being when they begin to decline. Xyp9x is 3 years removed from that. So yes, he is getting older and can't compete at the same level.
Insane how many times he gets away with just sticking the bomb in the 1v1s
People were so afraid of him, that they didn't dare push because he always won those. It was clear in 2020, when people started to figure Xyp out, that a huge part of his clutch potential was because people were scared of him. Of course that fear came from somewhere because he was so good, but i.e. the NAF 1v1 where NAF should just have pushed and gotten the kill. So many times before someone has pushed Xyp and gotten punished.

@@jacobsejer4527 Absolutely true. I would say in 2020 and onwards his clutch ability plummeted due to both his decision making and individual skill declining sharply.
@@beanburritocs i think it's worth mention that the mechanics (and to some degree positioning &c) of pretty much every pro improved a lot, too.
but yeah, i miss xyp at his beastly best

Much is said about device's and Magisk's insane performances, but Xyp9x consistently won impossible clutches that changed the history of the matches. I hope to see prime Xyp9x again in the future, this guy's insane.

@@joedsaligAstralis is falling short ever since coach zonic left and the multiple questionable roster changes only made it worse. Xyp wasn’t performing well either and is now benched in the talent team

Wish Astralis of 2018 can run it back one more time.
They're getting too old. dev1ce/Xyp9x are 27. gla1ve is 28. dupreeh is 30. Magisk is the youngest at 25 and even Magisk likely only has 2-3 good years left before he realistically has to transfer to an IGL/support role to stay relevant. gla1ve and dupreeh have families to tend to. dev1ce and Xyp9x are probably going to be looking to get their lives outside of the game in order (especially dev1ce). That leaves just Magisk left and maybe dev1ce since he has the talent to just keep going till he's 33 and retire with a 1.0 rating his last year.
2020 and 2021 were supposed to be Astralis's year. They couldn't survive Online so that was it for them.

As a CS fan there was nothing more beautiful for me than watching some of these clutches live. Highly doubt we will see Xyp back in the server but no matter what the greatness of his clutches will remain with us. Thanks for everything Clutch Minister!

Take into account that they play on monitors that display at least 240 frames per second, we are watching this max in 60 so we miss a lot of information that they can quickly see

back in the day level of skill was very low if you only watch these clips, simple mistakes gives ez clutches.. always wait 3-4 second before peek in fake plant/plant situations... imo skill of pro players in these days is much higher

They moved BlameF to Lurk and it was pretty much over for him. If you a couple of clutches from 2021-22. In all of them he was last man standing and allowed to play the way he plays the best.
