Found this video from a link on my son’s Facebook page yesterday. He took his life a few minutes later. Thanks for allowing me to see and hear it and share his final moments
A change of scenes, a change of style. A change of hopes, with no regrets, A chance to watch, admire the distance, Still occupied, though you forget. Different colours, different shapes, Over each mistakes were made. I took the blame. Directionless so plain to see, A loaded gun won't set you free. So you say. We'll share a drink and step outside, An angry voice and one who cried. I gave you everything and more, This pain's too much, can't take much more. I've walked on water, run through fire, Cant seem to feel it anymore. Because we're... Yay... Hoping for something more, Hoping for something else. We're... Yay... You seeing me this way, You're hoping for something more. When our love goes WRONG!
definetly a tribute... no one can ever duplicate the original with any cover thats just the way it is n always will be,, but i gotta give moby credit 4 he always covers this song he keeps ian alive, n he did a great job in this version with ians original band mates, i tip my hat 2 him!
I won't blame Moby... I think his cover is one of the best covers I've ever heard of Joy Division... obviusly nothing to do with the original one and all-mighty Ian Curtis... but is still a good one, a very respectful tribute to Joy Division and Ian Curtis. I must say this one sounds very "metal"... I preffer his own acoustic cover.
+Jordan Isaac man i was like i herd this song long ago herd it yesterday scince then was on my mind to find fursciante on fac3tweet and as him do a cover that inz@n3 been running my mind for that &pecial 1 he plays for
This was the last song/video my son heard and saw. He posted at 3:18 am on July 22, 2018 sayin he liked this version best, then texted me at 3:22 saying, "I love you, Dad." That was the last text I ever received from him. Shortly after this he took his life. Fuck these songs about suicide. Enough already. Rest in peace my beautiful boy.
@seventhsun1982 Whoa really now? but seriously you do have a point. Everybody will always, and I mean ALWAYS, argue that the original is better. It gets really repetitive and annoying sometimes hearing it over and over again. Thanks man. =)
Well this is a very good version I think. I mean, it is very much in keeping with the Joy Division style...you know, you feel the tension bottling up until it explodes at the end. And Moby does some nice screaming at it's peak. You'll see a similar technique in 'Transmission' with 'And we could daaaaaance'.
haha, jesus. it's the same shit with every cover on youtube. yes people, you are not making any astute observations by informing the viewers that the "original is better"...NO FUCKING SHIT. you mean to tell me Ian Curtis was better at singing his own song, that he wrote, and created? wow. that's astounding! what a fascinating opinion! I'm sure Moby would be the first to say the same. I would call it more of a tribute than a cover, and certainly nobody was looking to outdo the original.
no mention of Joy Divison, it's Moby and New Order there cannot be another JD so it is tribute, a good one too. The band did a good job of carrying Moby- he gave it a good shot but he lacks the desparation of the young man, half his age who was struggling with some issues I don't believe Moby has had to deal with.
Yes, obviously all originals are the best except for the Mike Flowers Pops version of Wonderwall and Rolf Harris version of Stairway to Heaven. Both far better than the plodding originals.
@seventhsun1982 Well, Bob Dylans songs most of the time sound better (to me) reworked than original, and I can think of a few other cases too... but all in all these are the exceptions that prove the rule that originals are better.
Bernard and Hook played with Moby and John Frusciante on that one. Hook said Moby was in tears.

I am deeply sorry for your loss..
No words, peace be with you
So so sorry for your loss. Peace be with you.
Why you posting that if your son took his life. note
@@callumcc8897 Because it's bullshit? I don't know.
Love this version. Nothing replaces or outshines Ian's and the boys version though. Thanks for sharing this gem.
A change of scenes, a change of style.
A change of hopes, with no regrets,
A chance to watch, admire the distance,
Still occupied, though you forget.
Different colours, different shapes,
Over each mistakes were made.
I took the blame.
Directionless so plain to see,
A loaded gun won't set you free.

When our love goes WRONG!
My fave JD song and hats off to the musicians here who are keeping the original alive
yess of course
this is joy division minus Ian Curtis, they went on to become New order

La encontré por casualidad hace unos años y la amo. Tiene una fuerza que me encanta.

Parabéns NEW ORDER!!

It was John Frusciante on Guitar.
+Jordan Isaac

Hooky and Barney also played on that one

Epic.
This sounds like something you may would hear in The Regular Show.
No one can beat Ian's vocals on this song...still great tho
HEAT!
Too cool!!!
Epic..
Ooooh, I like that amplified groan at 3:17.
great
Very excellent cover.
LOVE IT

Nice one.
Barney tributes Tony Iommi with War pigs licks

when he did the cover ( for the movie heat) it fit the scene perfectly
The original is tighter, and therefore considerably better from a technical standpoint... but this one's much RAWER!! i love it.
Not bad, but they should've put the otiginal version from Unknown Pleasures in the actual soundtrack
my favorite cover of this song next to john frusciante's
Amazing Stevie64B
HEAT
haha, jesus. it's the same shit with every cover on youtube.
yes people, you are not making any astute observations by informing the viewers that the "original is better"...NO FUCKING SHIT.

i think moby did capture pain in his voice better then he did in any other cover of this song a job well done by moby
He was playing with his Joy Division ídols
@hellswinter...Wait this isn't the right version! This one's also raw, but my personal favourite version is the moby one from "I Like To Score"
sorted man r.i.p ian
@thedunneymonster Billy's playing guitar.
where did that awesome guitar solo they had in HEAT go:O?
its new orders song so if they want madonna to do vocals....no problem.
they gave us the music so just enjoy it
RIP JD
Ian we miss u
fuckin hell that's heavy briliant
@WizLaudan73 I meant to say "Legend...wait for it...dary!!!",I wasn't myself. Great song
Sounds like Joy Division singing Moby.
no mention of Joy Divison, it's Moby and New Order there cannot be another JD so it is tribute, a good one too. The band did a good job of carrying Moby- he gave it a good shot but he lacks the desparation of the young man, half his age who was

@seventhsun1982 Yeh iagree it is a nice tribute to our ian lol
@Dorkas12345 Did you mean to say "Legend...wait for it...ary"?
leagen...wait for it...ary
Шикарная песня, но кавер есть кавер, хоть и с душой. Но все равно сильно!!!
@JODQ11 yeah they did but it's a fucking eargasm anyway, moby is cleraly into into it and i love it!
Deathcamp Project made a good cover of the song too.
british through and through wot a band
Yes, obviously all originals are the best except for the Mike Flowers Pops version of Wonderwall and Rolf Harris version of Stairway to Heaven. Both far better than the plodding originals.
Tf are you talking about. Led Zeppelins version of Stairway to Heaven is best song of all time
@seventhsun1982 i actually like this more
Which doesn't mean that a cover can't sound better then the original version, for some listeners at least.
not bad at all actually
@seventhsun1982 Well, Bob Dylans songs most of the time sound better (to me) reworked than original, and I can think of a few other cases too... but all in all these are the exceptions that prove the rule that originals are better.
Sorry, but absolutely nothing compares to the original. Good try anyways.
Moby was the only good thing about this... Damn shame.
the original is mucho better
Im sorry but i dont feel it...not like when ian sings..
@seventhsun1982 Thats why covers sucks!
This is a really bad cover of an amazing song! Moby's studio version is vastly better - a worthy cover version in fact.
