You lost me a "government is around 100% of GDP" (42:35). In the US government is about 36% of GDP which is low compared with most other developed countries. I think it is remarkably naive and uninformed to say that the divisions in the USA fall along the lines of the split between the two main political parties. We are in a new paradigm right now. You lost me a "government is around 100% of GDP" (42:35). In the US government is about 36% of GDP which is low compared with most other developed countries. Howe has some interestig ideas but him saying that is sloppy. He probably means that the the national US govt debt is around 100% of GDP (it's 121%). That's high but no where near say Japan with over 260% of debt to GDP. The good thing about high government debt is it decreases the likelihood of war unless the threat is existential. There are no existential threats to the US. Only self-generated internal ones. NATO is a US project supporting US interests around the world. A lot of US spending on defense is to make jobs at home and when other countries spend on defense it boosts US armaments industries.

I think it is remarkably naive and uninformed to say that the divisions in the USA fall along the lines of the split between the two main political parties. We are in a new paradigm right now. The division really exists between the establishment forces and a new emerging consensus party now represented by the unity between Trump, RFK, Jr., and potentially Elon Musk, among others. This is a new development and a new political realignment with corporate and institutional powers on one side and new populist-inspired resistance on the other. What is emerging as the impetus for this realignment is the growing realization that our institutions are not only not fit for purpose, but that they have been largely captured by corporate interests and are acting in opposition to the welfare of the general population.
Inflation is never going to bail us out of this. Never.

That 80 million rounds is a very low estimate. I think it is around a billion rounds. There are over 300 million firearms in America. You couldn't even load a 3rd of that with only 80 million. 80 million wouldn't even outfit every AR out there. And there are many, many citizens with tens of thousands of rounds.
