Very good suggestions Peter. With regard to water droplets on leaves, do you recommend using a CPL filter to make the droplets more transparent and less reflective?
It depends on the effect you want. Instead of using a CPL filter, the cheap option is to make sure that you shoot with the sun behind you so you use front lighting on you subject. This gives way less reflections in droplets compared to using backlighting which makes the water droplets reflect straight into your lens.
