Read alittle into the book before judging it. Intrepid isnt a AAA studio. If it was Id agree with you. This is a studio where the ceo is bankrolling 50+ million of his own dollars to bring it to life. Our paying for alpha 2 access is a choice we make to help financially float the development cost so that they wont have to take in investors who'll send their bean counters to start forcing intrepid to make decisions, a choice that historically ruin all games its exercised on. I donated money to help fund the project and I volunteer my time to help develop the project by testing. Anyone who bought into alpha 2 or are considering buying into the alpha 2 under other reasons are misinformed, but not due to lack of communication from intrepid, because they have stated this fact endlessly. Thats it. Stop tossing shit at something because it looked like something that was shit previously. Use your critical mind and investigate before drawing conclusions or dont draw conclusions at all. Please.
Great vid, thanks for taking the time to make this. I'm not in the alpha but have been watching this game with great interest. I'm super interested in the guilds, nodes (towns?), mayorship, trade, and politics. Please keep 'em coming!
Would hazard to guess that they are doing an early population stress test on the servers with the merges. So, PvP will be non-consentual outside cities?
Like most of what you said however, don’t blame exploitation on server population. Cheaters suck and will always suck. They would exploit regardless of how many people are there.
kickstarter raised 3mil yet gamers are paying to be play testers. $120-100 for each phase which has three tiers. Why have QA when gamers will pay to be the QA. Also, Indie teams is a small group. not 120+ people from AAA backgrounds. Let's hope it's not another TDB on release.
It's more or less an investment in development. If that doesn't interest you, then yeah, don't do it. The game is going to require funding to be completed.. like $250 mil at least.. help or don't. All mmo's are extremely expensive.
$120 for the privilege to test their game for them is insulting. I love the concepts of this game, but ya'll giving them a pass on this is going to burn us all downstream. Asking for $30 for access to an Alpha is the industry standard, and works time and time again. We have become too desperate for that WOW killer...
That $110 is to test ALPHA 2 phase 2 and 3, BETAS 1 & 2, 1 month free gametime on launch and $15 embers (in-game currency). And FYI, this will last for 1-2years worth of testing. WOW is currently $15/mo. to play, and that's $180/yr. So I think Ashes of Creation $110 Alpha Access is really worth it for me.
@@mikoyb.1291 This is exactly what I'm saying! The wait till beta is too long and i rather TEST this game to its full stages than pay multiple games ill never play again in a couple months tbh.
The fact that testers now having to pay in order to test a game, instead of the other way around, is now an industry standard, is mindblowing.
You don’t have to. Let us people with money do what we want.
In what game did players (not QA) get paid for testing? Players getting paid has never been an industry standard.

If I could con a team of turbonerds into paying ME money to clean my toilet, I'd totally do it.
@Grimmnight16 go buy your clown paint

some albion style influence for econ/farming with traditional mmo combat/dungeons/raiding.
I keep wanting to go in on AoC but I'm fool noob and only played on rails mmo before 😢 It looks fun, even the bad bits kinda.

That is indeed true. Thanks for sharing your take on that!

Sadly the 100$is way too much spend on alpha access 😂
not to mention its only for alpha, full version will require monthly subscription...

@nerd_n8t i will just wait that will come out tho

Beta access to WoWs last expansion ran 90$.

@@mikoyb.1291 The cope is hard here. You don't even get the game and a whole lot of nothing.
@@Lord_Juvens The game doesn't have a box cost.
