Can you shoot a martini glass with martini in it with a martini at 600 yards?
TheCraftinFluffy martini-ception
MAN I wish I had a 600 yard private range. I probably wouldn't ever get anything productive done, though. Wait, I never do anything productive anyway.
Toolness1 hey, they were hitting the 700 yard berm. It's bigger than that.
I would have the same problem
I’d also be broke and or homeless because I shoot 7mm mauser
I wish i can get a gun
Same
The sound of the bullet flight is beautiful.
It sooooooo satisfying
I agree. But if you'd been a Zulu warrior with that slug whistling past your ear, it wouldn't sound so pretty.
mcgoodle V1 ZULUL
Garen Osborn it's really nice yeaj
The audio on the target cam made this video SO MUCH MORE AWESOME!
FAQ: the mustard jar I'm throwing the brass in is just hot water and dish soap to help loosen all the black powder residue. Cap it off, give it a few shakes, and throughly clean your brass when you get home. Another great black powder tip is to take a small fuel funnel with you to the range along with a few gallons of soapy hot water. After you are done shooting, especially on a gun like this, open up the breech which it's still warm and rinse it out with water real good. Makes clean up really quick and easy.
Iraqveteran8888 do you have a smokeless martini load? Perhaps with 3031 or trail boss? I'm also thinking about using blackthorn 209. Have you tried that as a replacement for the black?
Iraqveteran8888...smoke must really fuck Chad up!! His spotting was off much worse than the gun. Eric...Ur not far off with many of Ur shots & Chad's calling complete opposite where Ur hitting.
How do you go through a gallon jar of mustard before it goes bad?
mustard goes bad? I've never seen such folly under proper storage
Iraqveteran8888 sounds to me like those long heavy bullets were tumbling in the air
I love hearing the impacts and misses early in the video... still watching...
Great work, fellas. Great demonstration. Love it! We've done some 700 yd shooting (albeit at a larger target) for the last couple of years at a shoot in Alberta. It's great fun (as you have so aptly demonstrated here). We've shot Martinis, Sniders and P53s... You wanna see a LONG report, try the P53... You can grab a shave between firing and hearing it hit!
1st hit 11:35
2nd hit 25:43
3rd hit 26:17
Damn, do I love that sound!
Thank you for this lol
Thanks for ruining the fun of it all
I did some long range shooting at 60 feet today with my bb gun. It was pretty badass. #Europe
I presume you're not in Scotland then. Or are a true outlaw and don't have your pellet gun registered?
Netherlands. I have a .177 break barrel which you are free to buy above 18. For my airsoft gun which has 5 times less fps you do need a license, which is pretty laughable. But black rifle thus scary.
@Lord Bryant I didn't choose the thug life, it chose me
This is why I'm thankful for being in the US, even though I'm in the most backwards state in the union: Kalifornia. My AR can't have a grip, adjustable stock, a standard mag release, or flash hider. But I still have it and do not have it registered.
Yeah Cali rules seem weird to me. They are just nibbling away at your rights, one tiny step at a time. And when they do finally create enough rules to make owning guns too expensive, too much of a hassle or whatever, you will never get them back. If liberty is lost it is incredibly hard to regain, mostly only through revolution. Which explains why the Us has the constitution it has. Anyway, it is actually possible to own an Ar15 here believe it or not. But you have to do a lot a shit to get a license. Even then you are only allowed to use for competitive shooting. You are not allowed to store the gun together with the ammo, which makes it hard to use for self defense. Also police will visit your house anually to check if your weapon is stored correctly. If you do you manage to use your weapon in a life threatening situation to protect your life, chances are very high your license will be revoked in court afterwards. So yeah, sucks.
I grinned when he hit the plate 😀
PolskaMagnum
I'll admit I released a little school girl giggle myself...
I just love how affectionate Eric is towards his Martini, honestly it's adorable.
I gave it a like for the bullet sizzles and voice over accents.
That impact sound at 3:42 sounds awesome
You guys need to have a Fan shoot where you invite IV8888 fans to shoot, show off the guns from your personal collection( maybe let people shoot them ) Do a live raffle drawing for guns, parts, or man cans, to show viewer appreciation. You guys are like an hour away, making me jealous being able to shoot at 600 yards, I have to pay an arm and a leg to get into the GA gun clubs 100 yard indoor range. You guys are great, glad to see a couple of GA boys getting shit done and having fun, keep up the good work guys.
We might be able to arrange something like that in the future eventually. Bringing people to this range is completely out of the question unfortunately.
Iraqveteran8888 oh come on party pooper. Just bag them miles down the road and collect personal devices to not track location. Voluntarily of course. I would leave all my things behind and not know where I'm going to hang out with you guys for a couple hours.
Iraqveteran8888 im britich and i do clay shooting whith that gun but the cickback broke my arm
jimmy bushcraft yer fulll of shayt maytee
Iraqveteran8888 Doesnt it belong to Professional Russian or someone he knows closely?
The performance is limited by the sights. If you had a good vernier sight , such as we use on our High Walls, and Sharps rifles for 1000 yard matches, I'm sure you could hit the gong consistently at 600 yards
This is like me trying to snipe in Battlefield.
Lol
SFxTAGG3 Haha me too
not hitting? ;O)
hahaha
"This is the magic bullet, right here." Then hits a skinny bar at 600 yards. Sweet Vid!
it got nerfed a little while ago and isn't as popular as it was anymore
its been rebuffed.
Salt Detected and it's still shit
Mario Saboni Yeah, I hear it's not ass effective in patch 19.1.4
its buffed again
No, it`s actually pretty good. Not as good as before, but better than the SMLE.
I would love to see a video showing what this 600 grain cartridge would do to a block of ballistic gel.
TheIamfrustrated rip it in half
Lmao prolly similar to throwing a Boulder at it..it would slap it so hard the gel would move 6 inches idk lol
TheIamfrustrated that would be amazing
I’m loving the audio from the down range cam hearing the slugs wiz in and slap the dirt!!! Those 600 grains sound like a damn ball bat smacking the sand.
5:31 the bullet just hits the pole and falls right in front of the target.
Jacob Allison Yup
I saw the pole, but hadn't noticed it fall to the ground at first. Never saw that before. Was almost completely out of energy at that distance.
you can also see a hole where the bullet separated the pole at the point of contact.
I just noticed this as well, that was a great shot! I got a kick out of seeing the bullet just flop to the ground.
i think it bent the pole too either that or it hopped
*edit: it definitely bent the pole
You guys should start a new video series called Milsurp Mondays where you talk and shoot old guns
This was a great video, love the old military weapons. The three of you looked like you were having a great time , just hanging out at the range with great friends. Thank you for all your time and knowledge .
Love this vid, keep coming back to rewatch it, perfectly encapsulates a fun day at the range. doesn't matter if your hitting every shot, the time spent, the anticipation, the company, the joy... of a day at the range, wonderful vid.
good stuff guys. no scope. just going old school. yes.
I think this is my favorite video from y'all! I love to see what the old war horses are capable of and can still do. great job guys. keep these coming.
As a former long range 1,000 yd shooter with a Sharps in 45-100 - I can tell you that the thump of the 570 grain bullet on the target and then the backstop was incredible compared to the plink from a 190 grain jacketed from a 308. Shooting rapid fire like that is not good as it heats up it changes point of impact. Also the bore should be cleaned with at least a patch - typically a brass brush (wet) followed by dry patches. Unless that 2F powder you are using is extremely clean compared to the crud we had to use. Also, one of the guys - Ron - was able to consistently hit the target at 1,000 yards OFFHAND. Cost me 3 beers for each hit.
That was AWESOME! I love it when you do a video with older guns, always teaches something new and give me something new to collect!
a smokless 45-70 replica of the martini would sell well
This was a fun video to watch, made me laugh. Also huge props to Kevin, cool dude and a solid shot.
Definitely my new favorite youtube channel. Great production quality and fascinating content. Love hearing your genuine enthusiasm for vintage firearms.
Nothing more fun than challenging yourself with historic rifles. Great video, I'd be very interested to see more like this in the future.
favorite video to date!! love those old rifles in action...great vid guys, keep them coming
Best sound ever - those bullets going into the berm...
0BAAC0 nah brah. Dat whistle doe.
dude haven't even got to the end of the video already hit the like button probably my most favourite video from you guy's yet. Nothing beats shooting an old timer at long range.
My old friend Ken Willetts loved the martini action and used it to build many powerful Ackley Improved cartridge rifles. It used to be, here in Canada, there were many Martini Henry's around and could be picked up for reasonable money at the gun shows across the land. Ken built some real tackdriving works of art with this action. Raise a pint in memory of Ken Willetts, a great pastor, machinist, heavy duty & automotive mechanic, gunsmith extraordinaire who pretty much always hit what he aimed at.
One of the best videos you guys have made! I was glued to the computer for 38 minutes on the edge of my seat! Do another one with another old girl!
Hey guys, great video! I was cheering when Eric landed that first round. You guys should include a camera shot showing the downrange distance for people that can't visualize how small that target was at 600 yards.
Awesome video guys. I couldn't imagine even attempting that. You guys are my favorite channel on UA-cam by far so keep up the good work.
Thanks for putting in the time and effort to load the rounds and make this video. I love to see antique firearms put through their paces. Keep up the good work.
If I'm ever fighting a trench war I'm bringing Kevin with me.
Yolo Swaggins i know i wouldnt want him shooting at me, I’ve noticed that in other videos, the man can really shoot!
first hit at 11:34
ma man
Billothepillow ™ thank you
I saw you donate at the pewdiepie live stream
Took forever to travel 600 yards
the real mvp here
Picked through parts in an old shop full of Martini-Henry's back in the 90's
12shots in a 15inch circle @ 900 was end result
Starlight brass
Custom 560grain casting die, swagged, lubed, gas-checked & 'patched' with a folded tally-ho paper
A Lee collett crimping die
Mulwex AR2213 or 14 (can no longer get it)
Lyman target sights made a HUGE difference, along with ditching fore-stock for a 5mm thick 'wire' frame to rest on.
But THE BIGGEST cut in shot-to-shot variation???
KEEP YOUR AMMO OUT OF THE SUN!
(Especially with black powder AND/or in the Aussie sun!)
Must dig mine out again & put a couple through it again some day...
11:56 low? That baby was high! It probably bounced back up with that massive energy behind it. That thing is a beast. Can see why it was used to hunt balloons and not people. Black powder at that range seems trivial. Amazing video, a good time had that day!
Well it was used in volley fire against massed Columns of men. More than accurate enough for that application as it stopped the Zulus and, less commonly known, long range volley fire stopped the Dervish fighters while they were still over 500 yards away. That may have been a Lee Metford though.
These were all old battles, even pre WW1 technology that became advanced. I mean, the 6.5mm, 7mm, and .30 calibers really came to fruition during this time, so much advancements. Its crazy that almost ALL that we use today stemmed from this war. On a side note, almost ALL of the world conflicts we deal with also stemmed from this war. Crazy huh? Its still a beast. I dont want to get shot with a 6.5mm OR a beast of a Martini-Henry. The MH is almost like a man-carried cannon. what a hoss!
The 1879 Sandy Hook Army trials pitted the MH against the Trapdoor at extended ranges. Those results are online. Barrel fouling probably played a big role in diminished accuracy after the first few shots. Blackhorn 209 will eliminate that problem while still providing good smoke and roar.
Searcher1911 iraqveteran8888 these army trials might help future long range videos. I'm sure a lot of these antique rifles had such paper work with some digging.
It's like the game, It sucks at long range!!! You have shoot it between the sweet spots!! 40-80m for that instant kill!
11:40 in the video and old girl still has it @ 600 yards. Putting fun work in...she made you work for it...found the sweet spot. Keep the great videos up guys!
At 44 years old I finally went out and “rang the gong” for the very first time this past Saturday. I’m hooked. Nothing is more satisfying than the sound of the steel getting smacked.
I'm just gonna go ahead and point out that BF1 players aren't all that young. I'm 29 and always squad up with dudes in their 30's with kids.
Alfalfa Male if ur ps4 add me , Rxes_
Its ps4 but im playing with mouse and keyboard:)
Alfalfa Male 30 is young in comparison to the gun's age
Mr .BaNDaR noob
dude, bf1 is for kids, Squad is for alfalfa males
oh shit nigga. Squad up n shiet. Like a real nigga. shit man. you're so fuckin cool squadin up n shiet with guys who have balls hanging to their ankles.
good times!
This was the first video that started it for me. Thank you keep up the good work.
The audio from the target camera is amazing. Love that yall had that in the video too. The sound of those rounds flying in is just incredible
Sorry Eric, love you brother but, Chad is a better marksman than you with rifles. I think you're better with pistols than Chad though. Yall should do a couple vids about that! Eric VS Chad with rifles and pistols, a friendly battle of course.
Lol...it really depends on what it is and what you call good. Chad is a very well rounded marksman. I tend to shoot a little better with these older guns but not by a huge margin. I would say on a technical level he's more meticulous than me when it comes to shooting. I'm a "screw it im going to shoot this gun" shooter, which sometimes plays into my favor. We were hunting Coyotes the other night and it was actually pretty dang funny. He missed one at 50 yards...easy shot...but hey it happens to the best of us. Best thing to do is get out, shoot, and have fun and don't worry about it.
Wait, I'm sorry, I wrote that when I thought Chad would hit it, come on Chad! Well, usually, Chad is better...Anyway, great vid guys!
You have to remember...this is a STUPID long way for this rifle. These rifles were well loved by the troops and very reliable once they switched to drawn brass, but they were never intended to be a target rifle.
Iraqveteran8888 never mind the haters guys keep up the good work
Tru
I love this target cam, can you do the same with the cannon, pretty please?
I'm over 60 yrs old myself, and I own that same rifle. I've never tried shooting over 350 yards, so your doing pretty good.
Guys you need, i mean NEED to do this more often!!! Great and funny vid, lots of "lols" with you guys. Thanks for posting it!!!
I'd love to have the opportunity to shoot a gun like this at some distance.
Should have used the Kolibri instead!
Awesome video Eric, Chad,.... and Kevin, great shot placement. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work guys.
kind regards!
Eric Dee.
im loving the whiz and crack of the impact of the round i dont care if you miss the damn plate great fucking video
Those incoming rounds sound amazing.
Good Job Kevin
most gun channels would cut out all the misses but you havnt so this shows you are the realest
The Martini is a medium rage weapon in Battlefield 1, I have never heard of anyone hitting a 600 yrd shot with it. Love the videos with this gun, it's mean man.
Love all your videos, but this one was like I was rooting for every pull of the trigger. I actually had my iPhone in hand timing the flight of the bullet. Was it really 2.01 seconds between the pull of the trigger and hitting that gong? If so, that's CRAZY!!!
That was a magic bullet indeed! Hit the bar dead on haha should have called it!
AWESOME video. Love the old rifles like this. Thanks for sharing.
I consider this ASMR. The black powder bang, the hiss of the bullet and then the splash sound just beautiful. Would be great to see volley fire with a dozen or more of those on the same range.
11:37 first impact
Try a lighter bullet. and if possible a more conical pointed tip. I'll bet this rifle could hit that gong regular. I shot my .58 Green River mussel loader with conical tip mini ball at 800 yards 3' gong with 9" grouping. I was 20 years younger
then. Today I most likely couldn't hit a 6' gong at that range. Seeing this makes me want to dust it off and go shoot it again. Thanks for the fun.
Do you shoot fish with a mussel loader?
This is the greatest most suspenseful range I've ever seen and I was just busting up the whole time. I love it guys!
One of the best thing I've see you guys do!
Maybe if you swabbed the bore every few shots it would be more consistent?
i have to wonder did Chad have to buy lunch? i mean Kevin and Eric hit the target.....
Fantastic really enjoyed this video... the enjoyment of you three shooting this classic is plain for all to see. looking forward to seeing the snider
Dude, that thing is a beast... Good on you for showing all the challenges as well as the few successes.
my favorite gun in infinite warfare
All I want to know is, how long did it take to eat all that mustard?
Great, great video I really enjoyed that you did not edit anything and it was like being there with you. I could feel the tension.
I'm a big bf1 fan and this is one,of my favorite guns, and I have to say it is beautiful to see the real thing. real nice work sir.
Why was chad talking so weird in the beginning? Lol. Nice video as always
LOTS of coffee
Iraqveteran8888 Nah sound like he smoked a dooby
French
i believe that's just chad.
Was pretending to sound like French, or another language saying "black powder"
I think there may have been a slight discrepancy in the loadings
Actually....velocity variation on properly loaded BP rifle rounds is very low...often SD will be in single digits. The biggest problem with long range shooting is the bore fouling BP causes. The British worked tirelessly to develop the .577-450 round so it would maintain good accuracy over long strings of fire, and this ended up with a complicated assembly of card wads with beeswax cookie between under the paper patched projectile. Each shot scraped the bore and left a nice coating of wax which minimized the fouling. Target shooters used blow tubes between shots where they exhaled down the bore multiple times to keep the fouling as soft as possible and also this slowed their rate of fire which kept the barrel cool. These rifles get hot quickly!
That is so cool! Awesome idea, shooting the old rifles at long range targets. I loved the M39 videos at long range too. Would love to see Lee Enfields and other WWI rifles at long ranges :) Keep up the awesome videos :) Way to go Kevin! Awesome shooting. You guys really know how to have fun!
Love these old gun vids.. Keep up the good work!
Try and suppress the gun
Ola Jo I may be wrong but I don't think that would work with black powder
it'll work once
Ola Jo LMAO
Yeah and while you're at it, weld a picatinny rail onto the barrel, add a red dot, torch and laser, replace the wooden stock with a collapsible polymer stock and pistol grip and use a C/G-clamp grip while shooting it.......
I just made myself shudder
Yes, let us take a 120 year old gun and make it illegal in California!
Hilarious listening to that thing ram the ground with 2000 pounds of energy. THUNK. not a sound i'd ever want to hear out in the world anywhere near me.
Only 1000 pounds at that distance.
I have heard that in Iraq it's scary because you dont know ware it's coming from
Love the bang from the camera near the gun and then hearing the whistle of the bullet as it goes down range.
I shot five 12 ga, 3", 385 grain slugs yesterday. Those rounds kicked like a Missouri Mule! I couldn't imagine what 600 grains would be like. Yeouch!
Like for BF1 boys
As a person who uses the Martini a lot in Battlefield, I can tell you right now that it's not good beyond 100m because of its slow bullet velocity in game
Playing BF1 obviously made you an expert... And that's sarcasm btw.(had to explain that because such a dumb ass comment after watching this video is epic)
Rook Mine Boi lol like games are 100% accurate. Something people call commen sense
Rook Mine Boi you're actually fucking dumb
As a person who knows weapons and history games are pretty bad and displaying ranges and showing weapons to people like you. Just because it's slow don't mean it's inaccurate. Haven't you heard of colonal Segewick who was shot off his horse at 1000 yards during the Civil War; Took 3 shots but that's with blackpowder
daylon boender you because you hit something doesn‘t mean it‘s accurate
As always your videos rock. I could feel the excitement of every shot as it barely missed lol. Def dont think I would have done any better.
Love it when Chad does his commentary keep up the amazing videos guys
Tell Chad to stop taking barbiturates before you film these.
Hughmugus what? I feel like this video just sexually harassed me.
Awesome shooting Kevin!
Im impressed with the consistency of the hits man!
First comment
please also use meters/km you have an international audience
Steef Goediegumdrums you know i always wondered why the hell the whole planet just make one unit of measurement meters and thats it idk.
Steef Goediegumdrums We know how to convert from imperial to metric and back again. Why don't you?
JustTheTip187 because he's probably a younger dude thats never had too. Im a young guy but ive had too soo i can do it
Yards are relatively equal to meters, get a life
America or fuck you
this was pretty cool guys. always interesting videos.
The inaccuracy of black powder from round to round is impressive. I'm very glad that the military doesn't use it for bullets anymore!
