The biggest issue I have with my time is how much time I spend consuming self improvement information either through UA-cam or more often scrolling through the internet. (I am not on social media other than UA-cam). I can't remember the exact quote but it was something along the lines of somebody who gathers a lot of maps and road signs but never takes the journey. And that is what has come to my attention as I have started writing down how I spent my day. At the end of the day I don't have accomplish steps toward the big goals of my life, most of the things on my to-do list and most of the things that cross off on my to-do list are daily things that just maintain my life nothing that moves it forward. So one of the things that I'm becoming more intentional about is blocking off prime mental energy time toward specific objectives that move me toward a bigger goal. I want to write novels and publish them. I have a lot of drafts but I don't have anything remotely ready. so I am starting to spend at least 90 minutes a day editing one specific novel draft. If I have a day where I didn't get 90 minutes in because it was a very busy work day then that's fine. But I need to stop filling my days with an endless pursuit of information that does nothing to help me move forward with a big goal. Another thing that's helped me with my time is setting a battery operated alarm clock on my exercise equipment. I decide when my exercise time is I set the alarm clock and I have to physically go to that alarm clock and turn it off. since I'm standing right there next to the exercise equipment there's no excuse not to use it. And lastly one of the things I do is I turn off all auto play. when a video is over it the next one doesn't automatically play. and I make myself turn off the videos and do something constructive even if it's something that I need to get done just to maintain my current life like wash dishes or tidy. I have stopped thinking about whether I'm being productive because that language doesn't work for me. I think to myself am I taking care of myself and my properly parenting myself. Part of taking care of me is remembering the bigger goals I have in life and not just how to be entertained in the moment. Sometimes the best way I can take care of me is to unplug. (Except of course I need my computer to edit my current novel.)
I am guessing a lot of people can relate to this. There is an overabundance of information everywhere but taking action is another challenge in itself. It sounds like some of your methods are going well. Good luck on your book! :)
"most of the things that cross off on my to-do list are daily things that just maintain my life nothing that moves it forward" < Oh my, how much I relate to this. Such an excellent way to put it. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, this is very helpful to me.
I know it isn’t for everyone, but Intermittent fasting has saved me so much time. Eating 2 meals a day instead of 3 with snacks saved me so much time. I do meal prep also.
Thanks Sarah, your video made me realise - now that i've minimised my home I have more time, sometimes I suddenly feel at a loss because I have no small task to do - I need to find out what brings me joy again now that I am not always just trying to keep up with all the work....it's a weird situation to be in.
@@AbundantlyMinimal Nice to chat to you, I'm in New Zealand so when I got your message I was surprised you are still awake! Love your videos - Ive learned a lot so thanks for all the effort you put in enriching lives of people you have never met - pretty cool!
HI Sarah, I also do not like to clean. I am not a fan of cooking anymore so whenever I make meals I always make double. That way I have a meal I can freeze and take out for later. It helps on days that you are really busy or if you just want a day off from cooking. The bedroom is beautiful.
Hi Jenny! It's good to know there is someone else who feels the same way about cleaning! :) I do want to do more work with meal prep, something like the method you described. Thanks!
Daily routines for cleaning, keeping the place tidy everyday enables me to have extra time to achieve projects within my house and garden and study new things,
Time is a precious gift indeed! We can earn more money, but not more time. We are not even promised tomorrow! Using our time wisely is the best way to redeem our time!
I realize my problem is I always spend lots of time to do unnecessary tiny things. I'm not sure if I have to do those, such as replace something in the room. I think I need to focus on minimizing lifestyle. Do the most important things best instead of a bunch of things. Thanks for sharing!
Another inspiring message, watched this while eating and felt very encouraged by the message. Thanks Sarah and keep up good work, and more videos in front of the Hemisphere blue wall please 😉😊
Just found out I was one of those selected to take part in your online course. Thankyou so much. I look forward to continuing on my minimalist journey with your help 😁
Have you shared your recipe for your smoothie? The pillow coverings behind you are pretty and they are a perfect match for your walls. Enjoyed this tutorial. I do realize that people are in different places in their life, because everyone has different considerations and priorities-not that one or the other is any better. Also, I'm 62 and I have four grandchildren under the age of five and one more on the way, so a lot of my time is spent caring for them. My mother is in the care center and a lot of my time is spent handling her business and visitation. I think when one gets older there are different demands for time that we can't say no to or maybe don't want to say no to then when someone is of a younger age. I enjoyed and agree with your tutorial comments. I watch all your tutorials, so if you would like to share your smoothie recipe I could pick it up when watching your next tutorial.😊 Thanks much.
Hi Sarah. It's always a good use of my time spending it with you 😁 Also, thanks to you I am now cooking rice once and freezing portions in jars which saves me time pulling a meal together.
Great question! I am mindful of the accounts I follow and how much time I spend consuming this content. Sometimes I use ads as a chance to get up and walk around the house or get some water so I am not sitting there watching them. Hope this helps!

having a morning and evening routine has helped me save time and makes my life easier :)
That is very true! Thanks, Mariela!

That's awesome! It hadn't thought about the time-saving benefits of that!

You are welcome! After we declutter certain parts of our schedule, adding the things that make us happy or enrich our lives are so important!

Since I declutter I have so much free time I use it to read books
That is wonderful! Do you have a favorite type of books to read?

Hi Sarah another great video. Im retired so I enjoy every moment of my day and I can do the things I really enjoy.
That is lovely, Cathy!
The new place is so pretty!, 💙💙 I wish I would prep my clothes for the whole week at once. I know I would love it later in the week.
Thank you so much! I definitely enjoy having outfits prepped ahead of time and I hope you give it a try!

It is very easy to focus on small tasks rather than what is most important. I'm glad you liked the video!
Thank you, some very good points. I’m retired & there are days that I waste way too much time.
You are welcome, Kathleen!

How you keep yourself away from distractions ? Like social media and advertisements
