That 'slothing' thing is absolutely hilarious.
Agreed!
My dog does it too. I call it trancing
@@trish5111Oh why thank you very much.
@@trish5111 How is it that this is the 1st time I have heard of “trancing”? The vids are hilarious… thx for sharing. 😂😂😂
@@nancydiehl296 cuz you didn´t search bull terrier trancing on youtube.. quite common actually.. this is a speciality of bullies, which, when inbred genes are present in toher breed manifest in the same way.. it even may occur as an atavism..
When your mom and dad set up "slothing" stations around the house and the yard you know you are a very lucky dog. It's amazing to me how the best families just evolve.
My dog likes to sloth under my bed’s skirt.
@@zaynab2085 my dog does it under trees, ferns& other grasses in the yard, lol
As I read your comment I starting getting a little resentful towards my parents not setting up slothing stations for me. Then I finished reading it, reading comprehension kicked in, and my parents were restored to their previous status.
'Slothing' is such a great name for it, too!
One of my newer rescue cats does something similar with the curtains now and then, so I might try setting up a couple of slothing points for her, she what she thinks of different materials 😁
I totally agree 100%
Your dog's self-tickling may be his way of dealing with anxiety. I'm an anxious person and since my teen-age years, I do this on my arms, hands and fingers when anxious and even on my scalp. It's very calming.
Thanks for sharing.
i dont know what its called in english but in Sweden we call it taktil massage, its very gentle touching almost like caressing. My daughter who is disabled loves it
ASMR thing💕💕💕💕
Oscar clearly likes his physical ASMR triggers. XD
And, yep, underside of forearms for me.
@@ann-cathrinandersen9412 From the spelling of the word, it looks like tactile might be a good translation? It means touching, essentially.
The way he just moves i n t o s l o w m o t i o n as he walks through the slothing posts is just so heart warming.
My dogs have some unique, strange and amusing habits, but the slothing is so freakin' funny I had to watch it several times. I love that dog.
The "slothing" is the most precious thing I've ever witnessed ♥️
Maybe it feels like being petted.

I'm so glad they not only adopted him but also had the means to take care of his medical issues!! It's hard to afford a pup (esp one that is constantly in and out of vet offices/animal shelters). They gave him another shot at life, and he is truly living!!! God bless y'all, amazing owners & adorable af doggo 🥰🥰❤❤
Wish there was a way to get it's hearing back. Otherwise it seems like this good boy is having a blast of a life.
What a FACE!!!!! There is NOTHING I could possibly deny him!!! This made my Sunday!!! 💝🐶💝
Omg right?! He has the cutest, sweetest little face ever!
What wonderful people. They saw him doing this weird thing and said “he clearly enjoys this. Let’s help him out!”

Lol ! IRRESISTIBLE
They need to quit feeding the dog human food, it’s not good for them
@@dougedoug2105 it's not good for us, either. Just let them live, fam. The dog is deaf due to abuse suffered early in life. A little people food isn't going to cause more harm than good to it
@PogChamp The harm is in the chronic diseases and health conditions they’d precipitate in a dog being fed human food. How do you or why would you anyone want to treat a dog suffering high blood pressure or diabetes? Sounds expensive, additionally it was preventable
Just wanted to say this slothing is actually a form of self-comfort. The way humans Rock themselves. It's really cool that you gave him a bunch of places where he can pet himself now
It reminds me of a autistic spectrum trait that’s related to sensory disorder. He probably can’t feel to well so the slothing reminds him of what touch and feels are. It’s so unique and special
@@shaluvmil everything has a form of self soothing

That dog is just too damn cute. Thank you so much for rescuing him.
The slothing is actually called Trancing. My Lab did that also. Read up on it. It’s very soothing and relaxing for them. 😊
The first time he was shown “slothing” really thought “why would they edit that to show slow motion “ until it was said he goes so slow.
"Slothing" is also called "Trancing" in some other bully circles. Especially with Bull Terriers. Oscar looks like a true buddy and he looks like he's found his pack.
Ok so is this behavior indicative to Pitbulls? Just curious I have a red nosed. She has a ton of “self soothing” behaviors because she was severely abused. To this day she hates men! Some of their behaviors are easy to miss or interpret differently.
@@nalathenoodlegator7435 Quite possibly I haven't heard of that particular behavior with other non-Terrier breeds. Maybe more indictive with terrier or "Bullie" breeds. My Rescue Bull Terrier use to freak out and try to get off the carpet in the house from time to time. It took him a while to like it. He was an outside dog for 6 years of his life.
Side note many of my friends in past have rescue many many Pitbull's and the like. and they take some work, but I somehow made a friend's recuse female bully comfortable to be around me. When ever I was at this persons house I would say hello to her and let her know I meant no harm or let her know I saw her. I would offer no food , toys and or try to touch her. After a month she ended up sitting next to me as I stood next to her owner which was a guy. Then one day "Snap" she sat on my foot at a BBQ and then she started coming over to me for pets and causal conversation. It was pretty cool. She was abused Pitbull and scared of men especially Taller guys like me. There's hope it just takes time.
@@bartthatcher5799 right. My dog (1/2 blue heeler, 1/4 boxer, and collie) hated women. Loved men. She was an owner surrender. Her owner was a young guy in his 20s or so, when I filled out her paperwork the lady at reception mentioned it because she had been the one working when my dog was brought in. It said on her paperwork that she was not gonna be great with kids, caution with other dogs, and she was a major space invader. It did not mention she hated women, that she cowered and hid when she smelled alcohol and that she was trained to bite. Four years later (almost) after a lot of work for the first year and a few instances where I got bit or chased up the couch while my husband tried to grab her and get her outside, she is now the neighborhood kids' favorite dog. The ringleader doesn't let his friends skateboard on our street anymore since skateboards scare my dog. They all gathered as a huge group and played with her while I was heavily pregnant. The ringleader says she is better and more fun than his dogs. She is the best big sister to my baby. She only bites when she or I are threatened and even then she warns first or nips and she has not caused injury in three years. The first thing she overcame thiugh was the fact that even though she didnt know personal soace was a thing she never cuddled or allowed pets. Two months after adopting her she asked to be on the couch with me, i gently patted it and she hopped up and cuddled, her head on my lap. I almost cried as she let me pet her and tell her what a good girl she was. My husband was jealous, she always loved him but I got the first cuddle. The secind thng she overcame was fear of alcohol. That required a lot of bribery. I would pour a drink or open a drink and then place it on the ground where she could smell it at will and toss her treats (okay more like cheez-its, only for behavior correcting training, not a normal treat) and bring her closer and closer. As she got in arms reach I have her take it from my hand sniff the drink and gave her lots of pets and praise. Only three repetitions did it. She remained scared of my drinking husband and even got between us to defend me more than once. It took much longer for her to realize he was not gonna hurt anyone while drunk. She still doesn't like it when drunk male friends approach me and body blocks them. There are only two males other than her dad and our roommate who was with us on adoption day that she trusts and she climbs into their drunk laps and stares at me. She is an absolute sweetheart but was taught bad things before. Bad owners raise good dogs to be bad. Good pawrents help damaged dogs feel safe.
We still need to exercise caution around other dogs because if she doesn't pick a fight most of the other dogs will (apparently she annoys most dogs), she loves cats (not mutually) and we only exercise caution with her and the baby because she is hyper and dumb and may accidentally injure him by pawing him, headbutting him, or rolling over on top of him (she has tried this many times while trying to teach him how to roll over or asking him for pets).
Also called trancing in the hound dog circles. Common behavior of basset hounds especially.
Yep sure is, my EBT does the 'ghosting' all the time. We have a large plant that he stands under and slowly let's the leaves tickle his head and back, he then starts to move in a slow manner which we call 'ghosting'. It shocked me at first because I had never seen it before, but we are used to it now.
There is a special place in heaven for animal lovers like you guys. Bless you for rescuing him

The 'slothing' part made me laugh and cry. I'm so happy that he gets to really indulge his sense of touch now that he's lost his sense of hearing. I'm sure the soothing gives him the best feel good 'tingles'.🥰
Seems like nothing can stop this good boi from enjoying his life and sharing his pawsitivity with the family
Thanks for watching!
Love the cool little pun
His “slothing” is probably partly due to the loss of his hearing. His sense of touch has been sharpened along with his other senses to compensate. As such, it’s likely the feel of such light brushing against his back has a much more pronounced feeling to him and he happens to enjoy it, or at the very least, feels curious/confused about it.
Adorable seal pup with four legs. Stories like this just make me grateful there are people like this who do everything they can to make a animal feel safe and loved.❤❤
I cried about the slothing. Imagine living such a bad life and then being given a second chance at a family where your people do absolutely everything in their power to make your life so enjoyable. I love it when animals find their forever people.

The slothing post are just like giant brushes used on cattle farms. It made the cattle more relaxed. There giant car wash brushes sorta.
I've seen those being set up on UA-cam and yes the cattle go nuts for them. It's like they can't get enough of them. You culd put a hundred out and they would still not be enough.
We're in Wisconsin, where we have 3 dairy farms, 2 beef farms, and around 450 head. We have dozens of brush setups like that. They are for itching, that is all.
@@Jerharris90 And I bet if you had more it still wouldn't be enough for them. LOL
Sensory plays a large part in humans and with animals....thank you for sharing! ❤
The dairy farms I grew up on had them too and they'd coat them in some kind of insect repellant so when the cows brushed against them, they'd get some protection.
“Slothing” looks like something I could get into personally. This adorable giant may be on to something. A kind of tactile mindfulness practice. Hugs, you goofy baby!

What a wonderful heartwarming story! When I saw his 'slothing', I thought, "There's another!" My neighbor's English Bulldog, Pokey, used to do the same thing & for all of his very long life. Great memory of over 60 yrs ago.

What they’re calling ‘slothing’ is really common in Bull Terriers. Some people call it ‘trancing’ because they space out and go to another place while doing it. Ours used to creep under anything they could - curtains, plant fronds, anything low enough with fringes or tassels... Some would even pre-trance in that they’d slow down and shift into trance mode slightly before reaching the thing they’d decided to creepy under. Endlessly entertaining to watch.
That's very interesting, never seen my pittie do that... in fact, I've never seen her move in slomo except for when she's into her 'hunter' mode to get ready to go after rabbits... she looks more like a cat...
Never seen a dog do this and yet, tons of videos showing dogs doing this. Weird.

It's also a reason why WE WILL NEVER crop our puppers ears or her tail....
@@softan some bitch asked my mom if we'd crop her tail and pin her ears up...and we legit outright said no.
If we cropped, declawed or otherwise altered the bodies of human children just to suit our desires, people would be horrified, and yet some people do that to their animals. It’s mutilation, it’s cruel, and it’s wrong.

😅 well it could be sprite as in the mythical creature… instead of the beverage. But then again lots of people name their pets after food (and I love it tbh).
My mother was quite similar in her naming skills. She named her two cats Charlie and Ramona. Then I named our next cat Cuddles for obvious reasons.
@@randybradley4151 whatever the name, I don’t care as long as they’re cared for.
"Slothing" because he is so starved for gentle touch. Instead of a scratching post, he is looking for a tickle place.
I don’t think that is necessary true. He appears to receive plenty of love and affection. I think he just likes it - kind of like how we humans like the sensation of having our backs lightly tickled. (I used to do that for my daughter when putting her to bed.)
It’s a “moment of joy” to watch the love this couple and the Bully Breeds Rescue has in their hearts. What a wonderful dog!
