    My friend has a cottage style lake house. All the floors, trim, stairs, etcetera were stained with black walnut husks. They are stunning.

    Like how you showed the difference in coats and ammonia strength.

    Beautiful nature behind you in the intro and end of this video, relaxing and just lovely. You always find an interesting and creative way to do things, so we get the chance to learn a thing or two by just watching. Thank you for that, and keep going.👍

    You can peel walnut husks at that state of ripeness with an electric drill and a paint of plaster paddle mixer. As you said, fill a bucket 1/2 to 3/4 full with walnuts, fill 1/2 way with water and blend. Doing the peeling this way is fast and it releases all of the dark goo (technical term) off the shell and into solution. The walnuts will be quite clean if you rise them afterwards. You can eat them or chill them in your fridge and plant them outdoors when your rainy season arrives.
    The grove of walnut trees was quite beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
    You are a brave man to do the peeling in your living room on upholstered furniture!

    Interesting. I do a lot of fiber arts and I dye fabric with walnuts, onions, avocado skins and all sorts of things.

    I've got a huge black walnut tree. The squirrels this year have been taking the walnuts on my porch and furniture and ruining everything to stain. Wish I knew what to do with them all. Now I can. Thanx. Gina in Upstate New York USA moving to Italy/Portugal

    My cousins picked walnut meats for extra cash. Messy process! Love your work. GREAT job!

    Finally, a way to stain that isn't either an orange tint or so dark it looks like paint! I have a walnut tree in the back yard. Thanks!

    Within the first minute of your talking, you made 13 cuts. I can't watch these jittery soliloquies. Why can't you film a conversation without making any cuts?

      I see your response on another comment. I understand this is not my "personal channel." Boa sorte a voce. Bye.

      The algorithm appreciates your comments, gracias :)
      but to answer your question since you took the time to count the cuts and read through comments, its autism, my brain and mouth dont work well together so no matter how hard I try there will always be cuts, or it will be 10x as long with long gaps of silence and umms

    Are black walnuts the same as California walnuts?

    • @My15KHouse
      @My15KHouse  3 дні тому +2

      Its a different species, but I would imagine it would get similar results since they are related

    You could go fast forward, because we get the idea pritty quick... A bit boring and so few information. Nice information, true! But you could grow your views and members, by keeping them /me more interted by doing more and showing more progress in the house.

      This isn't a personal channel just for you, I don't make personalized videos and have no desire to. There will be progress videos when they come but things dont always go as planned and I have a life outside of this that is the priority. Luckily I dont rely on UA-cam for my income so I dont have to stress over chasing the algorithm, I just make the videos and some are good and some aren't, thats just life.

    Still think you should look into making your own shellac.

    I don't think I'd be eating any walnuts soaked in ammonia...

    • @cferguson3368
      @cferguson3368 3 дні тому +2

      I heard that differently...folks soak them in water before eating...the water from soaking the hulls will also make a stain, just not as dark as the stain made with ammonia.

    • @mollymackenzie3307
      @mollymackenzie3307 3 дні тому +4

      Only the hulls go in the ammonia, not the walnuts themselves.

    • @My15KHouse

      The walnuts don't soak in the ammonia, just the outer hulls
