Always entertained and usually learn something I did not know or forgot about in the electronic hobby. Don't know why he left, but I always stop by to check if he put up something new. @@spikey911usa thanks so much for the update.
If you ever speak to him please send him our huge regards.
He was attracting a lot of deeply unfair criticism from some which I believe who were jealous of his success & methodologies.
With vintage radio gear especially over 30 years old it pays in the long run to replace the electrolytics as if they leak (which they usually do), one spends ages repairing eaten up PCB tracks.
Many less experienced techs criticised Mike for that practice which for old school techs like me I feel is a cheap copout as sure you can only replace the faulty components but in the long run you're not really doing customers any favour as electrolytics will leak & they'll spend magnitudes more in repairs if its even salvageable at that stage.
Been a tech & engineer for > 30 years & if I was rich enough, I'd be proud to have Mike on my repair team as I love his no bs approach, he definitely knows his stuff & I as a real world tech I know the dude oozes super quality plus plus like Peter @ TRX bench

Mike, I hope you start doing videos again, I have learned so much from watching these, you have such a great talent for repairing radios. I watch these over and over, you've got a great sense of humor and have so much patience in what you do, I feel as though I have much more confidence in myself as far as working on cb radios, I just bought a realistic trc47 radio, with am/ssb, I plan to recap this radio soon, it's in pretty good shape, it's become a part of the family, although I won't use it right now until I replace the electrolytic caps in it first. Thanks Mike for all your time and hard work, hope you come back soon, God bless you!

Mike I hope you didn’t get in some trouble with the authorities, we all know additional channels and modifications are frowned on. I love your taking the time to show us all how you work through these different problems. It’s quite amazing how much top end equipment you use and still have a time finding the gremlins in these great old radios. I only found your great videos just a few months ago, here in Boston we don’t get any airtime. (No one uses not even truckers on 19) it just faded away. I sold my one of a kind mint Browning markII 4 pcs it was tuned by Nichols just a short time before he passed, like you he would not turn up my system and made a face when I asked him to (peek the watts) but that radio was wonderful for years. Sorry I sold it and only $500 at that. Just last week I picked up a mark III and would of been honored to have it go thru your hands. If you did get put away wish I could fill your canteen. And hope nothing with the weapons happened. I guess just not knowing is the worst part. Hope to see you back on that great bench, what a great day that will be.

    CQ CQ MIKE!!!
    WE NEED YOU!!!
    Thank you for the content..
I just recently discovered your channel, and brother let me tell ya, there are NOT many good repair people left around, I’VE SEEN LOT OF HACK SHOPS HAVE SPRUNG UP….
I Just bought a new Present Lincoln II Plus off Amazon - and I need to peak and tune for my Freightliner -
I’m starting to seriously consider attempting to do some of the work myself…
ALSO I have “few” other radios sitting in my closet that needs to be repaired…
IF your still in business, PLEASE PLEASE drop a line..
    73 brother

Hi Mike. Love the videos they are very informative and keep me wanting more! Out of curiosity how does one get ahold of you to do an alignment? I have a Galaxy DX959. I’m capable of doing the clarifier lock but it’s the work after I can’t do. So I’m looking for someone who isn’t a hack to help me out. Looking forward to hear from you!

Sweet instrument, a bit out of my price range though :) Most of my gear is 80's through 2000's HP test gear (HP 8644A, 5371A, 3325A, 71110C, etc..). All of which is now controlled via a HPIB controller so I can do automated measurement set ups.

Knowing the cost, it's sorta like seeing a new car sitting on your workbench. I am now officially suffering from bench envy. Thanks a lot Mike.

I thought that was bullshit. Reinvesting in more equipment is always a good idea. And if you're reinvesting in new equipment it means you ain't going nowhere. I always enjoy yer videos. That is one snazzy piece of equipment.

About a year ago, Mike actually DID comment on a duplexer tuning video here on UA-cam.

So, I have an Alinco DX-70 that has never had anything but good things. Always properly matched antennas, has lived in a clean environment, etc. Suddenly it stopped transmitting. No reason. Took it to my local radio shop, and they couldn't find anything wrong with it, and went so far as to clean all the little coax connections, using that little brush thingy. I even tried a different microphone, but even just jumping the PTT at the connecter and nothing happens. It receives great, as usual. Inside it's immaculate. Any ideas?
