Scott is the first African-American Senator for South Carolina and has held the position since 2013. He previously served as a member of the House of Representatives for two terms and is the first African-American to serve in both Chambers of Congress. Scott also served on the Charleston County Council and the South Carolina General Assembly. In addition, he has achieved success in the world of business and is a Partner in Pathway Real Estate Group, LLC, in addition to having set up his own insurance company.

He seems to make sense on economic issues....but the reality of the 2017 Republican only "tax reform" and laws has NOT gotten to the promised/anticipated economic numbers....while adding further to the federal deficit as the GOP again raided the Medicare and Social Security "trust funds". (sigh) HIs silence on Trump's behavior...deafening.
@@glennfromthebronx - Fair critique. Of course, one could say almost the same thing about the results of the ACA, the behavior of a previous president regarding immigration, and the lack of critique from members of a certain political party.

@@StrategicWealthLLC There is no equivalent to Trump's behavior....and note....not specifically referring to POLICY. Add to this, his administration's revolving door....most of it their own making....not "vetting" nominees properly....and then look at CRIMINALS like Flynn..welcomes into top positions, including in security sensitive areas of the WHite House...and cabinet. (sigh) The main point...in the age of Trump....what the F ever happened to American (fiscal) conservatives. The social conservatives seem to remain....clinging to the extreme choices....many RADICAL ones, included, that are among his administration's choices for lifetime appointments to lower courts. Obama's over-speding/under-taxing....which added to the deficit was, at least, spent as a form of "domestic investment"....in America's workers....in their long-term health, and, it appears, at least in part, that the preventative care measures, will save the federal health programs....hundreds of billions if not trillions....especially in areas of diabetes and asthma prevention. Lots of political pork in the ACA, for sure...hopefuly to be excised out...sooner...hthan later, and perhaps, this is where Sen. Scott can make a marked difference.....and hopefully not just by offering cheaper, watered down versions of health plans, which IF cutting out the preventative care parts, bring us back to zero sum/nothing gained. The Trump "tax reform" added to the D.C. swamp....hundreds of additional pages in excemptions/exceptions....few, if any, benefitting 80% of americans. Wish Scott and his fellow few remaining fiscal conservatives would take a whack at the tax code....look for efficiencies in there. lol
@@glennfromthebronx - I did not suggest there was an equivalence to Trump. What I did say - accurately - is that there is hypocrisy by those that choose to critique people like Tim Scott for not more aggressively critiquing Trump....while not criticizing representatives of the other party given their lack of criticism of the results and behavior of the previous holder of the presidential office.

Love this man. We invited him to speak in Arkansas and he made an impact on every single person in the room. He's inspiring, humble, and intelligent beyond words. I sincerely hope America can produce more men like this, certainly in a time when great men like Sen. Scott are uncommon.
I went to Tim Scott's Charleston office for help with a government agency... given form to fill out - staff would not meet with me- did not want to see documentation - turned form in and staffer went back to closed off area - will not return letters emails or phone messages

Income inequality measures ignore the inequality that one person has over the course of their life as their intellectual capital increases from education, and experience bring, and with the capital equipment they use. Redistributing all of the CEO’s income among other employees usually results in $1000 or less per employee annually.
I'll gladly take that $1000....and put it in an investment fund....or pay off debts....or save for an emergency....etc. $1000 might not seem much to you....but it canmake a world of a difference to someopne being squeezed and squeezed. That $1000 would cover my transportations costs for almost 3 months (I don't drive.) Would pay one month's rent...

I'm just curious senator what are you suggesting here the only other options are don't vote at all or vote for Trump either in our current situation is sheer stupidity. Sounds like buyer's remorse at the expense of the rest of the country to me!

But I also think they are being too trusting, manipulated, and kept ready to be set up (as Powell was). Hey, just my opinion. Powell and Scott can well think and speak for themselves...

So is Powell, but Powell believed "the truth" fed to him about all those "weapons of mass destruction" that Iraq was threatening us with, and then he regurgitated that "truth" in front of the UN to allow for war. His race (among other things) was used to convince the UN. He became an attractive spokesperson because of his race (among other things).
