    Nice carving. I made two spoons once with my pocket knife when my wife and I camped out and had to made two spoons to eat our beans with. I cooked our steak on a flat rock place on the coals in a camp fire. Had to be the best meal ever.

    I just love that sexy sound the knife makes when it cuts right across the wood! A crispy Whisping sound, which is the result of sharp knives, perfectly seasoned wood, and the master in his element! Thanks for the upload brother! Carving an awful lot this year! All the best....     I carve 12 to 14" cowboy caricatures from basswood and have been for many years but I think I will try some cotton wood bark. After all these years you would think I would have tried it by now. Jim I sincerely thank you for this video. Gene C

    Yes walnut is a beautiful wood to carve. I also like to carve in pine and aspen.

    Great video, you make it look easy. I have a walking stick that curves into a plane that is similar to the starting piece of this. Even though it's into a knot, I'm hoping to follow this video to make my eagle head!

    mtn1945, I do have sharp tools but cottonwood bark is real easy to carve. This is the only wood I carve in now. Basswood would probably be better for a walking stick top.
