I have a habit or addiction of whistling this tune for the last 3 years, much to my family's and friends frustration. But the best moment ever, and this is honestly 100% true , was when I was in the locker rooms at work which are adjacent to the toilets. As I walked past the toilets to head into my shift, I whistled the tune , and someone (no idea who) sat in one of the toilet stalls whistled it back. Dueling whistles moment with a stranger!
OMG! : Memories of (decades past..) vinyl LP scratched & repeating the same audio fragment over and over and over.. On the other hand, just gotta LOVE Bluegrass!!. 🇺🇲💪🏆
Oh my God. That scene is so iconic that you know it plays in your brain on autopilot but once I got what was happening, I couldn't stop laughing. This is subtly brilliant.
First of all... Thank you for this interpretation of a classic scene. I did enjoy both musicians performances. True focus. I must say even with the clever yet awkward claps by Ned, the primal movements of the hillbilly dancing and a few panties moistening smirks from Burt. Jon Voight captured the moment with his presence of mind and instinctual actions.
So... Initially I was contemplating writing a comment similar in style to your very own comment. However... after reading your particularly impressive effort circa10 times I reluctantly accepted the fact that my particular contribution would not only fail to fly anywhere near the height of the bar you have reached with your perusing, but - even it did - it could only distract from the full attention your creation fully - and rightfully - deserves. So... when I stopped laughing I went to make a cup of Birdy's Super Creamy 3in1 sachet coffee mix (actually only 6% coffee... but a wonderful caramel taste, thus one can imbibe numerous cups and still sleep upon retiring)... I then re-read your comment, and - after I stopped laughing (again) I watched the original version (for the thousandth time)... and - just like my Birdy Super Creamy coffee - it never loses its 'flavour' and is just as good to watch again as it was on the first time :) * Did you know that the person actually playing the banjo was a rather well-known banjoist at the time (can't remember the guy's name now... this 'getting older' shit is a pain!), and is behind the lad with his arms coming out of the kid's shirt-sleeves, meaning that he was actually playing it 'blind' ! Hmmm... on that 'note' (sorry lol) I think that I will take another look at the original again... maybe even get my Geeetar out and join the fun! ... BUT... I will NEVER be able to hear this tune again without thinking about THIS vid!!! So WELL DONE for that! (you Cockwomble!) hahahahaha In short.... fuk'n BRILLIANT mate! lol
A neighbor of mine, who's like an uncle to me, played this for me, reminiscing about how much he loved this old movie, but he got this version. He was so confused and angry. I realized that somebody, just having fun, looped this scene/ The harder I tried not to laugh, the more I thought I was going to implode from suppressing it. My teenage son thought it was very funny
I watched this twice and had a sudden urge to marry my sister. Needless to say we did it, but are very happy of our identicle twins Bill and Hillary. We never imagined the impact our children would make on today's society. Thanks again. - Carl Childers

well played, sir. after about 4 minutes, I was thinking, "God, why is this guy making that kid repeat the same notes over and over? I haven't seen the movie in a while, but I remember this part being a lot cooler." Well played...
It gets real good around the 5 minute mark or close to there. Could have been a little before or a little after but pretty much around that time it gets going pretty well. Its my favorite part that five minute mark part of the song where they really figure out there jam and let it do its thing but it could be before the five minute mark or just after by some amount of time. Wow what a classic it becomes at five minutes its where they are tuned in and really getting down with the song. at five mi
lmao, Don't feel bad. 6:30 am, having my coffee, eyes half open, took me about 5 minutes... Funny thing is, I had to watch it again just to be sure I wasn't still sleeping, lol.
i have heard this song many times. But I've never seen this movie. It took WAY too long to figure out what was going on! Now I can't stop laughing....thanks!

Gracias por subirlo, esta pelícua es espectacular
I've been watching this for five months straight. Please, someone help me, someone come get me. I forgot my address but I think I live in some bigger city in the Midwest. Please...help...come soon...I can't run on Zen energy much longer. Wait...wait..what's...what's that? Some kinda light? Some kind of energy...coming...

The funniest part of this vid is all of your reactions...LMAO!...You all are funny! After the 6 or 7th repeat, I skipped through the rest, only to find they never comleted the riff. The funny part to me is that the definition of INSANE is when someone repeats the same thing over and over and expects a different result in the end. This is truly the INSANE EDITION!
hell that's all the cords I ever lernt either that's all u need u play that in camp nd itll clear out give everbody a weird look and grin lol love it thanks

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome each time. . . Wah. . . Hoo!
I think it is more like being suckered into waiting thru the whole damned thing for the next progression.

That's 10 minutes you'll never get back.
After all those years I am here acknowledging its still relevant & iconic
Its all fun and games till one of them catches you out in the woods.
The ending is my favorite part
This was a test to see how long we would listen to the same thing over and over ad nauseum.
This has just as much meaning of our lives in America as rock n roll, I take pride in this music and the location down south in which this was filmed.
I haven't laughed so hard in a long while! Thank you so much! :)
This drove me freaking INSANE

Thank you InsaneEdition. Thank you.
A classic contribution! Had me laughing out loud. Excellent!!!
I just love your sense of humor ...
The power comes from the realism. This is a real dialogue between two musicians.
Not so real, I believe the playing on the verandah is from a different person!
Yeah and the kids saying man can you play something else for Christ's sake
Now I know why this is the "Insane Edition" We were warned!
i remember when they did this live at the hollywood bowl. the guitar solo totally ROCKED. they had to have a second show.
THIS WAS PURGATORY TO WATCH. To whoever made this, you're sick and twisted 👏🥲

I almost waited for the whole 10 minutes to hear the end of this performance, Thanks for the laugh.
At about the one minute mark, I realized that something was amiss.
i can watch this a million times and still watch it love the banjo :)
It's Ned Beatty's clapping for me. Always gets me chuckling!
I find this absolutely hilarious : )
When hiking in New Zealand , we always said that any banjo player at the hut and we will keep hiking until the next hut. Love the tone.

qué temazo, no me extraña que el abuelete se ponga a bailar, y el otro a dar palmas :)
1:42 gets me every time.XD
Sorry I fell asleep 7 times during that
I never realized how many freakin times they do the first 9 tunes over and over.....get it going already!
I play this for the guys at work, they love me for it.
Do they love your pretty mouth?

Thx growing my grey hairs a little longer ... I quit after 56 seconds or so. Really Nice work!
I stroke and gush to this song.
aaaaahhhh. I can't stop watching! Hoping they finally move on to the rest of the song! You got me. Aaaaaahhhhhh. But I hate you for it.
Fantastic, you need to see the film Deliverance
The longest intro of any song.....ever! lol Pappy going to get tired of the dancing the intro that he will pass out before the real song starts. ROFL!
Loved this movie. It was kind of scary in some parts. But the dueling banjos scene will never get old!!!!
Just the start, and ending is faaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr toooooooooooo long lol. This edition that is !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow, what an amazing video. I can’t believe it. I had to watch it all just to understand it.
I thought that I must have started the video back a few seconds when I noticed the same scene being played over at least 3 times lol

Triste pendejo. El actor es Billy Redden y no sabe tocar el banjo.
It's know doubt that the little stickers that put this together are know doubtfully laughing at the replies that they get back. " " GET A LIFE " "
I read every comment ;)
Well if you're out in the woods and here banjo music for God sake run!
The face the kid makes at 2:13 says "Got eeem"
