17:58 have you ever burned the detector before like turn it black or melt AND 22:56 how did you get your camera on the other side before you got to the other side
Super cool vid Nic and soooo much nostalgia in this schiool. Everything from the 1960's era emergency lighting pack behind the stage to the vintage 80's "Town House" Apple 🍎 juice can in the crawl space this brings back many memories of my elementary school I attended in the early 1980's. My particular school was built in 1966 and had pretty much everything this school still has (well minus the fire bells in this case.) Too bad they took out the original bells would love to have seen/heard those. Also couldn't help but notice the "Danger Asbestos" sign on the crawl space access hatch near the end behind the stage. Was that old asbestos insulation that had been down there(presumably in the fooor joists) at some point and had been removed or was it still there? Did you have to be super careful when crawling through that section? Always wondered about that in my school back in the day. Anyhow thanks for another super awesome testing vid...keep em' coming,
nick helped replace the fire alarm system he actually made a video about it like a year ago replacing the bells panel and stuff there's the link ua-cam.com/video/piXEmNWagww/v-deo.html
Oh yes thank you I forgot about that one...that 6500 with the Durabels was an epic system. One last question for Nic; did that old emergency lighting pack behind the stage actually work when you tested it or was disconnected? Kinda looked like it might have been original to the building.
The asbestos warning may have been referring to the floor itself as it’s often in the glue they use to attach the floor or if it was for the crawlspace, it would have likely been for any insulation on ducts or pipes but I can’t really remember, it’s not really a problem as long as you don’t touch it or move it

It was an emergency system replacement during the peak of the Covid Pandemic supply was a huge issue. It was tough to find the limited stuff just for this system.
@@project_dog remember that nick said that it was a kitchen why would there be a water extinguisher next to a kitchen?? but the extinguisher was pretty old possibly from the 60s around when the school was built so yeah put the facts together and it's a water extinguisher it would have been better if there was a classK but there's nothing that we can do about it.
That makes sense. I have seen this happen first hand just today. I had to go over to a small reality office today that had a Fire Lite MS-2 panel. The office was very small, office and a bathroom. Well, he had a Fire Lite MS-2 panel and he had a horn that shorted out the nac and which that destroyed the nac. Because the office was so small, didn't require a strobe or access control...just a fire alarm, I just got into his Honeywell vista 20p burglary system and programmed in 2 fire zones and called it a day. However, I saw it happen today.
I like the crawl space work it's kind of cool to watch and testing the emergency lights.
I really like ur videos😄 Hi btw
Nic, you're under arrest for killing a pink light

May I ask why you put a video filter on at 9:50
To keep location private
we had a fire drill today at me elementary school
Question: why didn’t they replace the pull stations with addressable BG12-LXs?
budget cuts and stuff or smth
It was an emergency system replacement during the peak of the Covid Pandemic supply was a huge issue. It was tough to find the limited stuff just for this system.

9:25 did u accidentally change filters? lol (nvm)
Loving the videos, Nic.
Yay new video :D
Sounds like the school had its alarms replaced with L series or the spectralert advances
They are shown in the video a few times as well as the replacing the system video
Mhm
14:28 water extinguisher ???
Yes yes indeed

I hope no one was there when you're testing the fire alarm
Custodial staff is there and sometimes secretaries and administration
cool video and have more videos to come
hey nick why the school has a tight crall space you had prolbems getting the heat seniors
I have a question, what would happen if the nac was shorted out?
Depends on the panel some it may kill it and on some it may momentarily shut off to protect itself if it has protection and some older ones are fused

How come there are almost no strobes or horn strobes anywhere in the school
Because it was built in 1958
@@nics-systems-electric oh ok
@@nics-systems-electric canada code doesnt mandate it?
@@KanoaDeCastro nope somehow
It's a pain to crawl around in them crawl spaces
Not ideal, but this one is pretty nice compared to a lot of them
Why do some pull stations have a long delay?
Pretty normal delay for an addressable system monitoring conventional zones
@@nics-systems-electric is it really?
6:26 lmao
23:21 I feel that
it can happen lol
I have a drill tomorrow
